How does one kill the death-rider/dragon-rider in the dark forest?

Make sure your resistances are up. If not, have some purple potions with you and drink them up when you're in a battle with a dragon-rider. Also have a lot of healing or restoration potions with you. Dragon-riders usually have low lightning resistance so if you have a spell that has electical damage, use it. Distract them if you can by using the spell, Skeletal Wall. Otherwise, shoot them with arrows and just be a little patient or use something like splitting arrows, hell spikes, or deadly disks.

steel scorpion is another alternative but that takes the challenge out of the fight. your call.

I used polymorph for the Rak-Sheen, the dragon rider in version 1.34. Then I had a tremendous trouble finding the little frog in the castle. found him on the mini map as a green cross and targeted it with lightning. This spell follows the enemy. Tested this to find out, if I get the dragonheart gem = did it.

Another time I simply used elemental hail - and froze him first. But Elemental hail is so strong, freeze isn't really necessary.
