Larian Studios
Hi everybody, I'm the lead Game Designer of Larian Studios and I was wondering with what build you finished Div 2.

I need this in a specific format so I can see how people did during the last couple of hours of the game. To be exact I need to know the following in this order:

Difficulty
Level
Stats
Skills
Armor
Weapons

Thank you very much!

That's great to know! Thanx for the info, so who's next!?

The hard drive I was playing Divinity 2 on broke, so I can't look up the exact stats, but here's what I remember.

EDIT: I found some screenshots from just before I went into the point of no return.

Difficulty: Normal

Level: 37 - This is pretty much the only thing which matters, because at level 37, only the enemies in the final boss room can hit you, you're otherwise completely invincible and the game becomes boring (please patch this so that lower-level enemies can hurt you more).

Stats
I maxed Strength and put the rest into Intelligence and Vitality, and I didn't put much at all into Vitality or Spirit.

Health = 430 (technically, because long before this point, enemies stopped doing damage, my health was infinite)
Mana = 604
Vitality = 10 (with bonuses)
Spirit = 13 (with bonuses)
Strength = 100
Dexterity = 17 (probably with bonuses)
Intelligence = 33 (with bonuses)

Weapon Damage = 486-648 + 189-189 (Magic damage)
Melee Resistance = 56.32%
Ranged Resistance = 42.27%
Magic Resistance = 61.29%

Conditioned Body = 75%
Heightened Reflexes = 23%
Indomitable Will = 41%
Skills
I did a Dual-Wielding warrior which focused on Life Leech and Bleed. I put some into Thousand Strikes once I got high enough mana reserves. I had a bunch of leftover skill points as well, which I put into Whirlwind and Rush attack, but only because I had no use for them. I wasn't

Dual-Wielding = 13
Life Leech = 13
Bleed = 13 (12 + 1 bonus)
Thousand Strikes = 5
Battle Rage = 5
Lockpick = 5
Whirlwind = 10
Rush Attack = 5
Evade = 2 (1 bonus)
Mana Leech = 2 (1 bonus)
Healing = 1
Mind Read = 1
Regenerate = (1 bonus)

Dragon Skills
Fire Breath = 5
Fire Sphere = 5
Dragon Spirit = 5
Dragon Shield = 5
Dragon Blast = 5
Summon Friend = 4

Equipment
I don't remember most of it, but I got the complete Ulthring's set. I had a bunch of store-bought jewelery which added health regeneration, I didn't use any Mahachite stones to enchant anything. I had a sword and a hammer as my weapons, probably store-bought from somewhere. My equipment didn't really matter at all though, as I could have stripped down to my skivvies and slowly punched everything except the final boss room to death without taking any damage whatsoever.

Helmet: Ulthring's Helmet
Chest: Ulthring's Cuirass
Legs: Ulthrings' Leggings
Hands: Ulthring's Gloves

Amulet: (Heroic) Archmage's Stone Pendant of Aleroth
+9 to magic Armor rating
+4 to Indomitable Will
+48 to Mana
Healing Aura - 0.275/second

Ring 1: (Magical) Enchanter's Delicate Pewter Ring of the Magic Gods
+8 to magic Armor rating (Base 4 + 4 from Charms)
+1 to Heightened Reflexes
Magic Damage Aura - 13% Chance for 48 damage

Ring 2: (Legendary Mage's Amethyst Ring of the Magic Gods
+33 Health
+48 Mana
+4 Magic Armor Rating
+4 Conditioned Body
Magic Damage Aura - 13% Chance for 48 damage

Weapon 1 (main hand): (Heroic) Ruthless Well-Crafted Light Noble Sword of the Vampire
Melee Damage: 41-69 (7% Crit chance)
+12 to Magic Damage
+29 to Melee Damage
Life Leech - 12% Chance of converting 19% Damage to health

Weapon 2 (off-hand): (Legendary) Ruthless Well-Crafted Heavy Noble Axe of Destruction
Melee Damage: 37-86
+50 to Melee Damage
+13 to Magic Damage
Magical Damage Increased by 27

Belt: (Legendary) Archmage's Brown Leather Belt of Aleroth
+ 62 Mana
+ 12 Magic Armor Rating
+ 3 Strength
0.025 Healing/second

Bracelet: (Legendary) Archmage's Delicate Jewelled Bracelet of Aleroth
+ 105 Mana
+ 7 Spirit
0.25 Healing/second

Earrings: (Magical) Warlocks's sapphire Droplet Earrings of Aleroth
+4 Vitality
+3 Spirit
0.225 Healing/second

All of the Healing/second items were found or bought, I didn't craft any. I had no need to, since I was no longer taking damage.

(You may notice that I've made a point of mentioning that I wasn't taking damage. This is because that's the thing - even more than the ending - which is keeping me from replaying. I don't want the hassle of strategically trying to avoid levelling up so the enemies will still pose a threat.)
Ok that's cool, very useful info guys
Lemme guess - this info will be used for the sequel, right? ;P
Does... does that mean we will be able to import saves/previous character?

P.S. Can't provide my stats because I deleted the game already, only saves left :<

Difficulty was medium, looking back I should have taken hard, although going up to level 10 was hard indeed hehe After that it was smooth sailing
After being level 28 I had only been killed by enemies once, at the final battle. In the 2nd try of the final battle I didn't have a hard time anymore, didn't drink a single potion. I took the strongest melee enemies out first.
I guess confusion, magic missle, magic blast and firewall are pretty good with decent protection at lvl 35 ^^
Did lots of mindreads.

Thumbs up for the people involved in creating this game, loved every second of it.

Cheers wink

Lots of skills are useless (almost all Priest and Ranger skills, some Warrior skills), and only a few of the useful ones are worth leveling at max lvl.

