Are there any plans to make the steam deck native build available via GOG? I bought BG3 on GOG before I owned a Steam Deck. Now that I do have a deck, while the windows version from GOG runs via Proton, I would love to have the performance benefits of the native version.

It feels a bit unfair for those who happened to buy the game on GOG to be denied access to the Steam deck native build.

I just registered as I have the same question. I'd love to read an official statement, clarifying whether owners of the GOG version of BG3, who own a Steamdeck as well, can hope for a port.

Whatever the answer may be, I'm really thankful to Larian for the great game and the long lasting support

Divinity 2 -- while being realtime instead of turn based -- is also pretty awesome. It’s how I found Larian’s games by chance and it’s the reason why I bought bg3 at full price on release because I expected it to be almost as good as Divinity 2. It exceeded my expectations.

See I think Divinity 2 is the worse game Larian made, I like the first hour on the island but then the story (&game) just drops off a cliff

D1 suffers the same issue but it gets around 1/2 into the second map area before the dev team started phoning it in

As someone who bought the game on GOG and has recently been switching over to Linux, I'd definitely appreciate a native Linux version available there! As I understand it, a Steam Deck essentially is a particular kind of Linux PC, but I admit there might be some additional complications I might not be aware of in moving that over.

I don't think the Steam Deck version is display-specific. It's probably the same game, just compiled for Linux instead of Windows.

However, it's possible (but unlikely) that the compilation options used make it specific to the Steam Deck CPU's instruction sets, meaning it might not run on other CPUs. But this is just speculation, since Larian has not released the Steam Deck/Linux version on GOG yet. Therefore, it is not possible to check this.

Personally, I am disappointed in Larian for not treating all their PC gamers equally. Years after release, they have suddenly changed the deal, offering a superior version on Steam compared to GOG when it comes to Linux support. This means that early adopters/buyers are punished for choosing the 'wrong' store. This damages trust and encourages people to buy the next game for years after its release, when we know what level of support is offered on which storefront. While I am glad that they released a Steam Deck/Linux version, not offering it on all stores that sell the 'PC' version is a strange decision.

Even if someone isn't using or needing the native Steam Deck Linux version, it unnecessarily damages trust in Larian because it creates a feeling of betrayal for non-Steam customers who are being treated as second-class, and raises questions about how different storefronts will be treated in future. Before, it was assumed that it didn't matter which store a game was bought from, but now it seems it does.

I had a similar experience with other game developers/publishers in the past, where patches are delayed, beta versions, or modding tools are not available on GOG compared to Steam. In some instances I manage to get a refund in time, so that I can buy the Steam version instead. But I don't think I can do this here, since I bought BG3 2020.

The Windows versions of their games usually run pretty well with wine under Linux (which is also what many Steam versions do).

its true Steam is clearly the bigger bear but i own the game on Gog and also happen to have a Steamdeck... pretty happy with both

the actual difference is more to do with Gpu drivers since a Steamdeck doesn't have the roar rendoring power you find in modern gaming Pc and the screen is around 10% of the size
