Please note that the version number for consoles changes to 4.1.1.6254950 PC remains at 4.1.1.6072089 Cross-saves remain unaffected.
Hey everyone,
We’ve got a small console-only hotfix headed your way today that resolves some stability and performance issues when using mods.
Console Platform File Limits
Now that there are more than 100 mods available to download on console, we need to have a serious chat. Who plays with more than 100 mods in a single save you might ask? Well, as it turns out, there’s a handful of you.
Unlike PC, consoles can only juggle so many files at once. The more mods you have installed, the quicker this file limit is reached. Now that some of you have been trying to play with more than 100 mods, you’ve been letting us know that you’re experiencing slow loading times or even game crashes.
While we recommend only installing the mods you know you’ll definitely continue playing with, to maximise stability, we’re introducing a 100-mod limit for console platforms
Already Reached 100 Mods?
This change comes in today’s console-only hotfix that introduces the limit, and depending on how many mods you already have installed, you may see different messaging when you next load your game.
If you’ve already got more than 100 mods enabled on a console save, you won’t be able to load it for the time being. If you play on both PC and console using cross-saves and have more than 100 mods enabled on a save, you may be able to disable the number of active mods from your PC, so that you can continue accessing your cross-save on console.
We’ll be shipping another fix soon that will aim to give you the means to access console saves that are disabled after today’s update. However, it is important to note that mods can cause general instability, particularly on console, and depending on the mods you’ve had enabled on a save, you may run into issues when certain mods are disabled.
More Mods Being Tested For Console
If you’re playing with cross-saves enabled, you will need to respect console limits when playing on PC. While we are working on bringing cross-play to Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll also need to keep this limit in mind when playing with PC players! But more on that later.
More Mods Being Tested For Console
Our Senior Communications Developer, Aoife, is back with another video that details how mods make their way to consoles! Learn more about the technical limitations and guidelines in place, as well as the processes behind console mod curation, including the importance of testing mods.
The team is working hard to test the latest versions of some mods currently available on console so they may be updated, and will continue to approve new mods that meet our guidelines and have successfully passed testing!
MODDING - On console, added a 100-mod limit to prevent stability issues. Savegames that exceed this limit cannot be loaded for the time being. A follow-up fix is planned to give you the means to restore these saves.
GAME Crashes and Blockers - On Xbox, fixed a crash when suspending the game while flicking through the multiplayer lobby settings.
Hello. I am aware that there are some console issues and that there may be a pause on reviews. My request is for a review as soon as it is reasonable, that is all.
I have a Random Spawn mod that also includes difficulty increase options for players and think it would be very well-received. There IS a dependency, also one of my mods, but it is very easy to test (it's basically just a bag for collecting my mod items). If you have any problems with the mod while reviewing it, please do let me know and I will be happy to handle any issues that come up. Thanks!
