Here, I pointed out what a subgenius Marcus is!

Now for a story about what a subgenius I, uhh, I mean Lae'zel is!

"Super Lae'zel" is the nickname I gave Lae'zel with Helldusk Armor, Silver Sword, and support staff to keep her hasted and with the +2 AC spell from Shadowheart. Otherwise she solos everything while they hide away, staying out of combat, or if attacked, healing themselves but not striking back.

Super Lae'zel takes care of the worst business no problemo, and is quite fun. I run on "pseudo honor", honor ruleset but as much savescumming as you need. So far never needed it for a fight.

Until now. Spoilers follow.

I had to do the Thaniel fight, where you abuse a demon-infested kid (clever writers, you chop down his force field to win, not actually whomping on him! Did you notice that?)

So he portals out from the abandoned house. I split the party, cast haste and +2 AC on her, and she steps through the portal.

Fight goes pretty well. I can ignore the 1 hp tinies and focus down the big foes and the giant stuffed spirit owl bears (again, very clever!) taking whomps on his bubble as the situation allows it.

Occasionally though a tiny whomps me real good, for like a third of my prodigious 16 CON level 9 health. I've amassed 9 Supreme healths, but need to start chugging them every round to keep up with it. Well, I have enough I should be able to keep up...ooh,yeah, yeah, better put on the periapt...I can keep up...

Keep up...

What? I just have a sliver of health left, and have already chugged this round. It's not likely I will get hit by any one thing, but there are so many...so many...

One connects and down I go.

Reload, same thing happens again. This time I've had it, so I violate my Super Lae'zel rule and pull the support through and let them deal. Two of the three go down, the other is a sliver but they pull it off, and off Thaniel goes to re-merge.

But Lae'zel has died. After rest I see Loviatar's Love is gone.

This will not stand! Reload and try a third time.

It goes better as I'm more focused, but then I get into the same problem again. I realize the Pixie's Blessing is gone, at some point it went away, probably TPing the group back to the Myconid Colony to restock on potion mats. No matter. It is gone.

I've been taking major whomps from the Shadow Curse the entire fight.

God Lae'zel is an idiot!

Hmm, it looks like you missed an important feature.

If you damage the dome, the damage is reflected back on the hitter. Double the value, if I 'm correct. Although maybe that changes with difficulty level. So you lose HP fast if you attack and hit it.
The trick is to kill the "little ones" as they suck power from the dome, and leave the dome alone. Wear it down by killing all the summoned spirits.

I figured that out at partway through, so compensated by avoiding it, but was still getting chewed down too fast for Supremes + periapt to compensate. I even started to wonder if the 1 hps also blew up like mephits do. I then took off whatever it was that did radiant to whatever hits me, so they wouldn't be a factor.

I put the Pixie's Blessing back on, and redid the fight, no problem that time.

Her 8 INT finally caught up with her!
