I find that DLCs are hard to make compelling.
They work best for me when they are expansions to replayable systemic games - Firaxis style. Civ and XCOM expansions. They make games I already like to play deeper and more interesting.
With story stuff. Yeah, if its a new adventure just make it a standalone buy and install - I don't mind if you reuse assets as long as the price is right. If it's tied to the main game story - then in the best case scenario it feels like they should have been there to begin with.
To be clear, I am not strongly against DLCs, but I just find it really refreshing that with Larian games I see a game, I buy and don't need to worry what version I buy, if there are or will be DLCs to buy, if I should play the game only after they release etc.
