Apart from Divine Divinity 2, what game are you going to buy next?
For me personally, I'd just about sell my soul for Diablo 3. I'm in love with both Divine Divinity and Diablo equally and I can't choose between them. If they were both released at the same time I'd probably blow my budget outta the water, because I'd just HAVE to have them both. But Gawd only knows if we'll ever get them, so until then, I'm waiting for Lionheart myself. I've been reading the previews and it sounds really good. But then, so did the previews for NeverWinter Nights and Dungeon Seige and these are two games that bitterly dissapointed me. Maybe I'll wait a bit when the game comes out and see what all you people here think of it. I figure if YOU like it, then I will too.

Cheers <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
Well, I'm waiting for summoner 2 to come out for PC, it's out for PS2 (don't have one) and gamecube (don't have one).
I adored summoner and I haven't found anything as good until I got <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> I can't choose between them, if summoner 2 doesn't come out for PC soon I'm probably just going to blow the whole thing and buy a PS2 or gamecube. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

What's lionheart, I've heard it's good but I don't know what it is?

BTW it's also twice as long.

Sacred is from Ascaron, German publisher AFAIK.
Kiya
Is compared to Diablo, controls are like diablo 2, six heroes: Galdiator, Wood-Elf (ranger), Mage, Seraphim (fight and magic), Darkelf (survivor and magic), female vampire (fighter at day, bat at night).
A super-demon was summoned by a mage who lost control over him - you have to "escort" him back whence he came from. This is the main quest and about 200 sub-quests.
Kiya

Guess, Aris can tell you more, he's a beta-tester (?)
Posted By: ArisEiswind Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 30/03/03 05:32 AM
Yes, both game's are German Productions, with an Focus to the International Market.
Sorry Kiya, i'm not a beta tester from Sacred, i'm only a great fan of this game.
Sacred has the fast paced action like Diablo combined with an deep Storyline and you see some new elements in the game, never seen before in any other rpg.
you can ride a horse and fight from it against creatures <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> or escape or travell over the land.
the smith can upgrade your weapon from a simple blade to a powerfull sword. if you not like the fire runes in it anymore he can remove those runes and replace it with new items.
i Can give you some good links for more info's about Sacred and Spellforce:
Sacred related links:

Spellforce related links:

check out the trailer in the moviesection <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Spellforce is an RTS / RPG game.

Both games are also produced in english, so i'm sure they'll find a way to a store near you <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Sacred has also a great multiplayer part, up to 16 player can play the game in coop-mode over the internet or if you like it , you'll find some special arenas for pvp-duels.

you can create highlvlchars ( lvl 104 is possible).

the game has 16 different large rich detailed regions to explore.

70% from the gamesworld are free to explore at the start of the game. the other 30% unlocked by the storyline, subquest...

If you are not sure that they will release it in the Netherlands then try
play.com is a Great Brittain based company that specializes in mail order for cds & dvds.
Usually fairly competetive compared to dutch shop prices too.

And the current release date seems to be 2 weeks before christmas. They are aiming for october but my experience is that they will overrun that time and then the beancounters (A.K.A accountants) will hop in demanding it will be shipped before the christmas holidays.

Kathy, thanks for the info about Summoner. I've never played the game before, but because you like it so much, I'll give it a try. As it's been out for a while I should be able to get a copy of it fairly cheaply ( I hope!). Thanks again everybody, this has given me some good ideas for my next game purchase.

Lionheart, Tomb Raider: Angel Of Darkness, and Warcraft 3: Throne Of Winter are my three most anticipated games right now.

I've got to get around to buying Command & Conquer: Generals at some point too...

Nearly forgot: Sea Dogs 2 should be out soon, so there's another one...

@KASHA: NWN is a great game just has little playability as it comes, the main concept was make your own game builder, and for that purpose it is bar far the best and super userfriendly. Ever try making dungeons with morrowind or any other game making rpgs? NWN wasn't really meant to be played as it comes but they threw in a story for etiquite(sp?). The story that comes with it I agree with you is poorly done, but not aweful. The mod making aspect is great though. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

My next game ? Well, I don't know. Today I bought Grim Fandango for 5 Euro, and that's my game for the next weeks (I'm currently playing Homeworld very much).

