Just a small suggestion - the ability to map your character's path (ie from point A to point B), either on the mini-map or world map, with way points (limited number of course). It's a feature/option used in Arcanum as a convenience more than anything - simply saves having to keep holding the mouse button down & scrolling across screens.

Also having an auto-combat option would be handy - at least in regards to melee where your character would automatically continue attacking surrounding creatures, rather than wait for your command after a kill.

Obviously neither of these are huge impact items, but they would be a nice
convenience. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

yes they would... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> ..especially the mini-map clickable interface to move....
would be awesome..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />
nice ideas!

Hi FrogKing! Yay for another Aussie!

We definately want another way to move. Even if it's just clicking on the mini-map. In the mean time, you can press CAPS-LOCK and move the mouse to the edge of the screen to scroll. You can cover large distances fairly easily with this. You can also use this to throw your Teleporter Stones a long distance (they can take about 20 seconds to land though). Just remember to press CAPS-LOCK again to centre the camera on you.

I seem to remember another thread about auto-combat. The best idea we came up with was to have a three-way toggle for combat: Passive, Combat, and Auto-Combat. This was because it makes it very hard to control a Wizard with low health that either happily runs up to monsters or sits there draining mana into firballs.

Thanks for the movement tip, HandEFood. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

That'd be a good way to implement it (the 3 way toggle that is) - I agree about the wizards, they always show a definite lack of common sense regarding self-preservation <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> .

ps: does this make the count of Aussie's = 2 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

mandrake HEF and yourself!

auto combat sounds <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> kinda like holding the ctrl. button,
only better! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I think I've seen another about. I can't remember who though. It may have been on another board. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

We'll swap you some heat if you like. There's too much ice down here, even in Spring!
Posted By: Frogking Re: Map navigation - 12/09/03 01:24 PM
I'd take you up on that swap - it's alot easier to warm up than cool down (unless of course you have an air-conditioner or swimming pool - of which I own neither <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sad.gif" alt="" /> )

On the maps, one thing that could be useful is if the red and blue flags appeard on the mini-map as well. I often mark things that I'm unable to deal with at the time (locked chests, tough enemies) and come back to them later. It would make them easier to find. It would also help with quests so you could see when you are getting close.
