Hi
Disclaimer: all the behaviours described below were observed on saves where I've made use of the Character Editor from AnthonyZJiang. I'm not sure if I can post the link for their github page here, so I won't. /End of Diclamer
I played a first run of DOS Enhanced Edition for around 100 hours and all went fine. I started a second run after completely finishing the first one and I noticed some encounters were missing, some locks were already opened, some traps were already disarmed. I didn't pay much attention to that until the Black Cove, where some very important doors were unlocked and some very dangerous instruments were already destroyed. Ok, I insisted still and went to the Silverglen area and things got really weird. First most encounters were already fought for example:
Near Silverglen there's a fight with three plants and a couple earth elementals. They were all but one plant dead. Their residues were already there at the ground, as if I had just killed them.
To make things worst the game started crashing at every battle and most dialogues. Two places where it consistently crashed are described on the spoiler below, but they are not the only ones.
The same one plant from above: on the second round or around the 7th or 8th character to act, the game simply crashs.
The dialogue with Alfie's owner. I forgot the name of the guy, but it's the couple lost on the forest fleeing from the Hunter's Edge, with a hurt giant Ox type of fantastic animal.
I tried creating a new profile. On a new game on this second profile, I used the Save Editor to get my sneak to 99 and went to test the Black Cove and the the place had every sign of previous visits (open door, disabled traps, missing encounters). I also copied my crashing game to this new profile and the game consistently crashed at the same spots. Finally, I tried reinstalling the game and copying the crashing save... and it's still crashing.
Technical information:
I'm on PC (windows 11). The Windows Event Viewer show an error on EoCApp.exe, version : 2.0.119.430, and on ntdll.dll, version : 10.0.26100.7623 with Exception code: 0xc0000005. On the base of these errors and some forum digging, I reinstalled C++ Redistributables, as well as running the game with DirectX 9 instead of 11. Didn't work.
I believe the two behaviours are linked somehow. Perhaps using the Save Editor had somehow broken my game?
Edited because I posted the message half way throw.
