I'm not sure where else to go with this because googling turned up nothing so here I am.

I have just finished my second playthrough (first of DOS2:DE) and I was wondering what are the requirements to have Fane, as your companion, ascend to Divinity and/or bring his people back?

I have agreed to give divinity to him back in Act 3 but since that fell though, it pretty much went nowhere. And refusing to ascend at the end of Act 4 just leads to God King doing his thing and everyone is either angry or sad.

I definitely know this is possible since I've seen videos of it up on youtube. And one in particular is where you pursue a romance with him and he still brings his people back. So I assume there must be a way to have high attitude with him and have him ascend. I just want to know how.

It's been a couple of months now and I still have no idea how to get any of your non-player companions to lay claim to divinity. If anybody can help at all; advice, saved games, I'll take anything. I just really want to know how to support a party member rather than have them support you.

I've managed to discover a bit of a workaround. It's not perfect but it actually lead to better results than I was originally hoping for. Funnily enough you can get any of your companions to choose to become divine if you just have another player join you and take control of that companion and only that companion and then have them choose to take the power of divintiy for themselves.

In essence, it changes absolutely nothing for "Purge the wolrd of source" and "Give source to the people" endings however...

I chose Fane to become Divine as I originally intended and most of the game proceeds as though you were the new divine which means that a lot of people are quite quite happy with the outcome even though the war against the war is still raging on. Moreover according to Fane himself his people, the eternals are back and even though you can confront him about enslaving your people, the epilogue slides mention nothing of the sort. And while this is clearly a bug I quite enjoy this outcome ragardless.

There's this mod which allows companions to ascend; really it resets it to the way it was before one of the bug fixes.
