If you want melee but not a fighter you can go with a Monk Lae'Zel.

I'm against fully voice acted MC. People should understand this will limit the dialogue options. I wasn't even satisfied with dialogue options we had in Bg3.

Re: Video Settings Bug Hygor Haas Yesterday at 02:01 PM
I ran into almost the same thing after patching BG3, my settings just wouldn't stick even after editing the files manually. What finally solved it for me was launching the game as administrator, then making changes and exiting right after. That forced the config to save properly the next time. It’s definitely buggy, especially after some new updates.

Game Crashing After Long Rest {PS5} justinburchette Yesterday at 01:53 PM
Hey, y'all.

So, I made a post on Reddit about this a while ago... but basically this is what's happening to me:

In either Rivington or the Lower City (it doesn't matter which area), after I take a long rest... I am essentially "stuck" in whatever area I took that rest in. If I try to transition to another area, the game will crash to the Home Screen. If I try to reload a save after long resting, the game will crash to the Home Screen.

It doesn't seem to matter what camp I use; at first I thought it was specifically the Elfsong camp — but nope, it's all of them. Because of course it is. As long as I don't long rest... then everything seems to be fine. But the moment I do, this is what happens.

Ever since Patch 8 & the latest Hotfix, Act III seems to be borderline unplayable for me. I have a list on my phone of things that are guaranteed to make the game crash (renting the room at the Elfsong is one of those things, as is saving anywhere near the Stormshore Tabernacle... for some reason) — and so far I've been able to circumvent those crashes through rigorous trial & error... but this one is beyond me. I cannot figure out a workaround here.

Mostly at this point I'm just wondering if I'm the only one having these issues. I've uninstalled / reinstalled the game, and cleared the cache... nothing seems to make a difference. Is anybody else out there playing on the PS5 also experiencing these constant crashes in Act III? And if so, did anything help you...? I should also note that I'm playing as a Durge origin (I have no idea if that matters in the slightest), and that I never experienced these constant crashes until after I got into Act III. Before that, everything worked just fine.

Anyways, apologies for the long post — and thanks in advance to anyone who responds! :‎)

Further to this, if you decide to allow characters to use multiple weapon sets (Be it BG3 style where everyone gets a melee + ranged weapon, or a more freeform where it can be any 2 sets of usable weapons) then you should always show both weapon sets. None of this BS where you pull a weapon out of your butthole because it literally didn't exist until you swapped to it.

This could also come with a decision to make weapon bonuses only apply from your currently held weapon set, so that you're not incentivised to run around wearing stat sticks you have no intention of ever actually wielding (Such as in BG3 where you get the affects of both weapon sets at all times, thus you often equip weapons just for stat boosts, even if you literally can't even use a bow you'll still just have it for a passive boost)

Did not really read the last two paragraphs after the link (to someone I do not consider an expert, but with some cool ideas ...) last time but I cannot enough support the proposals and want to cite them again. It's especially mindnumbing that you can profit fro example from a shield while actually using a bow or enhance your crit chance with a sword by carrying a bow with such stats, and so on.

Re: Attractive romance options + Better character creation papercut_ninja Yesterday at 10:52 AM
I think for creating your own character there should be a variety of options to make every kind of appearance, from conventionally handsome to unattractive so that I can roleplay the type of character I'd like. Most important to me is that races are unique and stand out from one another so that I am not simply limited to creating a few variations of pretty human.

In terms of the world-building, companions and NPCs I think it should have a realistic representation where having pretty privilege is something that makes certain people stand out. When everyone are conventionally attractive, it's not a privilege.

System

  • VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Battlemage G21 [Arc B580]
  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor
  • B550M PRO-VDH WIFI (MS-7C95)

BG3 is installed through GOG.com using Heroic Launcher on Ubuntu 25.10.

Issue

Starting up BG3 choosing Vulkan reaches a Crash To Desktop when the shader generation reaches ~95%

It is possible to play BG3 choosing DirectX but the framerate is hurting.

Re: how to start split screen co-op on switch 2? mrnervous Yesterday at 09:10 AM
As far as I understand, the game offers single-player, local multiplayer (using multiple consoles and multiple game copies), and online multiplayer.

I have tested all available multiplayer options, both local (wireless) and online, but I was unable to get multiplayer working in any form.
In all cases, no lobby is shown for the second player/console, making it impossible to join a game.

I would also like to add that I purchased the game specifically for this multiplayer functionality,
as playing together offline/online was the main reason for my purchase.

The two consoles were running slightly different internal build versions:

Switch 1: 3.6.117.3733
Switch 2: 3.6.117.3735

Unfortunately, I did not have access to a second Nintendo Switch 2 with the exact same build version to verify whether multiplayer would work under identical versions.

At this point, I assume that we may need to wait for a fix,
and I sincerely hope that a bug fix or patch will be released soon,
as the multiplayer feature currently appears to be unusable despite correct setup.
