Hello everyone ! My very first message on here :D But I'm here to protect you from some evil weresheep! Do not fret :D Except if its name begins with Tofu. Then I'm running. hahaha Hope to see a lot of you on here ^^

In other news, the past few days have been a nerdy overload for me x.x Not only did we get up to the 2M goal and I'll be getting one of the Divine Order hoodies, but Battletech is also having a kickstarter and so is Steve Lichman. Never read Steve Lichman before, but that preview had me fall in love with it x_x Too much nerdy for one elf to handle!

Mine's currently burning a hole in that block of ice I encased it in after spending $135 on Divinity's kickstarter. Dammit, I'm trying to save up for an apartment!

Come live in Paris. You'll see : you'll never ever even think about buying an appartment ...
Unless you're not afraid of getting a 25years long loan. And inherited lots of money.
And then I learned that France has a lot of great animation schools...
I actually know a few things about that
But I think it's mostly Paris that costs so much. It's insane, really. You'll get a parking place for the price you'd need to buy a well located house anywhere else in the country. ( ok I'm exagerating here, buuut... am I ? ) I'd bet it can be worse in other countries, but France really has an issue with everything happening in Paris, thus making the city dirty, polluted, with a high cost of life.
At least we've got trees almost everywhere, lots of parks, and a few good schools.
Hey gang! I backed and planning to join alpha when it hits so might as well join the forum while I'm at it. It was my first kickstarter and gotta say it was exciting to be a part of the beginning of what will hopefully be the greatest game ever(sure looks like it will become that or atleast come close).

Welcome! We were also thinking that this could be the place you can search for people to party up with when EE and 2 comes out.

My very first Kickstarter Backing.
I've only a few weeks ago decided to invest again in a new cRPG after having been away from gaming for a number of years.
My last RPG was Neverwinter Nights where I spent some time programming helpful scenarios. At least I thought they were helpful - and I know of at least seven - err... five people who liked it.

We did hit the dedicated mod support. Maybe you can make a bigger, better, more helpful scenario this time?

To get right into it: What do you guys think of the games master mode? I've never played pen and paper(some friends do or did) but won't it be hard to actually emulate the same kind of experience on computer? You can make your own dungeon, throw in some enemies, traps or puzzles but what about implementing stories or quests? It feels like it would be kind of hard to do this from a narrative perspective. You don't have the freedom of creating your own story because you will probably be working with templates and the narrative you create has to work within that context, or am I being to negative here. I'm asking how do you people think it will work.

Thanks. The comment section of any KS campaign tend to get quiet after it ends. This way we can find each other easily and continue the epic random spam.

I think it will be hard to pull off and make properly, but probably not as hard as expected. Way I see it it will have to work side by side with the editor, involving, just like a true P&P RPG, a lot of preparations from the game master. Of course there's still room for annoucements, but I recko(i)n the simplest way to go would be modular : create assets in the editor, from monsters to gear to whole rooms or even dialogues, prepare a "strong" base content, and if your players are adventurous, use your modules on the fly for their benefit. True complex dialogues and deep interactions are probably not going to be doable while still retaining a certain level of freedom and most of all, fluidity for the players. However, you could still play it "the old way", which is simply engaging real dialogues with the players whenever you want an interaction with a NPC to sound real.
Obviously I don't expect the GM mode to be able to deliver a full "Roleplaying" kind of session ( as opposed to combat-oriented session ), in which you leave a lot of freedom to your players. However with a carefully crafted campaign thanks to the editor, you may lay the foundations to such a game. Then your role as Game Master would essentially be to offer some interactions that would be way more organic than counting on scripts alone.