The game I'm really looking for and could be my next one is Heroes of Might & Magic III in the "Sold out" series, which strangely doesn't seem to be available here in germany - I've looked for it in several shops, but cannot find it.
I've just got that, it's really good, but here Hero's of might and magic IV has come out. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

Heroes of Might & Magic IV is quite a good game, but not that great, IMO. The 'Heroes Chronicles' series that use the HMM3 engine are more enjoyable to play.

Summoner is a wonderful game! I absolutely loved it. But if you really wanna play Summoner 2 you'll have to get yourself a PS2 or Gamecube because right now there are no plans to put it on the PC anytime soon. Its really a shame too because I've played it and gotta say it would work really well as a PC game.

If I'm not wrong, I remember an announcement saying that the next BIS game will not be an RPG, and is a remake of some older game. Might be or not the "jefferson" engine game. I hope it's TORN (if it's an RPG) or Realms of the Haunting (if not).

Oh yeah, I hope it's Dragonlance too. They're doing Greyhawk now, it wouldn't be long before someone comes up with the Dragonlance idea. Raistlin rules!

Posted By: Tam70 Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 04/04/03 11:28 AM
Well, I already have purchased Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura - dirt cheap, boxed with all the manuals and maps and stuff, and also a rather sweet double pack in a jewel case - Outcast and Silver. I got all three games for five pounds ninety eight, which if you know British prices for games is pretty close to theft on my part. Of course, I will have to wait to play them until I finish <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> - I already would have if I hadn't ran into the "don't use summon creatures to kill the final boss" bug - which wasn't nice. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

I would, however, without doubt, buy any expansion pack Larian came up with for Div Div, and also any sequel - which is way ahead of what I am prepared to do for Bioware - Neverwinter Nights just annoyed me way too much to chuck any more money at those wankers. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" />

PS, I think Death Scorpions are cool - never leave home without at least two dozen! <g>

Well, see ya!

@Tam70 I also bought Arcanum. Looks pretty good, very complex skill system, but of course the graphics is not as nice as DD.
Posted By: Azraell Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 04/04/03 03:16 PM
Arcanum is a pretty cool goame. And incase you didn't know, Arcanum was made by the guy who created Fallout (BEST RPG ever made.... besides <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> of course) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
Posted By: Engineer Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 04/04/03 03:18 PM
The reason it was made by the Fallout people actually made me buy that game
Posted By: Wolfgard Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 04/04/03 03:38 PM
I bought it because of the steam-punk setting. Thought it was rather cool <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> And it was one of the best and most flexible CRPG to role play, IMHO. I finished the game with a highly intelligent bookworm orc who is horribly ugly and unattractive...lol
Would have been a great game if it had less Fed-Ex quests.
You got a great deal, Silver is a brill game and I got it for 30.00 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" />

I went all the way through the game, long lasting and very fun but the boss at the end is to strong and overpowered, you can't actually HIT him and I don't know how to beat him, I don't want to say any more because I might spoil it for you, but if you ever find a way to beat him, look me up!!!

Hrm, Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, Gothic 2, Neverwinter Nights Expansion, Morrowind Expansion: Bloodmoon. Only buying expansions and Gothic sequel because I know they are good, I have them already, and I've already bought WAY to many games (plus going to college next year)
I mean I've bought:
Freedom Force, Medal of Honor, Allied Assault, Gothic, Divine Divinity, Wizardry 8, Planescape: Torment, Arx Fatalis, Jagged Alliance 2, and No One Lives Forever 2, Master of Orion 3, Xenosaga, Galactic Civilizations... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />, way to many

Heh, games....I seem to have it all backwards when I look at games, I usually get older ones over newer ones. Just got Fallout 1 & 2.

As for interesting prospects:
Sacred, Spellforce, and (maybe) Warrior Kings: Battles ....perhaps more are added, and some are taken away.

I checked out Sacred, it looks decent, but I'm kind of curious why some developers don't let people just choose the gender of their characters, I always like to have a 'feel' for my player/avatar (read, I probably will play with the Wood Elf, Seraphim and Vampiress character eventually, but I'm kind of puzzled why male versions of those classes were left out, same thing with female versions of the Assassin, Magician, and Gladiator - I could be mistaken though?).

Spellforce looks sweet, and for some reason Lords of Magic popped into my head when I looked at it, which is odd in itself since I've never played LoM. But I like RTS titles and RPG's, so ....
There is also another game made by JoWooD that looked interesting to me, but the name escapes me at the moment.

