Hi,

I seem to have upset half the wildlife in BD. I haven't deliberately attacked any of these woodland creatures, but now they are all attacking me. I suspect that I have innocently and accidentally clicked on one of them meaning just to move to that place but my character has whacked the little blighter when he arrived, turning all his friends against me.

As this has been a gradual accumulation: first frogs, then snails, now boar, I can't face just loading an earlier save game because I would have to go back miles to get back to a point where I was on good terms with everything again. Playing the game has become a bit like the episode of the Simpsons where they are stuck in the forest and Homer tries to catch something to eat and ends up being chased by rabbits and raccoons. Everywhere I go the little blighters chase after me!

Is there any way of regaining their affections or do I just have to slaughter the whole species? I wondered if there was perhaps an ini file or similar which I could hack to change their status from rabid back to docile.

Paul

P.S. Yes I know it serves me right for being hamfisted in the first place!

Other than "cheats" I know of no way of restoring the animals' neutrality. I find that annoying also - to be safe one needs to return to peace mode after each and every fight in order to move - I liked it better in the first dungeon where you were ASKED if you wanted to attack neutral animals <grumble>.
No idea if you can hack your status with our furry friends back to peaceful. I can't tell you how many times I have accidentally clicked on a frog or rat or whatever and had to reload rather than be bothered fighting them the rest of the game. Bleeeaaaahhhh! A real bother...the first time I clicked on a rat accidentally I got a warning that they are not hostile but that attacking them would *make* them hostile--too bad that pop-up warning only works the first time you make that mistake.....and isn't it strange how you can aggro not just the rats (or frogs or whatever) in the immediate area, but ALL the members of that species! This is not a major problem, but it certainly IS annoying...
OMG..i was wondering when somebody would write about this! It's terrible! It first became a major problem when in on Imp Island. I would be nonchalantly just walking around then suddenly i get attacked by a earth elemental which is cool but then all of a sudden all the frogs, lava eaters, flooges(really hate these!), and anything else you can think of decide to call their cousins for a killing! The only thing you can do about it is just press "C" after every battle to go between peace and hostile modes. What just really sucks is you don't even get XP for killing them their just freaking annoying ALL the time. The good thing is though, i've noticed, when you switch acts the ones you may have upset in a previous act seem to just forget they hate you.

Me too! I am having this same problem but I knew it would happen if I accidentally clicked on an animal while in combat mode. I killed one tiny cat in Rivellon and now I'm being attacked by them. What do they have? A beeper that alerts the rest of their kind? And those frogs! Aack!!! LOL

It never occurred to me to reload the game. I probably should have done that but knowing me, I'd probably inadvertantly click on one of them again and be back in the same mess I started. *sigh*

Count me in too. This does become a real pain after awhile.

Puck
They are so irritating that I just kill all of the little buggers.

Sometimes you do. If their lvl is high enough. I remember fighting all the tibars (annoying little hoppers they are...) throughout act 2 and getting quite some experience from that...
thanks that was comical. Homer Simpson indeed. i had to slaughter any i came across, unfortunately because they would get in the way during combat, which was hazardous to one's health.
oh well, just beef up your area of effect skills. that'll solve the problem. for example: Hammer. gotta love it

I suspect that most of us have upset the wildlife at some point in the game. While in the wild, I usually stay in peace mode until I can attack any enemies without attacking any snails, frogs, tibars, etc... You ever notice how the wildlife likes to gather around any loot that the monsters drop? If I don't switch to peace mode before collecting the loot, I end up clicking on one of these little buggers that's hopping around, and starting a war with the wildlife. As Homer might say, "D'oh!"

Sniff, this does not go for the Battle Fields - I was attacked by vicious Uebersnail, my level. And the name was.. Uebersnail, correct.

On that screenshot, the snail appears as a hostile. Was the snail neutral until it saw your pc and then attacked you or what are you saying happened exactly?*confused* Sorry, but its late here, and my mind is cloudy.

BTW: Heya Kiya

my former post was referring to this sentence of yours.

I had no trouble in-game with snails (were/remained friendly). But this Uebersnail was in the after-game Battlefields and attacked me, was as hostile as all other living creatures there.
wow coooooool axe kiya!

BTW does the repel skil help to get rid of the buggers?

It's the Demon Cutter's Axe from the phil level in Act 4. Sharpened up to 163-262 damage. I found out, bow/arrow was not as useful in the after-game BF as in-game. So, I sold my bow skills and went into 2-hand slashing business. It's a good one, but my char has lost her dainty appearance IMO. I liked her more as a slim archer - still looking for a complete set of orange (very good) set of shadow items, as I like the black+glimmer
Ok, I guess not a professional killer approach towards the game, but... a female needs something for the eyes, right?
Kiya

Sorry, "repel skill"? I don't understand.
isn't theren't there bait and repel skils? I thought i saw some where a bait skil to attract ennymies and a repel skil so the lower ones woudn't attack? I looked it up and is named discourage skil.

I found a 165-280 shadow sword that i'm training to use(one level and i'm able to use itstupid ) (it's only sharpend with lev 8 i hope that the sharpen skill goes higher )

xd

Yes, sharpen goes up to lvl 20 in the after game BF.
No, sorry, I have no XP with "discourage" skill - as for "bait" => it calls enemies up to you.
I think the skill you meant could be "pacify", no XP with this either - as it is time limited.
Now I have a Giant Axe of Serenditipy - sharpened with 10 to 268/452 (at lvl 17 to 321-516 - at lvl 20 355-544, agility 88) - anyone in for a haircut?
Kiya
460? and I tought my little shadow sword was a find.
want to trade for a bit of holy water?

and it was the discourage spell i meant.
xd
Where did you get that ax? My DK has an ax of around 119 and the sword is less than 100.

Maybe I should sharpen his sharpen skill.

What skills do you give your DK for fighting? I have deathblow and and the one just above it at aound 4 now. Damage at 8. Accuracy at about 4 too. I can't get damage any higher until I find someone to sell me that level in the skill. I'm in Act 3. Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention to these skills.

Thanks.

Demon's Cutter axe is in Act 4 - and the one I'm having now, is from the after game BF.

BF trader in Act 3 has sharpen up to lvl 9. I can't tell you much about my DK, I don't have him anymore. I didn't boost him up much, concentrated on my char - and she was an archer. NOW, she is a melee fighter. Deathblow/critical hit are on 8

What? An evil Uebersnail, the same level as you? I guess the snails are moving up on the food chain, eh? Personally, I haven't run into any hostile snails in the after game battlefields, because I haven't finished the game yet. So my statement was based on my experience with the main game rather than the after battlefields that I haven't played yet. I imagine there's even more differences between the after battlefields and the main game itself.