Reporting you for random spam of epic proportions. Say goodbye to your account. ( AKA real player threats in WoW )
I think the person GM'ing would have to have some setup in mind before starting the campaign, so they would have to be passingly familiar with the assets they'd want to use. And probably at least halfway decent with the modding editor :o

Having done several D&D campaigns and (failed attempts to) set up a few, myself, this does look quite promising. Narrative can easily be done over voice such as Steam, Skype, TeamSpeak or Discord (I HIGHLY recommend Discord), which can save the GM plenty of time instead of having to type out scripts and interaction lines. It'll probably have easy drop-in NPCs and whatnot to it. The GM will no doubt have access to everyone's character sheet and it would be a lot more organized than sites like Roll20. The Engine will be the game's "Core Rulebook" that the GM will have access to tweak certain things if necessary. I'm actually considering bringing over my campaign ideas to it instead of Roll20.
Edit: As for quests, I assume the GM would also have access to bestowing items/XP to the party.

So basically what I was thinking about. But still it can be very fun if you stopped playing the main campaign. But I feel like it will never give that satisfaction I get from evolving in a story and making a lasting choice(which 4 player co-op in the main story does seem to aiming at). I guess it will all depend on the freedom the editor provides.
Best thing is that you can even dream of creating campaigns for other DM to run. Just like the real thing. After all, at the core of almost every campaign, there are pre-established maps.
The ultimate trick would probably be to let your player start on a small patch of land into the nothingness and build the world as they go, which would be some X-trem GMing. If the tool work, however, I can almost fully expect that someone will try it and suceed at it. Modders are a rare breed of passionate people.
also am I doing something wrong with the qoutes? Because everything is showing up between brackets but not how it should be(in a little box beginning with originally posted by).

Well, it may provide MORE satisfaction, it's all up to the Gamemaster =) Best case scenario, there is no difference for the players between the standard campaign and the gamemastered one. Story and interactions should have even more lasting consequences as the GM should be able to virtually change anything to reflect his players' choices, instead of having to rely on preprogrammed scripts that may feel sometimes awkward ( the standard DOS2 campaign *will* be like this ) It should be the ultimate freedom experience, as long as the GM can provide! =)
Do you know maybe OCTGN ? It's a program that enables you to play any card game online. I played some Android: Netrunner over OCTGN. The rules are there because someone programmed them in, but you can also perfectly do everything manually. Declare you start a run on the corp servers, let the other guy rez an ice or not, everyone calculates his own costs, etc. It's virtually a blank slate BUT with all the visuals from the card game, so it feels like the real thing except you're on your computer alone. A tad less sexy I'd say, but when you have nobody to play with locally ... it's perfectly functionnal.
On a separate note, I am actually creating a public Discord server for anyone to hop on and chat, maybe find some campaign buddies. It's all part of my evil plan to pull as many people off of Skype and TeamSpeak as possible >^> Huehuehue. I'll paste it once I get proper permissions and channels set up.
In all seriousness though, the guys at Discord deserve the attention and I'm giving them the deserved word-of-mouth promotion.
Like I said I never played pen&paper so I'm absolutely in the dark about the actual possibilities concerning bringing it to live within software. So from what I understand is that creating narrative will work the way it works on pen&paper through the art of imagination. You can create a dungeon but the story behind it will be the game masters doing and will be solely possible when narrated through other channels beside the game. So you create a story outside of the game, create an environment for this story in the game or will the game have more options then just creating the environment for the narrative you created? It just that I want to understand what the actual possibilites are.

Of course this is all speculation. But yes, that could be it. You think of a story, lay out your dungeon. Let your players run through it, maybe thrown in surprises real time. The a sign of a great GM is knowing how to react to the adventurer actions.
If you are up to watching a pen and paper in action, I highly recommend Titansgrave on Geek and Sundry.
Well, to save myself a couple sentences explaining what it brings to the table compared to the other big programs used for gaming/party chat: A friend came across this program a while ago and it is a lot more user-friendly than the others. TeamSpeak has a lot of hoops you have to jump through to set up a server (not to mention it looks like a Windows 98 program) and Skype has been getting more bloated and annoying. Discord's servers are set up in a way similar to Skype's chatting, but with a separate text/voice channel setup, kind of like a modern TeamSpeak. The dev team specifically built it to give gamers a haven from Skype and TeamSpeak specifically. Oh, and did I mention you don't have to download it to use it? It has a browser client, too! You can just set a username and get into it without even registering (though registering is required if you want to reserve that username for future use)
Thanks! And also I have a friend who is a 'game master' for the dark eye(german pen and paper) so I can probably persuade him to create a campaign. The more I think about it, these type of features can really give big replay opportunities to this game. I mean I'm playing vampire: the masquerade bloodlines right now and the amount of modding that is still going on for this game is astonishing. It's eleven years old for christ sake.

