I dont know what transmog is
"Transmog" is simply the common name for the system of changing item appearances.
Popularised by its addition in World of Warcraft under said name.
It is notable due to how convenient its mechanics were.
That being;
- Acquiring an item would automatically save its appearance in your collection.
- You can then apply the appearance of any item in your collection to items you have equipped (You don't need to keep or equip the specific item that the appearance is from)
- You had standard limitations of only like items appearances being used (Plate armour > Plate armour. Swords > Swords. Etc)
The only notable annoyance is that the "Transmog" is applied to the item rather than the equip slot. Meaning any time you got a new item, you'd have to go and transmog it to keep your appearance the same (In the meantime you might look stupid)
Would be curious whether others want this too.
Personally, I did already make a
thread about it.
I would very much like a transmog system, as being able to keep characters to a particular design theme or utilise cool looking items that have bad stats enhances my enjoyment.
Ideally, it would be a system that doesn't actually require an item to be equipped (Like "Visual Equipment Slot" designs) as such things can be limiting (I.e. Character A has a design theme that fits an item that Character B wants to use due to their build, but Character B's design theme is not conducive to the item in question. Or maybe you just want your party to have matching designs which is impossible unless you have multiple copies of items)
