this was something that would be much fun:
what about minigames in the upcomming game?
i liked the boxing fight ( it wasn't a real minigame) but those kind of things...
like
- a beer contest
- a race with horses? with a dwarven racecar?
imagion a big arena full of people, and you had to race against dwarves ,elves, orcs and imps ..or DEMONS?
- find your way out of a maze in time..
- shoot targets with a bow..
- a fighting tournament?
- a chess game
- some thing (death herself)is following you and you have to get rid of it. by hiding?? (hide and seek)

just some ideas..

- find your way out of a maze in time.. 0/10 NO in time related quests or mini games, absolutly not, not in a million years not EVER. - shoot targets with a bow.. 6/10 (realy more for DIV2 kind of hard to implement in 2D)

- a chess game 4/10 (I like chess but I don't play <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> to play hours of chess <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" />)

i also like the idea of some fun mini games, but nothing that is so difficult you wind up spending more hours on the minigames than on the real game.

yes, but it's the fun-factor of the entire game that's important isn't it? and this will sure contribute to it

final fantasy series are full of mini-games, i think.

& GROM is really full of it, so much that it's almost 50%-60% of the entire game. that doesn't ruin the game. it enhances it. 2 bad the game ended 2 soon.

What about a casino <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.

Easy way to earn or lose money. Maybe if if you win a lot you can gamble skillpoints(training my poker face, what about this pokerface <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> or this <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" />).

gambling is in fallout tactics. bargaining by using cards to reflect emotions is in grom. we need a more inventive way for RRR or DD2.

I don't like the idea of mini games. I'm tired of having to play the same old games and puzzles in every little adventure game. I want something new and original, or at least old and neatly disguised. In Quest for Glory 1 they had the Mage's Maze game which was fun. It involved your character's skills in an original mini-game. The other problem with mini games is that they detract from role-playing. you have to be yourself to complete the mini-games. I suck at chess, yet why can't my mage with 112 Intelligence win at it? Similarly a charcter with high Agility should have a better chance at winning darts. But if the character plays them, they're not really mini games anymore, just challenges with prerequisits.

mini-games aren't a must 2 play. so are side quests. if u don't like it, don't tread on it. still i feel it should be included as it makes a game more colourful. of course it's optional as well. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Idea:
The more intelligent you are, the easier the chess game is!
Or
You chose if you want to play the game yourself or let your PC do it (depends on Intelligence)

But like juggut said, you do not HAVE to play it, ok? What if you encounter a deamon K'hazpahrow who wants to play chess with you? You can always refuse if you suck at them.

i think if implemented the wright way, minigames (even in a rpg) have a positive influence on the player.

finding your way home in the rifts of time,
something like as in the "house of madness" in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />

beauty paegant(sorry, forgotthe spelling) for female characters. u have to compete for best dressed(evening wear & no swimsuit), most intelligent/witty, most contribution to demonkind in demon dimension, & all the usual things they have in miss demon universe. permanent change can be golden aura for the champion. cosmetic effect which won't affect gameplay. will be nice if once in a while in town people or children will flock the character & say, she's beautiful, or we used to go to the same school together, or hey it's miss demon universe!

mr demon universe. presented by former champion, arhu smokegenerator(alternate arnold schwarzeneger), male characters have the chance to compete for best abs, best bicep/tricep, best butt(kiya's dreaming of this, i'm sure), best accent(i'll be back kind of thing) & the rest. winner will be rewarded with graphically buffed up character. won't affect stats therefore gameplay. once in a while women will flock around champion character when in town. gay NPC's will aggresively seek the character as well. **shudder**

But I think what it really needs is some drinking games to go with all the alcohol you can drink!

Like spin the bottle and stuff heh. It can be informational aswell!!! instruct the youth of today how to play all these drinking games.

And how about strip poker!!! Where if you lose a game, you loose a piece of armour you are wearing, and if you win, you gain a piece of armour from the char that looses!

that'll make the game riftdrinker, or riftdrunkard, or beerrunner, or riftbubba, or riftweiser, or guiness rift. don't drink & rift.