Warrior Kings is a good little game that is enjoyable, if alittle 'unsupported' at the moment. So it's only natural of me to look upon Warrior Kings: Battles with renewed hope of a better world. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I'm still curious about Project Nomads, it just reminds me of my younger days when I used to play Netstorm, so I might pick it up sometime.

And of course there is Seraphim, which as far as I know is NEVER going to be released. It's page is here -> http://www.valkyriestudios.com/AngelHome.htm
It looks like Sacrifice, but with wings. It also reminds me of a game that I saw a preview of on Heat.net called Skies.

Gaming is an expensive addiction. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />
Especially when it comes to keeping up with the console and pc game market. Thankfully, I'm more picky about what console games I have. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

i think they are great <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Fallout 2 was great... played it when it came out. I recently bought a dual pack with fallout 1&2 but was having a hard time dealing with fallout 2's somewhat outdated graphics (the problem with going back to old games... same thing happened when i went to play chronotrigger) so i never even installed 1... no idea if its comparable with the second

Anyone else find Fallout tactics a bit of a letdown?

Looking forward to that gladiator game... sacred looks pretty neat also... oh yeah and Fable for Xbox

i'm currently playing chronotrigger <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Also with Arcanum has anyone played it etc etc etc

Just curious as to your thoughts.

I still have to finish Planescape seeing i got a fair way through it and developed a bug that stuffed my game so i have to start it again which has stopped me playing it for awhile lol.....i have to do it sooner or later i guess hehe

So far the impression Fallout has on me is great. Nice and easy to get into.

I have Chrono Trigger, haven't played too far into it, but it's been enjoyable so far. My self-cursed rule of doing things in an organized order was skewed by this series because I played Chrono Cross before I even touched Chrono Trigger <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />.

Arcanum is a nice game to get lost in, things move at a 'realistic' pace (the first time I read the in-game newspaper I was hooked on it, I even waited sometimes JUST for the newspaper to come out <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> ), my favourite setup is using a halfing thief and robbing everything in sight. I use Tolo Underhill's NPC level-up scheme since it upgrades all the skills I use, so I get a halfing/thief/assassin that can kill most things with ONE backstab.. Mwahaha <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" />

I've never had the pleasure of playing Icewind Dale, it interest me though, since I enjoyed all of the Baldur's Gate series.
Posted By: vagrantpanda Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 08/04/03 12:08 AM
Icewind Dale is ALOT of hack and slash though. Don't expect Planescape type dialogue/story or even close to Baldur's Gate. Still quite fun, though I didn't like 2 for some reason.

warrior kings was hard
Posted By: Wolfgard Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 08/04/03 08:39 AM
Fallout 1/2 and Icewind Dale 1/2 are great games. In fact, I enjoyed both as much as DD. Yes, IWD is hack and slash, but that's what it was meant to be from the start, so I didn't expect anything other than that (although I heard some people complaining it wasn't the next Baldur's Gate). I just recently installed Fallout 1 again on my WinXP with GF4 and it works fine. No problems with that, but again, I didn't finished it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Didn't finish Fallout 2 too.

I finished the game by using only 2 spells. The demon spawn spell (can't remember the name) and fireball/fireflash/whatevername... With high cons and wisdom, the demon made the game too easy. Killed the final boss with only 3 demons while i sat back and watched the show.

Chronotrigger is one of the best rpgs i have every played. great story line. i would reccommend that anybody who has never played it download snes emulator and the rom. DD is wonderful too. that sacred game looks nice. i think that is one of the next games on my buy list.

yah i had to register this name again. dunno why. if you do tell me.

I'm gonna buy the Bloodmoon expansion for Morrowind.
I intended to buy Master Of Orion 3, but I read so many negative
reviews that I changed my mind.
Maybe I'll go for 'Galactic Civilizations' instead, and I'll definetly
buy Divine Divinity 2 if there is one.

unless you want to buy it from me for 20$ I was severely disappointed.

What kind of game is Silver? Seems to have made a good impression on those who have played it. Anyone here play Suidoken III? I didnt like this game much at first but it grew on me... many things to do and 70 or so characters to develop and add to your party... I have heard Suidoken 1 and 2 were better but I never played either so I dont know what I'm missing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I've been having a hard time maintaining interest in alot of newer games lately... xenosaga and .hack both seemed disappointing to me and i cant bring myself to dump any more money on halfway decent games <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> anyone else starving for a really quality rpg? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

I LOVED Suidoken III! I also didn't like it at first, then it just grew on me and I would play it all day! heh

Fallout 1 and 2 I think are a MUST for serious RPG'ers. Along with Planescape:Torment.