Difficulty in this game is really badly balanced. I've started in hard, but had to put normal after starting Broken Valley as enemies were doing way too much dmg.
When doing Orobas Fjords I was easily killed by rangers with explosive arrows, until I had more lvls than them. At the end of the game I was not taking any dmg, even in hard (except with bosses).

Also had to use a lot of potions for the last battle.
Dudes that's great info, and I understand your comments a lot of those thoughts are shared in the team as well.

Good point, I'm not sure if we have bows with charms. I'll have to check that :P
I'm very sure there are bows with charms. smile
For example the bow I used from Tiberius: it has 1 charmslot! And I found more than one bow that has a charmslot.

See following thread with my question and the answer from Larian_QA:
Can't Charm any kind of a Bow!

wink
Ok so another thing that's very important for me to know is the player stats without any gear on and skills without any skill boosts from equipment.

This data is really useful, I would just like to let you guys know that I really appreciate this!

Difficulty - Normal

Level - 36.8

Stats

There were several pieces of equipment I used from level 9-13 up to level 35, eventually keeping 'better' versions to switch to if I started running into trouble.

On level 36 after I sorted through loot found or purchased the last couple of levels, I ended up with lots of strength bonuses. Earlier in the game I would take dexterity or vitality bonuses just as readily, everything else being equal; it was chance that strength ended up predominant on my final equipment.

Below are my stats with and without equipment, at the end of the game (level 36). I've also added my stats in the Aleroth Ministry (level 35), one of the last things I did before turning in a bunch of quests, unlearning/relearning skills and sorting through equipment before heading to the hall of echoes. Stats without equipment would pretty much be the same as on level 36, so I did not include them (also, I didn't have enough room for another column on the piece of paper I wrote this down on biggrin ).
I put the summary in multiple code boxes so the text table would line up, without scrolling required, since apparently the forum no longer allows html tables (tried here and in a BD forum I had previously posted a table in).

I wasn't deliberately keeping Intelligence and Dexterity the same. I boosted Intelligence some to help with the magic armour rating and mana refill rate, then later used the Potion of Wisdom. Dexterity was always less that Strength, but before the end game I had several extra points due to equipment bonuses. I boosted Vitality to around 20 and was going to stop, but trying to take out the level 27 guards in the quarry building before getting the battle tower, I figured extra hit points would help, and put the spare 10 stat points I had into Vitality.

Skills

I unlearned my skills after getting the battle tower, and again before heading to the hall of echoes (the re-skill at level 36 gave me 76 free skill points). In the Aleroth Ministry (level 35) I had 13 unused skill points; at the end of the game I had 34.

Mana Efficiency - 5 (maxed after getting battle tower)
Mana Leech - 1
Healing - 1
Regenerate - 0 (2 before hall of echoes)
Life Leech - 1 (2 before hall of echoes)
Bleed - 10
Potion Efficiency - 0 (1 before battle tower, 5 after)
Evade - 1
Wisdom - 13 (before the hall of echoes it was 9 or 10, with 4 or 5 of that from equipment bonuses. since I was 3/4 of the way to level 37, the highest I had seen mentioned (without using respawns excessively), I maxed Wisdom to see if I could get to level 38 in the sure to be flying fortress sized area of the hall of echoes)

Dual Wielding - 13
Battle Rage - 0 (1 before getting the battle tower, but I only used it a few times)
Lockpick - 0 (5 before the hall of echoes; I maxed this as soon as possible)
Whirlwind - 1 (2 before battle tower)
Rush Attack - 1 (4 before battle tower)

Life Tap - 0 (1 before the hall of echoes; immediately before getting the battle tower I tried this, and thought it would come in handy, but after the battle tower and learning Mana Efficiency, I never used it)

Armor

For most of the game I only checked merchants when I needed to sell stuff (every 2 to 4 levels, or so), and only rarely purchased equipment to use (other than at the very beginning and end of the game). At level 31 when I went to Aleroth, I checked the 2 merchants just at the stairs leading to the Ministry. The equipment dealer gave me an upgrade sword and gauntlets IIRC at level 31 and 32, respectively, but after that a handful of reloads didn't produce anything better than what I had, so I stopped checking him. I tried to get a ring to replace an ok one I had been using for quite awhile, but the jewelry merchant kept offering me bracelets, necklaces and belts, so I don't think I got a ring until level 34 (wasn't going to keep reloading if I had a decent upgrade, even if it wasn't what I was after).

At the end of the game I had 8 blessed charms and 8 divine, but didn't use any (there wasn't really any need to).

I had 22 malachite gems before the hall of echoes, after giving 2 to the blind philosopher and using 4 for level 10 healing aura enchantments. I reloaded at malachite veins and got 2 gems from the first, 3 from the rest, except for the last one (the semi hidden one in the waterfall cave) where I got 4 (I would have stopped at 3, if I had gotten that first).
At level 12 or 13 I put 3 healing auras on equipment I thought I would be using awhile (2 listed below, plus a belt). Quite awhile later (10 levels, give or take) I found a better belt, and switched to it. I figured it had taken so long to get a better belt I'd probably be using that one for awhile, as well, so added a healing aura enchantment. A couple levels later I found a better belt, but waited awhile before switching, as I didn't want to 'waste' the enchantment without getting some use out of it.
I put 2 healing auras on jewelry before entering the hall of echoes (having replaced the pieces that originally had one), because I didn't want to get stuck somewhere with no way back, having used up all 50 something of my ultimate healing potions and 20 odd ultimate restoration potions. Better safe than sorry...

