What is the point of making all those boulders objects, or for that matter WHY on this little green planet did they waste their time making objects that exist, can be clicked on, but fulfill no function but making movement HORRIBLE.
What a complete waste of time and effort on somthing that actually detracts from the overall enjyment of the game...
BTW has anyone actually gotten anything back from support beyond a poorly translated auto responder ? Been waiting for any sort of response for 2 weeks now <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />
For a game with such great potential it is easy to see why it was in the bargain bin, and why no one else had heard of it....
I don't understand the point you are trying to make. Could you be a little clearer?
Search or post your problem in the appropriate forum here; you should get a responce in considerably less than 2 weeks.
Why do other games have backgrounds displaying objects that you can not do anything with?
While rocks themselves don't add a great deal to the game, they do help make the environment more interactive (which many people actually like), and can probably be thrown at monsters (since I have seen posts where people have thrown barrels or vases at monsters to do damage).
I really don't think you have given this game enough of a chance, and are looking at minor things, that really don't effect game play at all. I don't see how rocks would make this game bad, and made for the bargin bin! Look around the forum and look how many people LOVE this game...
Sorry, but that is my opinion, and i felt it had to be said.

Then you didn't send your support question to
support@larian.com...
Can you please describe what problems you are encountering?

Have you ever read Gamespot's "list of "Best Games No-one played on PC" ? It's among the last year's award list ...

I'll agree that interaction with the game world is a little fiddly sometimes. Clicking on a door to open it sometimes makes the game think you want to go outside and run around the building to other side of the door. Moving and manipulating objects should have used different mechanisms (l-click and r-click maybe) so that sort of thing couldn't happen.
It's worth complaining about, but not to the point that you think it should be a bargain bin title. There are too many great things about the game.
I think the game isn't widely played because it gives a bad first impression. First, the title is seriously weird. Second, the first part of the game is drab and seems like a poor Diablo clone. It's just blind luck that I didn't toss the game's butt off my system after an hour because, as an American, I have a tiny attention span, want immediate gratification, and don't read documentation to find out how trading works.

Despite all it's little bugs and small problems, this game is still, in my opinion, one of the best games to surface this year, or last year! You've gotta give it a chance, spend some time on these forum pages, get informed and increase that short attention span, you'll definetly need to pay attention if your gonna play this game, space invaders it aint! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />
I fully undertand what s/he is saying. I mean really why go to the point of making a highlight of an object if you cant do anything with it.
If you are going to make a highligh of an object then it should be interactive.
It doesnt really detract from my game, but I understand his/her point.

It's probably in the bargain bin because Larian hooked up with a bad publisher that did not get appropriate shelf space and advertising for the game.
I think this is easily the best rpg I have played in years. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
I second that! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />
This sounds like StarTopia all over again. There's almost an entire forum of "We hate Eidos 'cos they didn't market StarTopia and now no-one's heard of this really great game and there won't be a sequal." And I fully agree. Ditto to Divine Divinity. In Australian PC Gamer Magazine, it got a half page review at the end of the reviews section. It got less space than Casino Tycoon!
you can throw rocks at monsters, I saved me from that, hurt them 15 damage, a rock. kill 5 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
that's <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> .......i always wondered about that....
what about chairs and barrels ....... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />
rocks, unimportant highlighted objest just made me pay more attention to the entire game. Never thried to use rock or anything else as a weapon tho, nice idea.
welcome to the new forum members.

That's how I found it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Morpheon
i think his point is that there are some objects in the game which can be clicked on but have no function at all. For example the mushrooms. U can click on them but neither move them or put them in ur invertory.
Well, with the mushrooms, if you click on them with an empty flask (& have the alchemy skill) you can make potions.
Haven't tried throwing any barrels lately, but they do come in handy for killing rats (as I found out after moving one & hearing a 'squishy splat' sound - whoops, minus one rat <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif" alt="" /> ).
As for the original post, I find it hard to believe someone would judge/discard a game over such a trivial thing <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/exclamation.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> .
Oh well, to each their own I suppose <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> .
(Their loss for missing out on a great game <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" /> )
has anyone tried throwing a barrel full of poison on an orc? took the dude out in a few secs.
I tried that once. I think it was one of the bosses. Quite effective! He only needed a couple of hits after that.
As you clearly stated they have no real significance in the game world how can that detract from your enjoyment? You know they can't really be used for anything, so just ignore them, they are in effect just part of the scenery!!
I don't think the moveable objects should be ignored - you find keys under rocks, trap doors under other objects, treasures behind/under some others. That there is a number where there is nothing, adds to your exploration - I think it can be boring if ONLY things that hide something are highlighted. If it is too much trouble , you can always use the ALT-key to look whether it is worth moving the object.
(Could also be that the world designers copied a lot of moveable objects into the world, and the story designers did not fill all the oppotununities)
True glance, I was refering to the the frequent rocks etc spoiling the enjoyment of the game for gamers. How can they spoil the enjoyment?. I didn;t mean completely ignore them/don't investigate underneath them, but don't let them spoil the game for you by cringing at the very sight of them.
Your right about things being moved etc, as that is how I discovored the trap door under a house where you find the murdering vampire, if my memory serves me right!!
yes it's true and the vampire's called tutamun, george's murderer <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
but also by removing some stuff you can find zombie jake for the second time in aleroth and get to the brothel in verdistis and expose dr elrath... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/idea.gif" alt="" />
Thanks mike, it's always reasuring to know my memory hasn't deserted me!!