Baldurs gate 2 and the expansion were also pretty cool.

IWD II was definatly Hack and Slash, but a hell of alot better then Diablo 2 (In my opinion) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Heh, oddly enough I NEVER chose to be a mage character in Arcanum. I never felt like I was missing much on the magic side. I always either chose to be melee/thief or gun-user/techie, those just seemed the most fun paths for me. Besides, the idea of building equipment, getting schematics, and ingredients, was just alot more interesting (and with thief skills, quite easy to do too), than getting such a sparse list of spells and too many schools of magic to bother with. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Although I will say Arcanum can be a little easy at times. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

It's been awhile since I played it, I still have it installed, maybe I'll start a new game sometime and try the mage's path this time around. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

What is summoner??
Posted By: Crosof Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 09/04/03 06:31 PM
ok that sacred game is officially on my list of games to buy. the screenshots though, why are some seem like low resolution with large characters and some seem to be huge resolution with smaller characters? just curious why that is.

almost forgot. DD2 is definitly there with diablo3(for the multiplayer)
Summoner is a brill game and probably my fav along with DD. It deosn't cost much (10.00) and is definatly worth the money, if u want 2 no more about it ask me.

Have u tried multiplayer? try it and tell me you're name and we could meet and play a game or something, my name for multiplayer is Kathryn.
Posted By: jvb Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 09/04/03 07:06 PM
about sacred:
dont you guys think the caracters have only a few moves?
i mean; in diablo 2 every class had about 32, and here only about 10...

And will sacred have bnet style multiplayer? (i believe i read that somewhere..)

It does look like a very cool game though <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
Posted By: ArisEiswind Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 10/04/03 04:27 AM
not forget, your char can learn many special moves, not listed on the site. imho,i think it's enough.

you can expect a bnet look alike mp-style (but the last word's about this are not spoken yet).
but you can play with up to 16 friends in a game <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Posted By: Achim_S Arcanum - 10/04/03 10:31 AM
I played it about 4 or 5 times.

I played it as a gunfighter dwarv, as world's mightiest time wizard, as someone jabbering anybody to death, ... and eachtime it was a rather different gameplay. Nearly each quest can be solved in different ways. Any more questions ... ? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Oh man! I'd just about sell my soul for Diablo 3 too. My room mate and I played D2 on our home lan for aproximately 500 hours. Back and forth, this character, that character. Absolutely loved it which is strange because when he first brought me a copy for xmas, I hated it. The first time I loaded it up, I couldnt figure out what it was exactly that I was supposed to be doing (didnt have as much patience as I have now with computer games), then once I got out into the killing fields, I was hooked. We would play long into the night sometimes till 3am, even though we both had to be up at 5am to go to work.

As far as what Im going to buy next? Well, I guess I'll have to wait and hope they do put out a D3 (as long as it's not 3D, Im rather partial to the 2d isometric look), I've got NWN and Dungeon Siege (I finished DS, and I dont want to give any spoilers, but I was highly disappointed in the finish of it. I didnt think I was anywhere near finishing, then it was done). NWN, well, Overall I like it, but im not one really for questing in puzzle fashion. I much prefer the quests of D2 where it's pretty linear.

Right now, Im playing Tropico 2, 1503 AD, and I just reinstalled <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> since there is a patch, and I never made it all the way through. First game I gave up at the castle, 2nd game I gave up when I couldnt complete a couple quests. 3rd game I gave up because there were too many unsolved quests in my log.

Im going to try it again and try to limit the amount of quests I get at anyone time. I much prefer solving one thing at a time. Georges Murder comes to mind, hated having that stick around after I left the first town.

Dont get me wrong though, I love <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> though I have to wonder what exactly I love about it. Probably that I feel something for my character (hard to do in a game for me) and the 2d isometric 3/4 view.

My next game will be the PC version of Vice City. Full of sociopathic goodness <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Sacred sounds interesting. Outcast 2 and Gothic 2 are also in the pipeline and look great.