cuirass: (Legendary) Paladin's Elite Army Cuirass of the Devote
I got this in the mid twenties, or so, for character level, possibly in Stone' fortress, or that of my namesake; it was quite awhile before I began seeing magic armour rating bonuses on jewelry, anyway. I started off putting a Magic Protection 5 or 6 enchantment on it, which I later upgraded.
  • armour rating: melee +6, magic +6
  • +127 Hit Points
  • +5 Heightened Reflexes
  • +4 Indomitable Will
  • charm slot
  • enchantment slot (Magic Protection 9)

belt: (Legendary) Paladin's Brown Leather Belt of the Magic Gods
  • +129 Hit Points
  • +38 mana
  • +9 magic armour rating
  • 2 charm slots
  • enchantment slot (Magic Damage Aura 7)

leggings: (Heroic) Paladin's Elite Battle Leggings of Hope
  • armour rating: melee +2, range +1, magic +1
  • +113 Hit Points
  • +27 mana
  • charm slot
  • enchantment slot (Life Line 9)

helmet: (Heroic) Paladin's Elite Champion Helmet of Hope
This was a random drop in Kali's fortress, from one of the regular opponents, shortly after getting crappy loot from a couple of large chests. It replaced the ugly heavy noble helmet I had been using for some time (+74 HP, +4 Int...).
  • armour rating: magic +8
  • +109 Hit Points
  • +5 Indomitable Will
  • charm slot
  • enchantment slot (Life Line 9)

gauntlets: (Legendary) Paladin's Heavy Gauntlets of Hope
  • armour rating: melee +2, magic +2
  • +120 Hit Points
  • +55 mana
  • +9 melee armour rating
  • charm slot
  • enchantment slot (Life Line 9)

bracelet: (Legendary) Paladin's Engraved bronze Bangle of Eternal Burning
Before heading to the hall of echoes I stopped by the jeweler in Aleroth just to sell a bunch of stuff, and he happened to have a better bracelet than the one I had reloaded for a few levels earlier and didn't end up even using.
  • +167 Hit Points
  • +4 magic armour rating
  • charm slot
  • enchantment slot (Spontaneous Combustion 10)

earring: (Legendary) Paladin's Sapphire Droplet Earrings of Aleroth
  • +96 Hit Points
  • +8 Strength
  • 2 charm slots
  • enchantment slot (Healing Aura 10)

ring: (Legendary) Paladin's Plain Ring of Aleroth
  • +97 Hit Points
  • +3 Vitality
  • +6 Conditioned Body
  • charm slot
  • enchantment slot (Healing Aura 10)

ring: (Legendary) Paladin's Bronze Ridged Ring of Static Charge
  • +65 Hit Points
  • +4 Strength
  • +3 Conditioned Body
  • +6 Indomitable Will
  • 2 charm slots
  • enchantment slot (Static Charge 8)

necklace: (Legendary) Paladin's Pewter Locket of Eternal Burning
  • +146 Hit Points
  • +4 Strength
  • 2 charm slots
  • enchantment slot (Spontaneous Combustion 6)

Before heading to the hall of echoes, I used the following equipment (through most of the game) for the Wisdom bonuses, keeping 'better' items on hand in case I ran into trouble (though they all started off at least half decent for when I got them).

bracelet: Bear's Wishing Well Exquisite Bracelet of Aleroth
Used from level 13, when I got it, to just before the hall of echoes.
  • +31 Hit Points
  • +1 Wisdom
  • 2 charm slots
  • 2 enchantment slots (Healing Aura 10 / Static Charge Aura 3)

earrings: (Heroic) Wisdom's Kundan Ruby Earrings of the Avenger
This was a quest reward from the archeologist in Broken Valley, and I think the only time I took an item rather than extra experience when given a choice.
  • +2 Vitality
  • +2 Heightened Reflexes
  • +1 Wisdom
  • charm slot
  • enchantment slot (Retribution Aura 4)

necklace: Hermit's Talisman of the North
I got this at level 9 or 10, and may have started using it right away; it wasn't enchanted until level 12 or 13.
  • +1 Spirit
  • +1 Heightened Reflexes
  • +1 Indomitable Will
  • +2 Wisdom
  • charm slot
  • 3 enchantment slots (Healing Aura 10)

Weapons

I used dual axes for much of the time before the battle tower, as they had the best damage (swords or mixed for the first few levels). After the battle tower I used Barnabus' mace and a couple different hammers for quite awhile.

(Legendary) Disintegrating Normal Heavy Noble Sword of Doom
  • damage: 44-73
  • +39 melee damage
  • +29 magic damage
  • 1 charm slot
  • 1 enchantment slot (Increased Damage 9)

(Unique) Paladin's Well Crafted Heavy Noble Hammer of the Snake
Dropped by Ba'al in the mine; too bad I didn't go back to Broken Valley until the fjords were almost cleared.
  • damage: 61-75
  • +39 melee damage
  • +31 Hit Points
  • +3 Vitality
  • +4 Strength
  • 2 charm slots
  • 3 enchantment slots (Increased Damage 9 / Increased Magical Damage 9 / Poison 9)

(Heroic) Paladin's Normal Heavy Noble Bow of Doom
I found a bow very helpful early in the game, handy mid game, and just used to break crates (etc) late in the game. I had Rothman's bow equipped for some time, and made sure to switch to it before turning in quests.
  • ranged damage: 29-87
  • +16 ranged damage
  • +11 magical damage
  • +44 Hit Points
  • charm slot
  • enchantment slot (Increased Damage 9)

For the dragon form I removed all equipment except for the Bone Dragon Cuirass (+40% hit points) and Bone Dragon Leggings (+40% offense) once I could max Firebreath, Fire Sphere, Dragon Spirit and Dragon Burst without the need for equipment spell bonuses. I didn't use Dragon Burst that much (came in handy a couple times), and never tried the summon, shield or polymorph spells.
Dang, I screwed up my stats. (Can't edit my original post.) Included now are my "naked" stats. Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence were also modified by potions.

