CODE OF CONDUCT

These Forums are a space to have fun and discuss Larian Studios games and related topics, a place for friendly discussion and to connect with fellow members of the community.

It's everyone's responsibility to keep this a safe and positive community. This space is for everyone regardless of gender, gender identity/expression, sexuality, religion, race, ethnicity, or nationality. Offensive content or harassment on this basis, either personal or generalised, will not be tolerated. Be respectful of your fellow forum members.

In the end, we are all here to have fun, and we want to encourage everyone to share the joy of games and to feel they have a voice and a space!

While we are fortunate to have an active moderator team that helps to keep the forums safe, our volunteers and Community Team are unable to continuously monitor ongoing discussions or mediate public debates. To report behaviour that violates these rules, please contact a Moderator.
After receiveing a report, our moderation team will review the post and take appropriate action. The team has been working with a three-strike warning system. If you are warned, you will receive a DM with the reason you are receiving the warning for. A second warning will result in a 24h ban, and a 3rd warning usually results on a permanent ban. Warnings might expire after some time if the user's behaviour has improved and no rules have been broken.
Please note: Moderation is handled privately, and there are no public announcements when moderation action has been taken.

If your last warning has resulted in a ban and you would like to appeal it, you can email forumbanappeals@larian.com. We will then review the circumstances of your ban. Please bear in mind this does not guarantee your ban will be lifted.

RULES

Your Personal Behaviour

Be respectful towards all forum members.
Do not use excessive or extreme language.
Do not attempt to bypass blocked phrases or words.
Remain constructive and respectful of others' opinions and gameplay styles.
Remain respectful of game narratives and character preferences.
Do not target any forum member, including the Development, Community, and Moderator teams, with harassment, abuse, threats, or toxicity. This extends to previous forum members, moderators, and ex-employees.
Do not mock, torment, or berate individuals for any reason, including gender, age, race, occupation, knowledge of or lack of knowledge regarding game lore or D&D in general.
Do not attempt to incite conversation around existing or past community drama or antecedent infighting.

Off-Topic Conversation, Spam, & Troll Posting

Do not bait, troll, or post spam in these forums.
Do not harass or repeatedly spam individuals or teams.
Do not purposefully derail conversation or antagonise community members.
Keep your messages relevant to the discussion and avoid copypastas, reaction image spam, and emoji spam.
If a Moderator has asked users to drop a topic, please do not double-down or continue discussing it.

Misinformation & Speculation

Do not impersonate any person or entity, including but not limited to, Larian Studios employees or moderators.
Do not attempt to spread or intentionally share misinformation and falsehoods.

Community Safety
These forums offer a public space for discussion, and as such, you may encounter opinions that are different from your own.
Healthy, respectful, and constructive conversation is encouraged. While discussion surrounding game themes is acceptable, please keep conversations about sensitive topics (abuse, sexual assault, etc.) within spoilered text and include an appropriate warning so other users can choose whether to engage.
Please note that some discussions of sensitive topics and personal experiences may be removed if they encourage irresponsible, non-constructive, or disrespectful conversation or are triggering to any person.

So that we can moderate effectively and keep everyone safe, please discuss in English.
Do not share provocative, offensive, or explicit material of any kind.
While we are aware that sometimes users might want to have these discussions on reference to the games, please try to keep conversations about heavier topics (abuse, sexual assault, etc) within spoilered text with an appropriate warning, so other users can choose if they want to engage.
Do not solicit or post anyone's personal information.
Do not promote or advertise any services.
Do not post content that encourages or references illegal activities, including piracy.
Do not post content that transmits any message, information, data, text, software or graphic files, or other materials ("Content") that is unlawful (including illegal drug usage), harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libellous, hateful or racially, ethnically, sexually or otherwise objectionable.
Do not post content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights ("Rights") of any party.
Do not post or transmit any content that intentionally or unintentionally violates any applicable local, state, national or international law, rule or regulation.

Irresponsible Promotion of Intolerant Game Mods & Game Piracy

Do not share, discuss or promote mods that aim to fundamentally change game content in a discriminatory or intolerant manner.
Do not discuss or promote the piracy of any game or other copyrighted software.
Do not distribute or engage in inappropriate file sharing. This extends to suspicious or unsafe links.

Ban Evading

Creating a new account to avoid a ban will result in the new account being permanently banned.

Formatting and Quality of Messages

Do not use Larian Studios Message Boards' features in a manner that adversely affects the availability of its resources to other users (e.g., excessive shouting [use of all caps] or flooding (continuous posting of repetitive text or topics).
Try to stay on topic in the current thread and subforum you are posting in. E.g. No promotion of non-BG3 videos inside the Baldur's Gate 3 subforums.

Bumping

Posting short or off-topic messages in old threads to keep them near the top of the forum causes clutter and can make more active threads more difficult to find. Please, keep any additions to threads on-topic and relevant.

VPNs

We ask that you don't use a VPN when registering in the Larian Forums, as these registrations tend to be flagged in the process as suspicious, due their use by spammers.

Forum Rules Update
Due to several recent threads that have escalated into rule-breaking and displayed the inability to follow our moderation team's requests, additional levels of moderation have been introduced.
For the time being, the Moderator Team have been asked to close any new discussions or debates involving Astarion's character ending (Ascension vs. Non-Ascension). This measure will be re-evaluated at a later date. Discussing the character and the general narratives surrounding him is acceptable as long as the discussion remains civil and respectful of all forum members.
Archiving Locked Posts
To support a safer environment, we will now be archiving inappropriate threads that previously would have been locked but were still accessible.

Larian Studios retains the right to exclusively determine what violates any of the above rules. Also, Larian Studios retains the right to exclusively decide who may access the forums.
Breaking any of the above Rules of Conduct will make your message board account subject to immediate banning, or your message deleted, edited or moved.
NOTICE: By submitting (e.g., uploading) Content to the Larian Studios Message Board, you automatically grant Larian Studios the royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive and fully sub licensable right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform and display such Content (in whole or part) worldwide and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form, media, or technology now known or later developed.
