Confirming Safe Removal of ActivatePersistentLevelTemplate Queries in ModWrapper_Gustav? Stoi Yesterday at 05:59 PM
Not too long ago, I posted about a bug in the Modding forum.
Apparently, no one knows what to do with it.

So, I wanted to ask Larian directly:
Plz confirm if removing the 2 queries involving ActivatePersistentLevelTemplate from
ModWrapper_Gustav -> Start -> Test may or may not cause camp trigger failure.

Self-same trial changed after patch 8 ? ldo58 Yesterday at 12:19 PM
I 'm back in Shar's gauntlet and did the self-same trial, for the 4th or 5th or 6th time, I don't remember exactly. But something seemed different.
Shar was always cheating of course. The so-called replicaa's are not humanoid, so they have resistances against certains spells , shoves, and also attack resistances that your party doesn't have.

But now, I also saw a difference in HP. My Tav has 60 HP, the replica had 94.
There was a replica of Astarion. Astarion has the shadow of Menzoberanzan cap, which he used to become invisible. But, he could also attack and immediately become invisible again.
I had 2 characters with "see invisibility", so when he became visible I cast Tasha's laughter on him, he didn't save and ROFL'd but..... became invisible again nevertheless.
Next time he failed the invis savethrow and popped in sight, I shot an arrow, which hit and... after hitting he became invisible again.

It was a weird and somewhatr hopeless fight, but alltogether we finally did get fake Astarion down. Then WE were punished for cheating by Shar.

This is all on "balanced mode" mind you.

Accessibility for dyslexic people PixelAgora Yesterday at 10:05 AM
I am unsure if this is doable or something that's of any interest to Larian, but I figured I will say it anyway:

I'm dyslexic. Reading unbroken text in most fonts is difficult, as certain letters look very similar to one another, and they confuse me. What this means practically is that, much as I may wish to, I don't tend to read most of the books and notes I pick up on my BG3 journey. It's tiresome, and in an environment that already requires me to expend considerable cognitive energy, I have to pick my battles (sometimes literally - hah).

I'd recently discovered a type of font that's designed for easy legibility for dyslexic people (an example is Open Dyslexic, a free to use font) and it has been a game changer. Letters stay where they should be and I don't have to strain to read. For the first time in my life I can glide my eyes over the text and my brain automatically knows what to do with it.

I am wondering if it would be at all possible to introduce a toggle-able option to change the normal BG3 font (beautiful, mind, and aesthetically pleasing as it may be) to something a bit more dyslexic friendly.

I know this is an extremely long shot. I know this is not something people readily think about, and on the laundry list of accessibility features needed in video games, this is pretty far down. There is also a lot that goes into designing video game UI and I know it's certainly not as simple as clicking a single button. I am putting this out here, however, holding out hope for the fraction of a chance that someone will read this and be inspired to keep us dyslexic people in mind, if not in this project, then maybe the next.

Thank you if you've read this far, and thank you for an amazing game I keep coming back to. Cheers!

Kar'niss' Moonlantern From The Rooftop Shadowbart 15/05/25 04:50 PM
So I rolled with Kar'niss to get to Moonrise Towers, then he clumb up the side of the tower, cya!

Later, I clicked the red door inside leading to the rooftop. I got frowny-faced by the locals. I clicked it again, now I'm getting in deep, at this point they probably didn't want to sell me a McRibb. Now I was irritated.

I decided to keep clicking it until they attacked, or at least gave me a go to prison option. Click, frowny-face. Click, boom, on the roof!

I made it through. For the fun of it, I tried to solo the roof. I had clicked separated down below, so no companions were companionating.

Lo and behold, success! Not counting Kethric of course.

Got Kar'niss' moonlantern and left.

Now I had 3 moonlanterns. This, the one from Balthazar's room, and the Shadow Lantern, which now provides moonlantern protection, thanks Patch 8!

But Kar'niss' no longer had a pixie whining in it to save and get the protection buff.

On examination, according to the "Examine Lantern" spell thing that appears when you hold it:

Balthazar's: Dead pixie inside. This is illogical because it's a proper moonlantern, not a broken one.
Shadow Lantern: Dead pixie inside. This is logical because we made it with a dead pixie, and it's the shadow lantern, with different properties.
Kar'niss's: No such examine lantern power. I even checked the list of powers from 'i' key, all tabs. It does appear for characters holding the other two.

Did I find a path the famed failsafe devs didn't consider? I'd at least expect the Examine power to appear, even if it gave some technobabble as to why the Pixie was done with me. Also, a dead pixie seems wrong for Balthazar's, that's a lame excuse to not have a secondary one to free. If you don't want that, come up with a better technobabble than contradicting your own lore!

