No, I didn't hit him accidentally! It was in camp.
He had just joined me in camp. I petted him twice, then went and picked up the random ball, not his special one, which doesn't even exist yet, and threw it for him to go get it.
I was on the other side of the camp, and he wasn't coming to get it (I couldn't see him) so I clicked on it and wandered over to pick it up again.
At that moment, he appeared, apparently still chasing it from afar. I grabbed it just before he got there.
Combat! Scratch didn't like me grabbing it first!
Thankfully not honor mode, but geeze, what a way to find out a very rare interaction.