Great mods and mod support can do that for a game.
I moved half a dozen 'new users' into the 'user' group, so you should be able to add a portrait/signature and will not need to enter captchas to post, etc. If you edit a previous reply and hit the button to save changes, quotes and smilies will show up properly.
Hi everyone, first time KS backer & actually first time here on the forums too.
I joined in the wild ride because how awesome D:OS was. I also managed to convince friends to join me in the KS campaign. As for all the Stretch Goals I didn't really care I just wanted to make sure that 1) this game got made & 2) I was involved for once, but seeing the discussion about GM mode I'm super excited seeing as the friends I dragged in are from my old D&D days & we're in different countries so if we can scratch a little of that old itch, that'd be great.
Hey guys, first time backer here and I'm glad my first Kickstarter had such as awesome community. Props to you guys (and Larian of course). I'm really, really psyched for GM mode. Ever since I started DMing for my playgroup, I've wanted a system to automate things for me. That way I can spend more time crafting the story and lore, than speding brain power on minutiae like rules enforcement. I can see why people think it would be difficult to DM online/in real time but I think it's comparable to tabletop RPGs. You would still spend a week beforehand crafting storylines and alternative scenarios for the characters, and during the game you just drop them into play and occasionally deal with curveballs the players throw at you. I agree with MechSoldier that narrative can be handled most easily through chat and voice. In all, you would lose a bit of the interplay and socialization from tabletop gaming, but you gain a lot more in terms of rules automation, art assets, fewer chances for metagaming, and most important to me, the ability to play with people anywhere in the worlds. A couple of things that I would like to see implemented in GM mode (let me know what you think) which would be really cool: 1) Procedural generation: You could generate everything from whole worlds to the layout and furnishings of a single room (I have the hardest time deciding what to put in dungeon rooms), maybe even NPCs, loot, and monsters 2) Session replay: Speaking from personal experience, my playgroup and I have a hard time remembering the details of things that happened a few sessions ago (especially when dealing with those curveballs I mentioned). It would be great to just be able to replay the pertinent parts for the group or an individual (less metagaming again) Can't wait!
Omg....you guys were all in here =( I was refreshing the comment section of the KS and like ... no familiar faces anymore...I was so sad ! Then I come here AND BAM 5 pages and my smile is back. Though the mini heart attack is still in effect. xD
Thanks @Raze to move some of the [newbs] to the user group
Hey Jeff ! Am I glad to see you on here after you said you abandonned KS fort 30 min ago lol
Aaaah so this is where all of my favorite weresheeps have gone to! Hello all and let us enjoy our 2 years here, before Swen makes new kickstarter for Divinity 3! Then we will all hang out there.
Hey all, just got my ride to backer after KS is done, which makes my Paypal backer Haven't played D:OS though, but I believe backing this would do me a worth while. I'm waiting for D:OS EE now!! Woot!!
Hi guys. Good to see you all again. I'm so hyped for EE. Played D:OS for about 15 hours, but stopped when I heard what the EE had in store. Maybe we should get a backers game up and running.
When the pledge management page is set up in a couple weeks, there will likely be an option there to enter your forum email address, and then a script will be run a few times to get the email from the Larian Vault site and enable the forum badge on your account here.
Morning Everyone, looking forward to reading pages and pages of posts from you guys here instead of on KS every morning. Nice to see Jeff popping in, would be great to see the other guys and gals from Larian pop in now and then! xD
P.S. I miss Char's weather updates already *sniff*
Behold! It is I! Magnifico the Magnifi...err that doesn't work.
Behold! It is I! BM from Kickstarter or BCM70 from Twitch! Lord of Bayswater (Postcode 6054) and Purveyor of Exclamation Marks and Other Fine Punctuation!!!!111!

