I dont know what transmog is, but in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, we had oh I forgot how they have been called, but anyway it had what one could call visual slots.
If you had a piece of gear of which you liked the look, you cout put it into the visual slots and they would show on your character. You wouldnt get any benefit from it though, that was only from the "real" slots.
If you had noting in the visual slot though, it would show whatever was in the real slot.
There was also a "noshow" item one could put in the visual slots, so monks could run around in regular clothing, or, if there was no clothing, even in underwear. I saw at least one monk do so. Clothing had no magical properties.
Again visual slots got called something else, but I forgot what they've been called. I think it was a relatively late addition to the game.
Would be nice to have something like this in all games. In MMORPGs of course its especially important, since otherwise every highlevel wears the exact same gear, which is kind of boring.
