I've replied to a few threads here recently of people having similar issues, but thought I'd start my own thread to bump this topic. I’m playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on macOS Tahoe 26.3 on an M1 Pro (16 GB) via Steam, version 4.1.1.7151330 (Patch 8).

Since the latest MacOS update (Tahoe), I literally can't play BG3.

For context: in Jan 2024 on macOS Sonoma (Patch 6) the game ran on high settings, 60 fps, with almost no crashes and I completed a full playthrough. After updating to macOS Sequoia (~Patch 7/8), I began getting intermittent dialogue freezes (every hour of gameplay or so), but it was still playable. Since updating to Tahoe (Patch 8), freezes occur almost every time (spinning wheel).

I have to force-quit, so no crash report is generated.

Things I've tried:
- Clean reinstall of BG3 with full removal of local files
- Fresh player profile and new campaign/save
- Steam Cloud cleared and resynced with only new save (tried offline too)
- No mods present; mod/config/profile files reset
- Game files verified; launched outside Steam client
- Graphics minimised (lowest settings, low resolution, windowed/fullscreen)
- Cache and user folders regenerated
- Background apps/overlays eliminated; clean boot tested
- CPU priority adjustment (renice) tested

I don't know if this tells us anything but the game runs smoothly when not entering/exiting dialogue or initiating a cutscene. And loading screens are still quite fast.

I'm not sure if there's anyone at Larian still working on the Mac port, but the latest silent patch did not fix these issues.

If anyone has had the same difficulties I'd love to know if a fix was found. I love this game.