Well on bright side, Star citizen will be probably complete in just the right time for me (it will take me at least a year before I buy some gaming PC).
On other note: Wow much alive here, I thought that after KS ended I would finally focus at work on work, but it doesn't look like it.
Guys I have a question. I have already got email"Your pledge to Divinity: Original Sin 2 has been collected!", but I still have all the money on my bank account. Is it a problem or it just takes some time?
I've added my Steam ID to my signature so feel free to add me. Though I only got 1/5 people's name right yesterday cause you all have bloody different usernames from KS!
Aw, Jeff! That's a great article! I'm happy we were able to make it so much fun for you. You were a star in the comment section, and we were glad to have you!
Great blog post from Jeff. goes to show how much passion people working at Larian have for the company, the games they produce and the community around them
Hey folks! Char here - heading to work on some characters and stories and relationships for the afternoon. Kickstarter was so much fun for us, thanks for all your support, enthusiasm and presence. I hope to be around here in the forums a good bit over the next while

Hi Char! @The Penguin K1d was just saying he missed your daily weather updates, and now you are here! :DDDDDDDDDD
Lovely article by Jeff (norD). Don't know why he would hate his accent in English so much - I think I speak for many native English-speakers when I say a Quebecois accent is a very attractive one (don't get a big head though, Jeff, else The Hat won't fit!).

Kai, We've already been exchanging pics on Twitter!
I've already been told by the other half that the Steam winter sale is now off limits as I pledged too much
I haven't admitted to my other half how much I pledged. I suspect I may get a Look.
Unfortunately the one who knows all (so I'm told anyway), erm... knows all. The good news was that she was not in a bad mood as my pledge also means she gets to play her first DOS game

Hail my Queen! It's good to know that you are already working on character relationship. It's one of the most important things that I look for in games (probably because I GM pen&paper RPGs for many years)!

Awesome. On the plus side the worst I'll get is a rolleyes, but sadly she's not really much into games. Other than Machinarium, which she loved.
Just read your post too. Defiantly there is nothing wrong with your accent, I used to be in a multi-region clan and we all understand and respect each other and know what they are saying, we had so much fun together and learning everyones background and so on!
Well I haven't joined any of these communities but RPGCodex blow their rockets when they hear the word "romance" let me say it again but a sexier way "romance" *winks, bite lips* and now *hides behinds box*
Though they are both great (I'm a leech) they also know whats, what and they do not generally get mean, if they do they just want some brofists :P
Again thanks for your blog, it just reminds me of me :P
I also learned are thing or two when I was giving feedback when D:OS was on alpha, I was looking what I want to see but not what the game needs to make the players have a better experience. I helped allot it was also my first time giving feedback to a early access game because I saw how much love and dedication have put into this game, and I knew it will have many awards even a game of the year awards.
So, do I want to keep sinning for the sequel, hell yes I cannot wait to give my support again when alpha hits, that is why I want to be part of the kickstarter this time because I want to be part of this loving community
Hello Char! Almost everyone is here, now we only miss Devins and Swen =)
p.s. Right now I'm at work so I canï½´t look at my steam tag, but would you guys mind if I would add you on steam later? I need as many friends as has man with many cheeses! ( right now none of my friends play these games anymore :-( )

Of course.
Devin and Char dropped by earlier. And of course Jeff is everywhere.

I can't believe I'm just reading this. It was a great blog from Jeff But honestly I think that whole merge thing could have happened to anyone. The implied message was merging their funds only; yay context clues.. I'm gonna miss Jeff's many hours in the comment section. I also still think a little throw back to DDoD vs norD in DOS2 would be awesome, like an easter egg or something at least!

I'm rather enjoying the cheese obsession going on in this topic. You can never have too much cheese. ... looks down at waistline ... Okay, maybe that's not technically true, but y'know.
Edit: moved another bunch of people into the regular users' group. Just yell if anyone's been missed.

