I find the opening sequence in the game generally works, up until you reach emerald grove — that's when the crashes really kick in.
From doing a lot of digging I believe the changes MacOS Tahoe/Sequoia made to Metal, and the way it handles pulling assets, are to blame.
Any time the game is forced to load a bunch of things at once the graphics system stalls or takes too long, Shar only knows why.