I thought I had a lot of hit points and did a good amount of damage, although I was spanked by the ending. Then I saw Raze's stats... woof. What is curious, my resistances were practically double Raze's, oh and I STILL GOT SPANKED. The armor and EQ that was dropped having HP bonuses was half what Raze was seeing. I'm confused. Did I mention that I got spanked?

@ Raze, Thanx for the display format idea.

Hey there, since noone seems to have chosen my combination of skills I feel the need to post.

I played the game on medium, though I set the difficulty to hardest possible for the final encounter, just to see if I could do it. Had to take 4 Healthpotions, but I managed. Basically spammed Whirlwind and Thousand Strikes on Zandalor whilst being surrounded by the crowd, healed by my ghost and assised by my creature.

You do know the max for each skill is 13 and not 15?
Posted By: Raze Re: Build with which you finished Div 2 - 05/04/10 08:57 PM

Some skills can be upgraded to level 15, if you have upgraded the trainer's platform twice (for example, level 15 of Mindread gives a 100% reduction in the experience cost of mindreading... not that that's available early enough to make a significant difference).
Posted By: mikepaul Re: Build with which you finished Div 2 - 07/04/10 01:37 AM
Xbox 360, completed 4/6/2010. I noticed that I could grind out as much EXP as I needed in one of the fortresses and had a plan to max out Magic Blast and Exploding Arrows so I needed to get to Level 40. It took a long time but even at Level 39 I earned over 2,000 EXP in like 3 minutes so it wasn't forever.

So I entered Aleroth at Level 40 with (important stuff anyway) Magic Blast at 15, Exploding Arrows at 15, Ranger Strength at 5, Way of the Ranger at 4 and Summon Demon at 5, and since nobody could lay a hand on me and one arrow got like 6,000 hitpoits at the lowest, it was stupidly easy. Keeping my creature and my demon out of the way was the only issue at Aleroth.

In fact EVERYTHING after leaving for Aleroth was too easy. I had made 300 Ultimate Rejuvination potions just for that final trip and didn't touch one. People just fell over when I fired arrows and blasted them. Dragons flew at me but not one even hurt me.

Now, I'm not upset. Raze, for example, was really annoying even though at that point I was still killing him every time I hit the Blast button, since he had undone my lever pulling and I had to do that over and over. Having to keep fighting for half an hour at Level 29 sucking down potions like that was what made me keep grinding for hours to be better than the bad guys, but BOY did it seem like maybe the final fight should scale just a little more to the player's level.

Anyway, I'm not sure what's going to be happening with the upcoming new content, but I'm sure up for it as long as I can load this character. Thanks very much: this is only the fourth Xbox 360 game, and the only DVD-based one, that I have 100% Achievements on. None of that "Complete on Legendary" stuff...

Thanks for all the great input. We really appreciate this.

If anyone feels like helping out even more for the new content by submitting their endgame savegames, that would also be a good fieldtest.

So, if you have finished the game in English on PC and still have your savegames of the ending of the game, please upload them somewhere. (for example : yousendit, rapidshare or dropbox)

And post the link here or send it to me in a PM.

Good idea!! smile
And possible, playtesters (haven't own a savegame because playing Divinity II on xbox!) can use some of this savegames to try if it works fine playing the AddOn Flames of Vengeance! delight

And feel the difference between playing the "Flames of Vengeance" with savegame or without a savegame! biggrin

Maybe also a good thing(?):
People who send their savegame to Larian Studios: write down a little about your playstyle, like for example: Pure Warrior, BattleMage, Ranger, Mage, etc etc ....

If you want a 360 gamesave, mail me a USB stick. The latest update SHOULD allow you to use the gamesave once I send it back.

Let me know if you are interested...

Thanks for the offer mikepaul, but currently we are only looking for PC eng savegames to keep things simple.

Weapons:
Aleroth Archmage Warhammer w/ 1 charm and 2 enchantments {primary hand weapon}
(Legend)Paladin's Well-Crafted Light Noble Sword of the Firebat 1-handed Sword: Melee 41-69, 13% critical hit chance; +3 vitality, +15 melee damage, +86HP, (+15% fire curse enchantment)

NOTES: opa
*Difficulty* I originally started the game on "normal" difficulty; had to switch to "easy" to kill bunny because my bow was only doing, at most 5HP damage--after going to "easy," bow began doing 100+HP damage! That bunny has A LOT of life! I went back to "normal" difficulty until Orobas Fjords, where I had to go "easy" again because of all the goblin shaman hoards/mobs. They'd take me out in just a couple of hits, often before I could get close enough to do any damage, even as a ranger! Finished the game on "easy" because, in my opinion, balancing is off when facing hoards/mobs. I'll try a different character build next time to see if it was merely my build that was off.

*Skills* Some skills are worth something only in the beginning of the game, particularly the summons (other than demon, which was awesome!) and the polymorph. I didn't choose them early on, and by the time I wanted to use those skills, they weren't high enough to be of help. I am grateful, therefore, for being able to "unlearn" skills and redoing to fit that later game playing.

WHIRLWIND is a fantastic and useful skill, which I used a lot-- cool down time is adequate for balance. JUMP ATTACK I didn't use until much later, and I like that it's passive. REGENERATION was very useful, but I didn't know about that skill until after I was level 33 or 34! REFLECT is a definite keeper! Great skill, and again, I love that it's passive. I didn't get FIREWALL until much later (after level 30), but found it extremely useful, particularly going human battle in the flying fortresses. Maybe it would have helped against those nasty goblin mobs! POTION MASTERY was good. SUMMON DEMON and SUMMON MASTERY are definite keepers-- they are very helpful to a mostly melee fighter.

