Hi all!

I have a small problem that, although easily avoided, is a little anoying.

Infequently (about every 30 times or so) I load a game, and it finishes loading. I am able to fight, move around, ect.. All seems normal except the mini-map is completely blue (I have a screenshot, but no where to host it, I'll send it via email on request). Now, whenever I use my pyramids, zone to a new location, save/load a game, or try and view the large map/diary the game crashes.

Like I said, this is easily avoided by just shutting the game down, and starting it agian. I know it will happen becausem the blue mini-map gives it away. But, I was wondering if anyone else has this problem.

It has so far only occured when I have been reloading for better loot. I doubt it is a corrupt game, because these are saved games I have loaded before, and after I restart the game, it loads just fine.

Also, if I close, then re-open the mini-map, it goes back to normal but the game will still crash.

I am using Windows XP Pro.

Any ideas? I haven't tried re-installing the game because its not a huge deal, but I may just to see if it works. The problem is I can't just make it happen, it seems to be random.

EDIT: I am using version 1.34 of Divine Divinity

The same thing has happened to a few people, including myself, after reloading an excessive amount.

DATD does closing the mini-map prevent this problem? I assumed the blue mini map was a symptom of something else being wrong, and never tried closing it. There were only a couple things I reloaded enough to run into this problem, though.

Wow, fast response. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />
I will try that. Do you happen to know why that occurs? Since, the exact same save file will work both before and after the mini-map goes blue?

I would think it would be due to a memory leak or an error/corruption with something kept in RAM. Exiting Divinity releases the memory it was using, and re-starting sets up everything again.

That is actually what I was thinking. Something in the save game is reloaded multiple times. And like I said, its around every 30 loads or so. 32 is a base 2 number and maybe a pointer or some other data container is overflowing when the load count gets to 32 (possibly using a nibble -4 bits- to store it). I have not tested if the number of loads remains constant though.