He he, that happened to me also on the last kickstater, I ended up giving the same amount as the number of the beast to the kickstarter.. My wife wasn't too happy
I still gave quite much now (even though I will get all Larian games for free for the next 8-9 years), as there was some items I really wanted

He he, that happened to me also on the last kickstater, I ended up giving the same amount as the number of the beast to the kickstarter.. My wife wasn't too happy
I still gave quite much now (even though I will get all Larian games for free for the next 8-9 years), as there was some items I really wanted
PLOT TWIST The game will suck.
Nah seriously I donated less but not that much, so I clearly am expecting something phenomenal :p
Just read norD's blog post. It's always nice to hear how devs feel about stuff and in this case I think the devs felt pretty much the same as we fans: that the KS campaign was really a lot of fun, very exhausting, but also very rewarding.
But I think it's also worth to mention that the end of the KS doesn't mean the end of the community. We're still here and I can guarantee that once the game goes live on Early Access on Steam (which is pretty much a given thing) the feedback of the community will rise again.
Only one tipp: if you want to see a really nice community, that can criticize the game heavily but almost always in a civilized way, you have to stay away from the Steam forums and concentrate your presence here, Jeff. No matter how well acclaimed or beloved a developer or a certain game is, negativity is a given thing on the Steam forums in my experience (also with DOS)....
@krist2 Hey, mate, how's going? Sheep are healthy?
Edit: If sb wants to add me on Steam, my nick is lordcrash88
Jeff the stalker... ugh. :P He can teleport everywhere he wishes!
It's the hat I'm telling you!
Y'know, I just realised something:
What if the hat isn't an ordinary hat? What if it's a parasitic hat which implants some creature or magical force into your brain, which controls you to do things against your will?
Btw, why is the elf in your KS avatar so grumpy? :p
Got a stupid question... How will I be recognized as a KS backer by Larian?
Hey Zarax! If you mean the Backer Badge, Raze had this to say -

Hi, from what I understand as soon as they get all the pledges, they create backer site, then there will be survey and we will be able to link our forum account to the pledge. Should take few weeks max. Am I right Jeff?

Hi All First timer on these forums here as well. What a great Kickstarter! Larian thank you so much for the great 24hr stream. Enjoyed being part of it.
Looking forward to DoS.EE later this month. I know you will do a great job on DoS2.
Stephen checking in on the forums and see how things are here. It's not like I've got Kickstarter withdrawal symptoms or anything. Heck no! *eyetwitch*

Wow, I just woke up, as usual, went to KS, just a small 50 more comments and then I came here, 93 comments on this exact topic. I guess everyone moved here as expected! It warms my heart so much to see all the comment concerning my blog post, haha. I got a message on wordpress saying that "my blog was booming". For sure it was, didn't expected that!

I won't comment on that a lot but, I've worked at Ubisoft for 10 years. If it would have been THAT bad, I wouldn't have stayed there that long Thanks for reading my post!
Speaking of accents (as Jeff mentioned his in his blog), I realised today that I am unable to think the word "Kickstarter" without it sounding in my head with a Flemish accent. Clearly I have been indoctrinated by the many hours of Swen's videos and Twitch streams ;-) I wonder how many times Swen actually said the word "Kickstarter" in the last 35 days....? I'm thinking "a lot" ;-)

Maybe we should have a sort of accent roster so everyone knows what everyone else sounds like! Especially people like me who are allergic to Skype/TeamSpeak etc (I'm a Geordie, for the record).
ObCheese: mature cheddar. Arguably not an especially innovative choice, but it's Teh Best(tm).