*Set Items* I found the complete Ulthring set, Scorpion Set, Hunter Set, and Aleroth Archmage set. I like there are sets, and it's okay that the sets require you to basically choose what type of character build-- BUT, it would have been nice to know about/get these earlier on in the game to plan placement of points better (since those cannot be reset). Even with my waiting to place points, I found the Aleroth set first, so I threw down my saved points so I could use that set-- I may have preferred the Scorpion set, however, as I was mostly a melee fighter for the latter half of the game (basically, post Battle Tower). The Ulthring set is a very good set-- love the bonus' it gives, the charm slots, and enchantment slots-- but again, would have been nice to get this a little earlier on in the playing to get more use out of the sets. ~~I do like that an entire set is in 'one' location-- one fortress, instead of spread all over different fortresses or the Fjords. This is the only game I've ever been able to complete a set with, and I have to say "That's nice."

*Charms and Enchantments* I like the ability to enchant and unenchant items. This was a great feature I utilized quite a bit. The best thing about unenchanting is learning that enchantment in the process! I found charms to be nearly worthless. +1 to anything even early in the game is too low, particularly for applying something that cannot be reversed. For future reference, if something is going to be irreversible, then it'd be nice for it to be worth something; maybe starting charms at +5 or more to something (again, because it's irreversible).

*Gold* I ended the game with 88,435 gold-- I wasn't expecting the end to come so soon after getting such good 'stuff', or I'd have enchanted the heck out of what I had.

*Humor* woehoe I LOVE your sense of humor!! Both hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed the humor woven into the original Divine Divinity, and I was very happy to see that same humor brought into this game-- that's part of what keeps me playing! Bringing back the conversation about "existential thought" skeletons was a very nice touch that I greatly appreciated. Keep that humor coming! So, were those three pigs in Aleroth supposed to be a reference to Otho's pigs? Nice touch with the "Kirill" in the Battle Tower and being able to choose compositions.

*Music* birthdayjump As usual, the music by Kirill is fantastic. He's a wonderful composer, and his music makes your games worthwhile to play (even when there's gliches!) by itself. I do hope your future games will continue to feature his compositions. Music is very much a part of my being, and plays an important role (in my opinion) in gaming. Love Kirill!

*What I didn't like* down The main thing I didn't like about this game was having main quests that included the jumping & platforms things. I found that the controls on this game "loose," less specific control than some other 3D games I've played. If one is going to have a main quest that requires that amount of specificity, then there should be a "tighter" control and less delay between when I hit a key (space bar = jump, for example) and when the character performs the action. While I appreciate the throw back to Nintendo games, that whole hand-eye coordination never did work well with me. Also, the dragon flying controls were... headache inducing! While flying as a dragon, when hitting a "no access" part (like, getting close to land, hitting the edge of the map, etc), the rapid camera movement was very hard on the eyes and head (yes, I know that those of use who suffer migraines need to be careful with 3D games, and I read the warning). There were also times where it appeared I "should" be able to go somewhere, but get stuck, which many times cost me hundreds of hit points if not the life! Whether as human or dragon, the controls seemed a little "too loose"-- I'm not sure how to better explain this.

Overall, up up this was comparably addictive as your Divine Divinity. The discovery of side quests easier on this than DD, which is nice-- I have a lot of fun doing side quests, for story as well as for leveling up. It's a game I'd recommend, and one I will definitely play again (because now I know how to better build a character). . . and I may play it again before allowing hubby to get his turn with it! smile

Great job, Larian! thankyou This was a very fun game, even during the frustrating times (like the platform jumping).

All best,
~~CierraShore groovy

I would be happy to send you my last autosave (which is right before the major battle), or my last character save, which is right before stepping on the teleporter into the memory scene; but when I tried to send you a PM, it says "This user is not accepting PMs". I'll also need you to specify how to send you the save game (I've maxed out the saves on my PC w/ a single character, and just started a new character). That is, unless I'm too late to help. frown

Thanks, and hope I can assist!

You'll have to excuse my vaugeness, but this save is either in the orobas fjords just before the hall of echoes, partway through the hall of echoes, or a few moments before the end of the final battle, i'm afraid they all have roughly the same time of when they were last "modified" so i'm unsure :P

I've got my info from fist playtrough, but it was version 1.01 - stats really differs when comparing to 1.03 info. I never played 1.03 version, so, here is a question: do you need 1.01 data or it is outdated already?

I am sorely disappointed in the last fight in Ygern's memory. There is no room for counter strategy on the players part what-so-ever. I play many story based and strategy RPG's and this one makes a decent attempt at that only to bombard you at the end with an immpossible fight that reminds me why I can't fathom the enjoyment of shooter mentality. The only option to end this game is to show up with an outrageous amount of skill power in which it would require eons to accumalate. By the time you learn that the game ends with an overpowering fight scene that requires no thinking, you are locked in Ygern's memory with no possible retreat or ability to regroup unless you go to an earlier save. Then you get to refight your way back to an unrewarding mass attack. A terrible ending to an otherwise enjoyable game. I look forward to Flames Of Vengeance but like Ego Draconis I do not intend to finish the last scene if I am forced to enter a mindless battle that completely destroys the effort it took to get there.

There are strategies that help in the final battle (which is suppose to be challenging).

I need help with a battle (Spoilers) Ygerna's memory

help im stuck in hall of echoes

Another..Hall of Echoes question

The add-on apparently has a 'good' ending, so you don't have to worry about it destroying the effort it will take to get there.