Outcast has to be one of the most under appreciated games ever <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Might also buy Deus Ex 2 when it appears, and will probably buy the NWN expansion. (though I don't really like their take on D&D - it's so far from how I play pnp D&D!)

I believe i'll have to buy a decent graphics card though, if I want to play any of the 3D games I mentioned <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> no more geForce MX <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Well, I usually play with some pauses here and there, so to say. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

The last pause was with Death 1 , a level which I didn't like from the beginning.

I have begun other games meanwhile (Homeworld), but keep on watching the AoW2 Forums at Heavengames constantly. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Besides, there has been a "Age of Wonders : Shadow Magic" announced ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Someday in the future I will continue the AoW campagn.

Posted By: Womble Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 28/04/03 07:01 PM
Actually you should play it through. Death 1 is THE hardest campaign scenario IMHO. Death magic in general sucks though. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />
Posted By: AlrikFassbauer Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 28/04/03 07:06 PM
Well, for me it's far more difficult: I don't like thios setting at all, because it doesn't fit with what I try to live in real life !

You can call me weird, but I have a strong feeling for everything that lives, but Death is just so different ...

Well, although it's something I don't like, it's something that simply belongs to life - death. That's why I'll play this "chapter" in the future.
Posted By: Womble Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 28/04/03 08:10 PM
Ah, so you'll play it when you 'feel like death' so to speak.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
Posted By: AlrikFassbauer Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 28/04/03 08:20 PM
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I'll play it when I have the feeling "I must do it to conclude the life-circle". Meaning AoW itself. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Posted By: Kashya Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 29/04/03 03:00 PM
Greetings all,
I did a really silly thing today. That I thought I'd share with you.
I bought Morrowind: Elder Scrolls III. I know, I know, NEVER buy a game without downloading the demo first. But Morrowind doesn't have a demo! Now I know why!
The game controls are DREADFUL! They are the worst I've ever encounted in a game. You have to move your character with the keyboard for God's sake, no mouse control! This may have been bearable (as in Gothic) but for what little mouse control there actually was. The mouse is used to sweep the camera around, up, down, here, there and everywhere. I've never been motion sick in my life, but this game had me dizzy and sick after a few minutes.
If it is one thing I passionately HATE more than anything else in 'computer' games, it's having to control your character with the keyboard. A computer is not a bloody playstation! Give me mouse control like <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> and Diablo.
But that's not the worst of it. Crash, crash, crash! If you thought Divinity was buggy, you ain't seen nothin yet. After the fifth crash within only 10 minutes of gameplay, I packed it back up in its box and returned it to the store for a refund.
Never again, will I buy a game without a demo.
Sorry for the rant, but this game really infuriated me. It has so much promise and potential, it's heartbreaking to see it ruined by shockingly bad game controls and instability.
So just be warned if your thinking about buying this game, it has some very serious flaws. Ok, now that's off my chest, I'm done now.

Cheers <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Um, Morrowind uses standard wasd/Mouse controls.... mouse doesn't control the camera. It's a great game, especially with mods.
Posted By: rexfelis Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 30/04/03 06:08 AM
On morrowwind, I thought there were far too many herbs to be used with an alchemy system that was not fun at all. I like <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> alchemy much better!
Worse sill for me was the lack of feedback the game provides. In older Bethesda games (that I liked) you would see your swing hits for 21 damage, etc. Also you have no idea how wounded a monster is as it has no health bar. You swing swing swing, assuming you are hurting it bad, but you have no idea when its going to die. BLEH!
Posted By: joliekiller Re: What game are you gonna buy next? - 30/04/03 08:54 AM
Install the latest patch and you WILL see a yellow bar witch represent the health bar of your enemy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

There is a patch for Morrowind that will enable health bar for mobs.

Kashya
I dissagree.
Controls are standard as for any other first or third person shooter, if you don't like defaults you can freely customize them.
I've got this game in the package with my Hercules ATI Radeon 9700 pro. I like the game, graphics are awesome (just look at that water). I didn't play through it till the end because I became bored, but this is another story for another post.
The game shows it's wonders on ATI Radeon series cards I think 8500 and higher.
It can crash often if you have geforce or old drivers.

And what game I'd like to play beside DD2 (ha, yesterday I sweared to Sten that I'l play all addons, sequels of DD <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> and I will, because I love it)

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/idea.gif" alt="" />
I am eager to see the game with as strong story line as Planescape Torment. I have had tears in my eyes many times while travelling in the world of tormented souls, filled with drama and tragedy. That was a masterpiece, with the strongest impressions on me the game have ever made.

