Thatโs a really interesting take โ I completely agree that her backstory could make for an amazing cinematic intro or even a standalone prequel. Even if itโs something that only modders or indie devs could make happen, it shows just how much potential Minthara has as a character. Iโd love to see Larian explore that one day โ she truly deserves it. ๐

Are there any plans to make the steam deck native build available via GOG? I bought BG3 on GOG before I owned a Steam Deck. Now that I do have a deck, while the windows version from GOG runs via Proton, I would love to have the performance benefits of the native version.
It feels a bit unfair for those who happened to buy the game on GOG to be denied access to the Steam deck native build.

Update: For Gale's step, had him memorize the spell first, then cast it and pick up from there. Does not work! If there's a way for both Gale and Tav to have perma-Shovel, I can't find it. Only seems to work when Gale casts directly from the scroll.
BTW this works for other classes besides Sorcerer, though I haven't tried all. Shovel is a spell under the Common tab in the spellbook, after respec back to whatever.

BG3 Crashing on High-End PC โ Worked Fine on Old Machine

I know a similar topic already exists, but it's 2 years old and I'm not sure about necroposting rules. So I'm creating this one, and if moderators prefer, I can post in the old thread instead.
Here's the problem:
I have two PCs. One is for internet browsing โ it's a total mess, super laggy, full of viruses, and the hardware is really old. But it happened that the first time I played BG3, it was on that trash PC โ and I played for 170 hours without a single crash. Not one!
Now I'm playing BG3 again on my gaming PC, which I only use for AAA games like Witcher, Cyberpunk, Skyrim, etc. The system is very clean โ used exclusively for gaming, and I reinstall Windows every 6 months with fresh drivers. Never had any problems running any AAA games on high or ultra settings. Hardware is solid and barely used. But with BG3, every 1โ2 hours the game restarts the entire computer (huge thanks to the person who implemented the 50 quicksaves feature)
The only real differences between the two setups are:
- Trash PC: online + Full HD - Gaming PC: offline + 4K
Everything else people usually mention โ like bad PSU, outdated drivers, or corrupted files โ is baseless speculation. The issue clearly comes down to only two factors: offline mode or 4K resolution, nothing else.
Any ideas? Anyone had a similar experience?

No Aura of Hate

Hey ya'll, first time here, first time posting.
I had my current level 11 vengence paladin break his oath by allowing Astarion to ascend. I didn't know that was going to happen, but I decided to live with being an oath breaker once I found out how aura of hate's charisma bonus stacks with pact weapons charisma bonus if I put just one level into hexblade.
So when I got back to camp and embraced being the oathbreaker, I got all the cool oathbreaker abilities - except aura of hate. It was nowhere to be found even after a long rest. Double checked my spell list, nothing. Super lame.
Is this a known bug, or just a "sucks to be me" moment?

I think you never explicitly say or have to stay that you won't take over the Brain and I feel the companions are still justified in feeling betrayed when you do. Lae'zel probably never told you that she would never threaten you again if you do something incredibly stupid either. You might have noticed she isn't someone to talk things out over tea and biscuits. I mean, I think I understand what you want, but I do get why they react the way they do, so I don't quite understand the outrage - or much of the reasoning. In real life, we would know each other's steps years in advance, but that requires hundreds of hours of interaction. The game can't afford such luxury, so instead it uses a simplistic approval scale to replace or "replicate" those long hours of bonding. When I see 100, I assume we've gone through that lengthy process of connection - where you know everything about your partner: all beliefs, motivations, dreams, health issues, past enemies and friends, food preferences, etc... Instead, at 100 approval, the game flips me off and Laezel threatens to kill me. It's like your partner stabbing you in the back after ten years of happy life just because you didn't help her criminal brother escape jail (for example). If the game designers truly wanted unpredictable characters, these approval numbers should be thrown in the garbage. Otherwise, it's nothing but trolling and mockery. And yes, I mostly talk about Laezel - I'm still fuming over that Emperor vs. Orpheus choice. It's just so poorly designed. Just like that binary choice with Shadowheart and Aylin - no middle ground. Casting "Friends" and canceling it repeatedly is a super efficient GTFO mechanic. Nah, that's metagaming - I don't do that. what makes the rest of the gang bad friends? their hairy asses