Hi My savegame is here:

http://cid-a20325bd35b5b75e.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/.Public?uc=1

I found the end pretty challenging.
Hello everyone, I still remember many of you from Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity. I'm the Grimm who put together the Beyond Divinity walkthrough quite a while back. I finished the game today and really enjoyed most of it. My only criticisms are that the moving platform problems are incredibly frustrating and boring, please don't do that again aargh also, many of the quests are too convoluted and vague. From posts that I read I expected the final battle to be very hard... it turned out to be incredibaly easy and I only required 1 health potion in the entire Hall Of Echoes, within about 5 seconds everyone but me and Zandalor was dead. The key for me was how I used the charm and enchantment slots on the equipment (go very heavy on "Retribution Aura" "Damage Aura" and "Healing Aura". So, on to the questions:

Character = Ranger

Difficulty = Easy (first time through)

Level = 35

Stats = Vitality 42
Spirit 18
Strength 44
Dexterity 56
Intelligence 41

Skills = ** Still had 4 unused skill pts. and 6 unused Dragon skill pts. at end of game
Summon Mastery 1
Blind 3
Summon Demon 5
Mana Efficiency 2
Destruction 1
Firewall 12
Regeneration 4 (+1 from equipment)
Reflect 7
Poison Arrow 3
Ranger Strength (+1 from equipment - never used)
Potion Efficiency 1
Ranger Stealth 2
Splitting arrow 2 (waste of skill points)
Evade 1
Explosive Arrow 12
Way of the Ranger 1 (never used)
Mindread 2
Wisdom 1 (+2 from equipment)
Lockpick 5
Encumbrance 4
All 5 weapon expertises 1
Dragon Firebreath 5 (Rarely used)
Dragon Burst 3 (+2 from equipment)
Dragon Fire Sphere 4 (+1 from equipment)
Dragon Summon Friend 5
Dragon Polymorph 0 (never found a use for it)
Dragon Dragon Shield 1 (never used it)
Dragon Dragon Spirit 5

Armor = ** I studied the armor sets and they are not very good. They beef up your
character's primary skills but leaves you vulnerable in the other disciplines.
Necklace = Hermit's Talisman of the North of Eternal Burning
Ring #1 = (Legendary) Necromancer's Plain Ring of Eternal Burning
Ring #2 = (Legendary) Infused Delicate Pewter Ring of the Warrior God
Belt = (Heroic) Conjurer's Oil-Tanned Leather Belt of Aleroth
Helm = (Unique) Paladin's Elite Battle Helmet of Vengeance
Cuirass = Paladin's Ulthring's Cuirass of the Guardian
Gauntlets = (Unique) Hero's Light Army Gauntlet of the Devote (From Hall of Echoes)
Leggings = (Legendary) Diviner's Heavy Rogue Leggings of Vengeance
Bangle = (Magical) Monk's Polished Bangle of Aleroth
Earings = (Heroic) Sorceror's Fuschia Droplet Earings of Eternal Burning
Dragon Armor = Full Crystal set except for the Plate Mail Cuirass

Weapons = Bow = Archmage's Bow of Tiberius of Doom (only weapon I used)

Thanks to Larian for another great game.

That explains a lot why the second play-through for me was waaaay easier. Final battle was practically nothing, and didn't last long!

I usually pick "Retribution Aura" (as high as possible through out the game-- on end-game, I had a lot of 30% retribution!) for my enchantments-- do they stack? Seems to for me! Love retribution!

~~CierraShore
p.s.
Retribution Aura is a definite keeper... and high level for summon demon & summon mastery, along w/ building a great creature. I'd say that's what made my mostly melee character smokin' at the end! smile
CierraShore:

The Auras do seem to stack. For Retribution Aura I have 1 @ 35% and 3 @ 41%. For Dmg Aura I have 1 @ 30 Dmg, 2 @ 42 Dmg, 1 @ 48 Dmg, and 2 at 54 Dmg. For Heal Aura I have 2 @ 0.225 per sec.
In the Hall Of Echoes battles with Charon, Marius, Sassan, Amdusias, Liaken, Razakel, Lady Kara, Lord John, and Ba'al my health bar never even moved.

A 2nd time through will be to concentrate even more on those Auras. Just don't know if I can put up with the moving platforms again though... horsey
Grim,

Good info. I hear you with the moving platforms. They are VERY annoying! But, they do sorta get easy w/ time... and difficulty level set to "easy"?

I think my next go-around I'll trying a really different character build, even though I tend towards warrior-types. I've tried playing 3 other games after finishing EG, one of them being giving Beyond Divinity another chance.... but really, I want to fly and breathe fire on everything. And where's the 'ice lung' that dragons are supposed to have and why wasn't it employed? I think that would help.

Anyway... maybe a ranger/mage build this time. We'll see.

Thanks for confirming the 'stacks'.

I so love this game. I watched "Avatar" the other day on hi-definition.... it was okay, but I actually liked playing Ego Draconis better than watching that movie!! Now, maybe Larian could get the rights to make a game from Avatar.... new mount & flight fighting.... oh the possibilities!

Anyway, totally going off topic.

Ya'll have a good night/day.

-Poison Aura enchant for fun

Basic idea for me was, being a glass canon, so good magic defs, and ranged as good as possible too, but seems like ranged damage was rather low so didn't bother too much. Melee not too bad either for the charges, but usually shouldn't be hitting me. For the rest everything focused on damage dealing.

Also you can see I have lotsa charm slots left. That was because by the time I realised I was doing the end-game, I just went for it, without boosting every tiny bit I could.

Weapons: Dual wielding, because it looks fun and better / more stats boosts / slots

Yay! Just finished this great game! I'm a hell knight (i.e. Curse/fire magic warrior). As someone mentioned in an earlier post, I hope you will give most of the priest spells a significant boost in the expansion.