I think that the game is like a book. Storyline that contains intrigue, conflict, drama and how it is implemented + playability - this is what makes a great game in my opinion. You live through it as you play, you become a main character have moments of joy and suffer in a world that becomes almost real, until you hit escape and return to RL. And this is very difficult to achieve.

So, this is what I will be looking in the future.

I hope I will not be executed for such a long post <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shhh.gif" alt="" />

Egin,
That may have been what my problem was. I'm using a GeForce card. But this is the first time I've ever encountered a game that crashed several times after only a few minutes of gameplay. But I do agree with you about the graphics of Morrowind, absolutely breathtaking! As I said before, this game has so much promise and potential.
But I REALLY, REALLY hated the game controls. That alone is enough to turn me off this game and any other that is keyboard controlled (it's the reason I won't buy Gothic 2, no matter how impressive it looks, but that's another story).
So even if I had a computer that could handle Morrowind, I would never play it. Simply because I hate keyboard controlled games SO much.
Morrowind is marketed as a Role playing game, which I think is somewhat misleading, as the game controls are more like a first person shooter, a game genre I don't like.
I was thinking a RPG meant a game like Divine Divinity, Baldur's gate, Dungeon Seige, Diablo etc. All of which are controlled by the mouse. I was horrified and angry when I found out the game was keyboard controlled. Nothing on its website warned about this.
But if a games controls really don't bother you, and you have the system to handle Morrowind, then by all means give it a try. But if your expecting something like Divine Divinity or Baldur's gate, but with better graphics and more open gameplay (as I was) I think your in for a disappointment.
I apologise to anyone who loves Morrowind, and finds my comments offensive. That was not my intention. I just wanted to warn other RPG fans that Morrowind may not be quite what they expect from a Role playing game.

Cheers <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Kashya. Hmm. Good point.

You can play Morrowind with your keyboard and mouse, as any other FPS or TPS.

Ley's try and sort things out.
Views, detemine how you can see your character:
There are first person games - you see what main character sees (Doom, Half-life etc).
There are third person games - you see the back of your character (Heretic II, Tomb Rider etc)
Perspective view - you are upstairs and a bit back from your character (Diablo, Arcanum, BG, etc)

Then there are different genres like puzzle, action, adventure simulation, RPG.

Here we come to the point of determining what is the difference between theese genres.

What is a Role Playing Game? Role-Playing: Games whose primary objective is to role-play characters. Personally, I like to define a Role Playing Game as a game that MUST, ABSOLUTELY have three elements. One is a statistical setup for characters that describe certain skills/aspects of that character. Two, it must have some method of increasing and strengthening those statistics (usually but not necessarily by way of the experience/level system). Three, it must have a menu-driven combat system that utilizes the skills/aspects of the characters. Given there are other elements of RPGs that I'll leave out because of their obvious nature, these are the elements that are required for a game to be labeled RPG. -Written by Archmage

So, role playing a chacter is what makes a game RPG. And now here goes the question. A perspective view, - is it a must have feature for RPG?
Don't think so. Lets take an example: Deus Ex. It is RPG as it has all RPG's elements, though it is first person shooter.
Same goes with Morrowind.

I hope this helps.

Sorry, if I made this post too long.

Have you ever played Gothic ? It's a great RPG game, but also without mouse.

And the funny thing is: You get accustomed to it ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />

What is the Gothic storyline?

Do you mean what's Gothic about ?

Well, I'd say, go to http://gothic.rpgdot.com , and find out ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

(In short, it's about a Prisoner in a Valley who strives for survival ... and as you can guess, there something bigger behind it all ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> )

Like you, I was looking for a game to play to fill in until DD 2 or Diablo 3 comes out. A friend at work suggested Dungeon Seige. I tried the demo and then bought the game. It has really filled the void. Lots of fun.

Yeh, i played dungeon siege earlier in the year, i got through it fairly comfortably and finished the game in about 3 weeks, but it was lots of fun , i liked the pack mules that tagged along ,you could get lots of goodies on them and also the way the 3D world worked very well. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

I already have "Splinter Cell" and "RS:Raven Shield" waiting for their turn. I don't know which game will follow these ones. Probably WCIII:Frozen Throne... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />
