2 more new screenies for us to drool/criticise/duhh.

http://www.just-rpg.com/default.asp?pid=631

"We knew what our vision was, but after three years developing Divinity, it was hard to remain objective. The motivation to start Riftrunner was pretty much due to the encouragement and positive feedback we got from the fans." Lar

woohoo!!! RRR is made primarily for us who grovel before Larians for more more MORE MORE DD games!!!

"The stats system wasn’t the best in the world and as a result there were quite some balancing issues."

does this mean stats will be balanced or that there will be total change in system?

"... and you will be meeting characters from Divinity 1 when traveling through Riftrunner’s universe – though not how you would expect it I think."

totally twisted!!

".. You, the player, are a servant of the Divine with a distinct dislike for necromancers. You’re sent out on a mission to kill a particular nasty and powerful necromancer and as such things go, your encounter with him goes very wrong. You are dragged away by a very unfriendly demon to its own universe. There your adventure starts and contrary to what you might expect, you’ll find that it’s very linked to Rivellon, the land where the first Divinity started."

no more guessing on whether we'r playing as divine one anymore. & more twisties abound!!

" you have a psychopathic demon called Samuel who organizes a worldwide hunt for you, a necromancer who tries to control you (one of the problems of being in a demon’s universe), a strange new race who needs you to save them and a bunch of imps gone totally crazy. And as if that’s not enough, there’s chaos magic everywhere guaranteeing some very strange and twisted encounters indeed."

is this going to be as great as fallout in strange &twisted encounters?

"..a new character development system, with a new skill system and advanced character creation options; a new reputation system; the special function of real time generation of dungeons, maps and quests; and a better balanced equipment and trading system with many new and unique items."

some more questions answered. NEW skill system!! REAL-TIME generation of dungeons, map & quests!! the end of boring dungeon crawl, woohoo!! RRR has no way but up from here. game engine's been improved so it's more stable & save games are faster now according to lar.

" The new reputation system will have a big impact on the gameplay that gets generated within the random quest generator and on some of the sub quests. The new system will not let reputation interfere with the pre-scripted quests though since we got a lot of negative feedback about that in Divinity 1. However, with the generated ones, that's a different story."

rep system has more impact yet it won't 'break' any quest. well, that's according to my interpretation.

" I also have to add that while the Battlefields are generated worlds, some parts of it contain handcrafted surprises."

woohoo!! unique & set items, anyone?!?! & guess what people? it's really party-based!! not much detail on that yet though.... . & larians have made a point to reduce hack & slash in the game & ending is promised to be better than DD. historically DD was supposed to have party-based element.

"In terms of release date, well we are in the process of organizing Riftrunner to have a simultaneous worldwide release, but as a consequence there is a small chance that we may move the release date to very early Q1. But it won’t suffer from any major slippage"

guess we will have to wait till next year b4 enjoying one of the best RPG.

"There are many different types of fans but if there was something they liked about Divinity, they will definitely find it back in Riftrunner and if there was something they didn’t like about Divinity, chances are high that it’s been rectified in Riftrunner. I honestly think that if you like CRPGs, then you will most probably enjoy playing Riftrunner."

& that's the best news. Larians PAYS ATTENTION to US FANS!!! THANK YOU!!!

We reduced the amount of hack&slash to manageable levels since players were pretty unhappy about that.

GREAT ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I didn't like the hack 'n' slash part very much.

Divinity 1 originally had party members in it and we had to kick those because we were running behind schedule.

This explains some ... subtle "glitches" within the game, especially the writig on the package which says that one was able to compile some sort of party ( I don't remember the exact words).

[...] but we also have further plans to extend and develop the universe. I can&#8217;t mention them at the moment but they are very real.

That reminds me of a certain discussion in the old Forum ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

We once had a discussion about what other types of games we could imagine for the <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> Universe ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Riftrunner’s development is at an advanced stage. If it carries on reaching its milestones then we will have the game fully developed and ready by the end of Q4.

We're all going to have a <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/riftrunner.gif" alt="" /> Christmas! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Once you have mastered the Summoning Dolls feature, the resulting creatures will also be able to join your party.

Hmm this sounds like a interesting feature. Not only can you meet people and persuade them into your adventure you can *summon* something that will join your party. Though from the wording it may be if you summon something of the wrong alignment then maybe it attacks you? Interesting to see.

This Battlefield stuff sounds very interesting too. Handmade surprises eh? That sounds both good and bad due to the varying difficulty levels in the battlefields, I bet that some will be quite unpleasant mayhaps. Hmmm and this reputation effecting almost everything (except for the main quest) well now, that sounds like it gives a LOT more room for exploring some evil tendancies hmmmm.

All in all, it sounds like a must have (but hey its part of divinity so of course it is). Now I just can't get out of my head from that post above sung to that ol' tune All's I want for Christmas.

All's I want for Christmas is RRR

I remember a counter counting down towards the "Euro-Time" (use of the Euro in Germany).

I saw it a short time AFTER the Euro had been released - and it still counted ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I burst in laughter ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

The first screen looks wonderful - a lot of detail. I like the painting on the wall! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

And...i love the fact that Larian listens to us! They could be like the Lionheart guys, and not really give a crap.
I hope they don't get big enough that they don't listen to their fans anymore.

Thanks guys!

Collectively, they included a strong and believable storyline, immersive dialogues, and the high interaction with NPC’s, enemies and the majority of objects within the universe. Then we come to elements like the open-ended character development system, the flexible combat system, and the huge assortment of engrossing quests.

Speaking of Lionheart, Carrie, I downloaded the demo, but it just rubs me off the wrong way... What did you think of it? I'm not sure if I'm going to buy it yet.

I do know that Black Isle/Interplay has lost my respect as a former fan, and they probably won't be getting my business any time soon... the way they handled their community forums and the Jefferson project was disgraceful.

There has already been a lot of features announced for Riftrunner that fans wanted, and this is definitely a good thing. It shows that our comments on here matter... no matter how disorganized... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Actually the Black Isle team which made Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment left and founded Obsidan Studios which are now teamed up with Bioware.