Just finished the game. It was (and still is) a great game to play, although there are some downs too. For example i couldn't find the difficulty setting and when i DID found it, i finished the game... The 3 major sets are great too, only if you are planning to make a ranger, a mage or a warrior. I was able to wear all 3 of them but only after I had some charms put into my equipment. But all this was compensated with one thing if you ask me, and that is the battle tower! It was a great idea do put something like that in a game, because i hated it when i could find the right gems, enchantments or ingredients for the things i needed. But enough of this chatter back to the question. The stats in green are with equipment on.

I finished last nite. Great fun. Bravo to the developers! I thought EGO DRACONIS was one of the best games I've played, the best since Bioshock, I'd say. I've been playing video games for a long time and play only on PC. Just to give you the context, I started playing when Space Invaders and Asteroids were new in arcades. I'm in NY now. 59 years old. I used to play mostly FPS, starting with the original Unreal Tournament, which was a life changing experience. :o) Now that I'm an old fart, I can't take the constant tension. I'm less twitchy and have come to enjoy RPGs much more. I played Dragon Age, Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Guild Wars. But I've developed a great fondness for "central European" single player RPGs: started with Stalker, the Gothic series and Risen, Witcher, King's Bounty, Drakensang (which was great), and now EGO DRACONIS.

I'd just say this: the graphics are beautiful. You don't have to upgrade the engine on my behalf. More resolution just puts more strain on the system and hits the FPS. Another big feature of the game, I thought, was the maneuverability of the avatar - walk/run, jump, front and back flip, roll left/right. That added a great deal of fun. I loved to do a front flip off a cliff and then morph into dragon form and fly off. Mixing ground combat and aerial combat also worked splendidly.

I played on normal as a mage/archer. Fireball, exploding arrows, and summon undead. If I get a chance, I'll post my stats. I'm not that interested in tough boss fights. What's fun for me is to achieve god-like status and just romp.

So I wanted to thank the developers for a great game. After reading the reviews, I grabbed it off Impulse here in the US. I'm looking forward to FOV.
Thanks for the kind words, Johnny, and welcome to the forum! wave
Well I finished at Level 34, the part I had the most trouble with was THE VERY ENTRANCE TO THE HALL OF ECHOES. I was being one hit killed as my dragon.
Rest of it though was barely being hurt.
This being my first run I made a dual wield pure warrior.

Hmmm, I'm still confuse about the story, maybe I should read all of the books. awaiting to play new game in The Dragon Saga.

Especially, who advising to resurrecting Ygerna? and what sentence is that?
Man, I surely forget things if not playing straight days sometimes...

You were fighting Ygerna's memory of the Divine and Zandalor.

Zandalor was the main proponent of the plan to resurrect Ygerna (I don't recall, but Talana may have also assumed that would kill Damian).

can someone sum up the story

Ending is a MAJOR disappointment.
Oh cool, really appreciate that.

I'm a bit baffled/surprised about the ending topic for this game. The "ending" per-se isn't an ending at all but a prelude of what's to come in the third installment (it wouldn't make any sense to end this game on such a sour note.. there's always a reason why some games end short of what we expect... like Halo 2 or 3 for example.. if there's no dramatic ending, then there will be a next chapter). This game far exceeded my expectations, never thought it was going to be anywhere near as good as it was granted there were a few key instances that just didn't make any sense what-so-ever. For example, you're able to choose b/w good side of a responce and a bad side but the end result was still the same. It's too bad that you couldn't choose whether to be good or evil based on your responses, that would have made the game more-so entertaining giving not just alternate endings but a different angle to the game. The end fight, yeah, was a wee bit easy.. I played a Warrior and just ran in circle picking off each guard until just the Divine and wizard stood, summoned two pets (who went after and distracted the Wiz) while I finished off the Divine rather easily (granted I did have ultimate resistant pots and str/dex up).
Hey guys,

Just finished the game for the first time today using a ranger character (go the explosive arrows!) is there any point in me posting up my stats this late on?

Larian doesn't need the info anymore to determine how strong to start off a new character in FoV, but if you are inclined to post the stats, they will likely be of interest to others (either planning a similar build, or just curious about viable options).
well My first finished stats where a bit unfair, I was level 60 with everything to max lol But I plan On replaying the game no cheating no trainer and I'll post what I decided to do with my stats laugh

dont patch it or people new to the game will find it even harder to play

Actually, reducing the level effect in combat should make it easier at the start of the game, as well, since there wouldn't be as dramatic a difficulty change entering areas with opponents a couple levels higher than yourself.
Posted By: NINER Re: Build with which you finished Div 2 - 20/08/10 08:12 PM
I like the dramatic difficulty change, when I beat them it makes me feel a sense of accomplishment. smile
Damn level 8 goblin cheif when I'm level 5 smile GET R*PED!!! smile
This is from right before the last battle. I did level up in the last battle.

I think it's pretty obvious from this setup that I wasn't expecting the Hall of Echoes to be a one-way trip. There are unused skills I could have re-ordered, empty charm slots, mis-matched armour, there were unused +5 charms in my tower, as well as much stronger enchants I could have applied. I even had a spare dragon spill point I never spent. And so on. But I'd got used to being able to teleport back to the tower whenever I wanted, so didn't think... frown Ah, well.

A number of items had somewhat lousy charms because I accidentally used charms when I meant to click the scrollbar on the charms list, and I didn't bother reloading.

Spent much time on shopping for damage charms and Equipments,Zarniyar is my favourite

Champion Armors are way too cool

5 charm slots equipments are so rare,I only saw once on a unique weapon during the entire game

Killed Ba'al and Divine and Zandalor hundreds of times, finally I got 2 nice unique swords

Butcher is awesome, "Increases your critical hit damage by X" should be "Increases your critical hit chance by X"
didnot find out this until the end of game, what a waste~~

I've been playing on normal till now, and i've just changed to hard. Ehm, i think there's no change. I still get low hits from monsters.

