Disclaimer: I know that on some level, I'm partially to blame for what I am about to share, but I come here hoping the right dev at Larian may see it and take pity.

So a few years back, I played DOS2 on my PC and LOVED it. When I heard it was coming out on Switch, I was thrilled to pick it back up again so I could do another campaign on the go.

Fast forward to today. I got through Act I on a near completionist run, and was bit into Act II. My husband said he wanted the TV, so I said no problem - it can cross save, right, so I'll continue on my computer!? I enabled cross saves on my Switch via the game options menu. It gave me a quick prompt about transferring my current switch save to Steam, which I accepted! Or so I thought.

I open DOS2 it via Steam on my PC, only to find my old saves from my precious run a few years ago, no current campaign save from my switch to be found. "No problem," I think, and go back to my switch to re-open my current, locally-saved campaign.......to find out the local save files have been overwritten by my old campaign files from my steam account. I try deactivating steam saves in the menu and rebooting, to no avail.

In toil and despair, I go through the stages of grief (aka trying everything humanly possible to find a non-existent backup / pouring a whiskey). I finally accept the disappearance of my new campaign, and restart my game from the beginning on my switch. I finally land on the beach, and go to save. Being extra careful, I enable steam saves, and double check that prompt I mentioned before.

Well, it turns out if you press A, it uploads your switch saves. However, if you press B, it OVERWRITES local saves with your steam cloud saves. Unfortunately for me, I also have an Xbox (my usual console of choice), which has the A and B buttons reversed compared to the switch controller. I am so confident that I just mixed up my buttons on a single press, resulting in the erasure of my local saves. I realize this is technically my fault, but it would be REALLY helpful if this prompt was a little less easy to mess up! Yes, I know that I pressed the wrong button. But having only a half inch between cross save bliss and total campaign annihilation seems a little flawed, too.

Larian - I love you! I will play your games until my eyes pop out and Ifan gives me little kisses on the forehead. Please please please make this prompt more obvious for others! I feel the void has cursed me this day.