Anyway, I'm not gonna cry as I now have 3 people carrying bright Moonlanterns, and I put Light on myself, so we're running like a supernova through the Shadowlands.

some annoying things Hellfist 15/05/25 04:12 AM
First off, the pathing is just dumb, characters walking through fire and acid and such. The constant feeling like if i fart they may not smell it so they stick close to me, can we get a bit of room please. picking up objects, reaching them, going outside a house or room to pull it off the shelf through the wall, really. By the way who ev er did the scratch mod to let him find stuff and as a companion your awesome also the rope mod again great idea, have yet to see a game that lets you do the spells, fly, teleport and many more correctly, or just let me climb over things come on. But dispite this and other issues still was fun and i have begun another run trying to get with Shadow Heart and get the bard to travel with me, again, modder thanks, this time i got the minira to travel with me so i can get minsc. Reinstalling due to last hot fix screwed my game and has caused it to crash

This game is impossible to run DangerPizzaSlice 13/05/25 06:10 AM
Bought via steam, played till patch 5-6, then dropped for awhile.

Come back to check out patch 8 and it's just doesn't work.

If launching trough steam with larian launcher: {"message": "Invalid request body"} StatusCode1 BadRequest

If steam has shader cache on: Errors encountered when trying to gather the vulkan layers:
Fossilize ERROR: Failed to parse ApplicationInfoFilter, letting recording go through.

If launching from EXE inside the game folder - black screen and crash.

If i'm closing the steam, launching the game, it works but hours and achievements don't count, also saves are bugged, and i'm unlogged from larian.

If i launch a game, then launch steam, and create 2nd instance of the game, it launches without sound. Not even on the splash screen, complete silence.

I tried to: Reinstall OS, reinstall game, reinstall steam, reinstall NET framework all versions from 1 to 9, reinstalled everything. Tried all combinations of this and that, spent like 8+ hours trying to make this bullshit works, and it's impossible.

I genuinely don't want to play anymore and just hate all this in the most passionate way possible.

Buseker achievement. ldo58 12/05/25 10:46 PM
The busker achievement is gained when a bard collects 100 GP.
Steam shows a counter of your progress, and I noticed it stopped at 34/100. No matter how much gold I get thrown, it won't advance.
I can't say with certainty if it happened when patch 8 or the following hotfix was released. It might be. The counter went up when I started the PT and then stopped, not so long ago.
I have mods, but, the first 34 GP were counted with these same mods.

So if you have a bard in your PT and you're on steam, can you check if it works for you ?

[SPOILERS] Maybe just don't put evil choices in the next games? Worm 11/05/25 10:32 PM
This is something I kind of think about every time I hear people going on about they hate the Emperor and it's like, yeah of course you do. He's just such a mess of a character, he keeps a bunch of mementos under Elfsong tavern just to manipulate someone if they ever bring him there in an Astral Prism, unless you like him then he's capable of sentimentality. He doesn't really care what stupid and unsafe decisions you make except until the end where he just decides he'll surrender his free will (the only thing he cares about) because he unreasonably hates Orpheus even though he doesn't really care about the grand design or anything. The character is just so bafflingly stupid. He's more of a plot device than a real character.

This is the same for most of the evil characters they're base, stupid, and bumbling. Lorroakan, Kagha, The Dumb Three, and pretty much every absolutist.

I think it's the same for the evil choices available to the player. Purging the grove makes zero since under any kind of reasoning. It's clear the True Souls have no idea about the nature of their affliction and also have no clue that you're able to shake off the compulsion (this does bring into the question of how good the good choices are when we spend an entire game murdering people who are under compulsion that we have a unique ability to free them from but that's neither here nor there). So there's clearly just no benefit from helping the cult. Letting Balthazar have the Nightsong makes no sense and is dumb. Siding with the Emperor also doesn't really make sense, I guess maybe you can make the RP argument that there's NO WAY Orpheus could trust us so we better kill him.

This isn't really like something I want to debate and I do love the game a lot, but I just feel like it really does fail on any sense of shades of gray. Your choices are to be upright and just or just chaotic stupid. So given that I mean why put in this stuff? It might be funny letting us do messed up stuff like sell Aylin or send Wyll to hell and make Karlach watch, but if the majority of these choices are reductive, in that they lead to less rewards, less companions, and less story then why would anyone choose them? I think it's really lacking when you compare it to something like the Heretic playthrough of Rogue Trader which has a number of things that feel impactful.

I don't even think there's a huge problem with not having Evil choices.

Legendary Actions IAmMir 11/05/25 10:15 PM
I’m having such a hard time with Act 3 and it seriously makes me want to put the game down. SO, I’ve fought Sarevok, Orin, and now Cazador and all of these bosses are using Legendary Actions in EXPLORER difficulty. It’s literally unplayable when all I want is to have fun but it feels like I’m suffering in some Honor Mode loop. I’ve NEVER turned on or dabbled in Honor Mode (I play games to relax and have fun) so i don’t know what could be causing this. I have mods but they are cosmetic mods like hair, colors, hair extensions, more faces. Nothing to have a custom difficulty issue. I’m on PS5 and already submitted a bug report. Anyone else having these issues?

Adding a temporary weapon visual effect rvhausen 10/05/25 06:07 PM
Anyone know if there's a way to add a temporary visual effect to a weapon when casting a spell (so the effect would occur while casting, then disappear after casting) ?
Thanks.