My stats are : With gear / without
HP 587/359
MP 315/254
Vit 30/25
Spirit 9/4
Strenght 35/27
Dex 83/82
Int 15/12

Wep def 50
Range def 40
Mage def 55

conditioned body 47
heightened reflexes 75
indomitable will 20

Damage with bow : 97-249 + 8-56 magic
Archer mode on : 219-560 + magic defences change to : 33/60/55
With potions : 232-594 + magic 48/66/61
Potions add like 20 dex/str/int and 20 all resists

With all this on, even on hard mode, i get hit of max 10 dmg from lower lvl monsters. Only bosses can hit higher. I agree with patching dmg formula but it should work only from lvl like 20 above when a Char gets really powerful because of equips and pots. Lower levels should be able to hit you still and here is where ARMOR MUST to do its job.
Alright i just did a little test. Removed all armors but bow, no potions, archer mode off.
Def bonuses are 14/28/15, vs 3 lvl 27 warriors they were doing 9 max hits and couldn't take more then half of my hp (360 noodie) before i killed them. What are the armors for, then ?
My damage on monsters since critical dmg is 75% normally goes up to 1200 or so with archer mode on, but i sometimes saw 2400-3600 even, wow, 1hit kill.

Highwind You have really nice dmg dude, good that warriors can use those charms. I think archers don't have them because they deal alot more of critical dmg.

My skills are
archer strength 12
knowledge 12
arrow boom 9
archer mode 5
lockpick 4
mana eff 2
regenerate 5 used till now ghost lvl 5 but i noticed regenerate is better and no need to wait for summon
read mind 1 i have 2 rings that give each 1 read mind :P

I reseted the skill points twice already, used lvl 2 multiple shoot too but gave up. I find arrow bomb really useful for now.

As for my equip i'm trying to get some sets, most of them are legendary
Got Tiberius bow and it's enchanted with +24 range dmg and 13% to leech 21% dmg, no charm. Better to Keep alive then doing more dmg :P

I have a question if people still read this.
Does the game patch (400 mb) change anything ? or just fixes some bugs. I didn't installed it yet. And about the expansion:
Is it German only ? I need the spanish version and i've seen that on 3djuegos, they say release date : november 2010 O_o , guess they need time to translate it. Maybe i should check/ask stores.

AFAIK the 1.03 patch brings earlier releases up to the US version (the last and latest release), but I don't know what that includes for the Spanish version. Does the publisher have the patch listed somewhere with a list of changes?

So far only the German version of FoV has been released. All other language versions of FoV are expected for November, along with DKS (the combined remastered D2:ED + FoV).

Welcome to the forum. wave
Im rather suprised to see how high some peoples stats are for the final battle. I had these stats and beat it on easy, seen how many people beat it on hard, and had to try it myself. It was still an absolute cake walk.....don't know why so many people complained.

I killed him and looted the body and thought they were to nice to part with. I'm 100% positive there is better out there but they beat the game for me on hard at lvl. 34, hitting lvl. 35 after the second paladin fall's (free full life and mana heal there). I do apoligize for the length of the post.

Wearing Plate Mail dragon armor for all slots except the curass which is the bone armor.

Notes:
The charm in the amulet is the only one I used. All others I found are in the chest at the battle tower.
I meant to put more points in explosive arrow and fewer in potion effeciancy, but I forgot. I will be redoing the Hall of Echos (saved before entering) before Flames of Vengeance. I also think I forgot to read someone's mind there.
I selected the warrior path in Farglow.
I did not use the skill trainer to remove skill points.
I can beat the final encounter on hard with these stats & equipment, and I did not summon the creature. Very few healing potions were needed, less than 8.
Where are you find that weapons and armors?

In D2:ED the best consistent place to check for equipment (other than the 4 sets) would probably be the 2 merchants in Aleroth. Once you have access you can visit each time you level up to look for upgrades.

That about covers it. Would've been a LOT higher if I got the level 10 enchantments for increased weapon damage, critical rate, life line, and healing aura. If I got my hands on a few charms that'd take my spirit to 100, and I'd have some leftover charm slots for Spirit, which means if I got to 60, I'd be able to get to 100 in everything... but seeing how miniscule the spawn of enemies is, and how long it takes to level, I don't see that happening. xD
Note This is the end of the original game, begining of FoV. I haven't done anything since it ended.

Did this all on Nightmare and I swear I thought it was still on normal.... Note I didn't use any tricks, such as using runner to sell diamonds for gold. I sold EVERY piece of armor/weapon I got and didn't use. It was hard to find enough merchants because I never sold anything in the start of the game, not untill FoV.

WEAPONS

Longbow of the Leopard : 73-564 + (58-81) damage equipped

secondary : Axe of Titus : 98-315 + (397-515) damage equipped
offhand : (Epic) Hero's Elite Battle Shield of the Guardian

I enchanted the sword and Shield so that when they were equipped my HP was 978 and my mana was 640.

I was way overpowered on the Flying Fortresses and was pretty much one shotting the ordinary grunts and taking down the various generals in 3 or 4 hits.

However come Endgame it was a decent last fight and I used maybe 4 or 5 healing potions while I dealt with the Adds then just point and shoot on the 2 main bosses.

on normal once i get good damage and dual wep and life steal on weps and skill life steal and rush i don't need pots any more and i run through the game 1 to 3 hitting any thing but endgame bosses my attack so high i go half the game without even hot-keying pots or pets
loves rush so much a long dungeon is short work when ya can jump to the full distance that ya can even see an enemy at