I'm playing a new Durge campaign. Her name : Eklavdra. House : unknown. She started as a Lolth-sworn Drow monk, drunken master. Fate has not been kind to the companions, as Durge has trouble suppressing the urges. Gale was the first to go, remaining stuck in the stone, his hand chopped off. Next was Astarion. When he tried to bite me he received a stake from the campfire through the heart. When my slumber was interrupted by Lae'zel and Shadowheart quarreling over the prism, I took the side of Lae'zel. ( A blatant lie from Mol) I could not roll a peaceful settlement. Guex attacked me and all the tieflings on the rampart, who had just minutes ago welcomed me as their hope and saviour, also turned against me. Most shockingly, Wyll also joined their side. Even though he had been present when we talked to Mol. He knew the accusations were lies and still he decided to betray the party at this critical moment. So that was the end of my peace-for-the-grove plan, and the end of Wyll. Karlach had fought on my side against the tieflings, but after the combat was over, she wished me good luck and left for good. So when Minthara came, she and her goblin army simply had to walk in. Together we laid waste to the rest of the grove. After the celebration I had a love night with Minthara, while we snoozed in eachother's arms when morning came, an urge came up to snap her neck, which then just happened. I think Minthy would understand. I'll probably lose her too, because I'm not really enclined to visit the creche Ylek. It was nice the first 2 or 3 times, but after that, the quest became boring and I only continued to do it for Lae'zel. I think I'll skip it now and she'll probably leave me. I'm not sure if I will finish this PT. It feels kinda lonely without the companions. Don't know yet what I 'm going to do with Isobel either when I get there. I've never ran the gauntlet of Shar and the soulcage without Shart. And I'm curious what will happen with Withers' reunion party if all of the companions are dead or have left. I did another grymforge fight, and a magma mephit launched a fire breath on Lae'zel who was in melee combat with Grym, who was also in the cone. Now Grym is immune to fire damage, but the mephit got marked as target anyway, and so Grym turned against the critter and wasted an action to kill it.

Already submitted a bug report, but when I looked it up this is a bug that apparently existed during the Patch 8 Stress Test already and it hasn't been fixed yet. Cross-platform, for many people, once the man of many rats becomes a single Dark Justiciar and combat starts, he will start blinking in and out of existence rapidly. On PC you can sort of attack "normally" by rapidly clicking his icon on the turn bar at the top, on other platforms your only option is AoE because he becomes entirely untargetable. His own turns are bugged as well, he keeps blinking for a while and then skips his turn entirely.
Some people have found workarounds to get him out of it, like shoving, but I tried and the problem actually got a lot worse. I used Eldritch Blast with Repelling Blast, but instead of him stopping blinking, he kept blinking and the sound and visual effect of Eldritch Blast kept looping as well. In fact, other statuses inflicted upon him like Reverb and Radiating Orb also had their sound and visual effects looping. It was quite the techno beat at some point.
More seriously though, it's been around for a while now apparently and it makes the fight needlessly annoying or even game-breaking for people on consoles that don't come to the conclusion of using AoEs on him and are unable to attack because of that. I personally also have a milder case of epilepsy and I was totally fine, but I can definitely see others with different forms of epilepsy getting in trouble with the fast blinking and looping of visuals as the fight escalates with more and more effects. I know every game always comes with a seizure warning and all that, but I imagine it's not meant for a secret strobe light surprise that's been in the game since Patch 8's Stress Test in January now from what I've read on all the threads on other sites concerning this issue.
So please hotfix Lyrthindor's bugged encounter. Thanks!

Move certain books/letters to a later map to avoid spoilers

Kept the title spoiler-free, but in case anyone's not that far yet and is still here reading, it's about books and letters in act 2 Moonrise Towers, First Floor that are spoilers for the upcoming cinematics and the start of act 3 as well in fact. I'm talking about the book " Elder Brain Domination". It's a short read, but it basically talks about a lot of plot points that get revealed right before the boss fight in act 2 and some that become clear early in act 3. Almost every single sentence in that book is supposed to be a big reveal in upcoming cinematics, but it's just lying there under loose planks and no one in the party responds to reading it in any way whatsoever. At the start of act 3 Gale is exhilarated about the big reveal on Netherese magic and the Crown of Karsus, even though he already knew because he read the book in Ketheric's bedroom earlier. Jaheira specifically asks for intel on anything Ketheric and Absolute related, because aside from undoing Ketheric's immortality, gathering intel is the main mission for her. And yet, we can't use the book to talk about it with her or even straight up give it to her. So they're not only spoilers for the upcoming cinematics for the player, but there's also no reactivity in the world when it comes to this mother lode of information, possibly the single most plot revealing book of the game. Next to that, the same room also has the letter " Missive from Gortash". Another short read, outlining that Gortash knows about the Gith Artefact and is in a position where he's working together with Ketheric and even ordering him to do things. At this point you can easily not have talked to Florrick at Last Light Inn and she'll still go through with going ahead to Baldur's Gate and will try to work with Gortash to stop Ketheric. So not only is the big reveal that Gortash is working with Ketheric spoiled by this letter, you also have zero agency after reading it to stop Florrick from walking into a trap in your conversation with her. Obviously you can't add new dialogue lines or more world reactivity at this point, so by far the easiest option would be to just move the book and the missive from Ketheric's bedroom to the boss room in the Mind Flayer Colony, either on his body or on the table with the other books that are there. That way you can't get spoiled much, the book will be a nice recap for people overwhelmed by the cutscene reveals, and it would make sense that you couldn't warn Florrick as you learned the information about Gortash too late.

Thanks. I'm almost lvl 6, so I 'll take that as a bard level still. Good advice. I'll probably take the multiclass after that for the armor. (I already played a full bard in a previous PT, and I liked that a lot, but trying new variants is also fun , and I do want to do something more with Falar Aluve than just let it sing in the background)
