Hi all,

i am sitting here in Germany in a Hotel for one month with an Internet-Router or Firewall that blocks STEAM Ports. So i cannot start STEAM!

I would really like to buy D:OS and i found a German store which sells D:OS on DVD smile

My 2 Questions:

1.)
I am always reading that D:OS is DRM free.
Can i install the DVD Version without having problems to start D:OS after installation?
How do i get the latest Updates and Patches (v1.0.57) for D:OS without Steam?

2.)
I thought about to buy D:OS on GOG.com
But i think there will be an GOG Client or Downloader too.
Does GOG use special ports that may be blocked by the router of my Hotel?
I can not find a support E-Mail Address on GOG.com

Thank you for your Help!

I think you should be safer with the GOG version for now.
Can't say how Gog galaxy will work, but for now they provide an installer you can download directly.

The Steam version is in principle DRM-free - you still need Steam to install it, and it will install updates through Steam, but you don't need it to run - I myself have made a link on the desktop with the exe in the D:OS directory and this completely bypasses Steam (as in, it's not running, I could probably delete Steam and move the D:OS directory somewhere else).
However, I'd guess that if there is a hint on the DVD cover that it needs Steam, the DVD version will still try to launch Steam at least once during the installation.

Just checked my cover and there's a note saying "requires the dowload of files to finish the installation", so you definitely need an internet connection (and likely Steam) the first time you start the game. You don't need it later, when my connection went down this week I could still play.

If you are looking for D:OS with german textfiles then you should know that gog seems somewhat behind here (steam already delivers, by hearsay). Personally I don't like steam and play the English version from gog until the German text files are available.

EDIT:
Ooops forget this, gog *has* german localization! Just not where I expected it: It's available via start button -> all programms -> gog.com -> Divinity - Original sin -> Language Settings (English, French, German)

GOG does have an optional downloader program (don't think it requires any particular ports being open), but you can also download from your browser. When the GOG client (Galaxy) is launched in a couple months, it will also be optional.

Thanks!

GOG Version with Patch 1.0.57 is working perfectly without (STEAM) internet Connection!

Hope that Patch 1.0.63 is working too!

Any problems with 1.0.63?