1st: Kickstarter backer badge for DOS 2nd: Dragon badge for donating $95+ for DOS 3rd: Developer badge for donating $135+ for DOS 4th: Weresheep badge for donating extra $6 for DOS

Agreed.
Find myself visiting the page every hours. Complusively.
Do you know if there will be new badges now with this kickstarter? I would love to have some!
From KS page, $25 tier description:
Quote
Divine Dibs
Divinity: Original Sin 2 as a digital download for PC, available from Steam with Alpha and Beta access included, or DRM-free from GOG.com. Also comes with a Digital Game Manual, a 'Backer' Forum Badge and behind-the-scenes footage.
-> ... a 'Backer' Forum Badge ...
This time everyone gets the same badge though, no matter how much money you've pledged. Communism! (I blame Studio Russia)...
So, I'm a last 2 days backer and glad we reached DM mode, to be franck.
I miss NeverWinter Nights and its DM mode. I don't think we have had any such mode on any game ever since.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Larian is gonna come up with on this front. Hopefully, they'll start by NWN1, which was easy to use. That's the key thing, here: easy. If you need to be a pro computer artist to be able to modify something, that won't work IMHO.
@krist2 Hey, mate, how's going? Sheep are healthy?
The sheep are healthy yes, and the sheep and lambs have just come back from their summer pasture in the mountains. So now most of the lambs will go to become food.. Always a little strange, but that's how it is . Atleast they are high qulity as they just have eaten milk, grass and different herbs and berries in the mountains. So almost totally natural

Yeah, just finally (after such a long time) finished my study, looking forward to what comes next.
But once, I'm hungry now. Lamb would be cool (why, oh why?)...
Can't find anything in my account settings. Oh well. Thanks for the help
Go to "My Stuff" -> "Edit Profile"
It should appear between "Verify Password" and "Your Birthday" as "Group images to display".
If it's not there, send a PM to Raze so that he can link you correctly to your DOS pledge on KS.
Nothing there, but I just realised that I backed D:OS on PayPal (with just $1 on KS so I could comment etc), so I probably used a diff e-mail after all. Which one though? - that is the question ;-)
New to the forums but reading for a long time. Backed D:OS, sadly never played to the end but can't wait for the EE so I can make that finally happen. Now that I backed D:OS2 it seems a good time to show myself here. So here I am ;)
Yo everyone CoffeeGhoul here, excited to get a look at the enhanced edition soon. Anyone know how to change or add an avatar? This grey face just isn't me...

You'll need to wait for one of the moderators. They'll grant you access.
Somewhere in the "My Stuff" tab iirc. Haven't been on here on a computer yet (just mobile) so not entirely sure. I think it's toward the bottom of one of the sub pages.
Edit: and what Raven said. Need to gain user access too. Shouldn't take too long though, Mods have been very on top of their game!

I'm exhausted and (about ) to head to bed.. Boo for last minute cleaning because some of the SO's family is staying with us this weekend for ACL.. The one thing about her family I'll never get used to.. Everyone just last minutes "hey! I'mma stay with you guys!" It's apparently a highly accepted practice in their family, heh
Hey guys! I've gotta say, as much as I loved the KS comments, it's way easier to catch up on missed stuff in a forum. XD I've had a really busy week, so I'm looking forward to just chilling this weekend. (It's 5pm here in Japan! Weekend begins!)
Also, hey LordCrash, I looked for you on Steam and your username didn't come up.
Hi people. I think there is waayy too much spam here and i'd want to ask you to please refrain from posting so much or else I'll feel obligated to call in a moderator.
Naaaah kidding ! I'm just way too tired. My company threw a party last night, probably much like Larian's, except on a houseboat on the Seine. I have no idea how it went though, I was stuck alone at work having to finish something for the next day ( I wouldn't have gone anyway. )

Yep, wallet is really taking a hit. So far have backed D:OS2, Dwarves and Battletech in the last month
Worse thing is I'm still looking for others to back
Edit: Added the quote
Yeah, I hear that. I'm backing The Others: 7 Sins board game and it's taking a sizable chunk of my money. It would be better if the BattleTech jacket didn't look so nice and Christmas wasn't more or less around the corner. I'm veeeery tempted to back. I've never even played, but I really like robots and turn-based strategy games.

Last day before the weekend so that's good. Hope I find the time to play some Baldurs Gate, need to finish that game before the EE comes out.
@LordW Ah yes, a new Bond movie this year, great news. I hope the new Star Wars is any good.
Yes weekend finally! Don't you mean to say play EE of baldurs gate before they release new expansion?? I myself will try to finish Divinity 2 (after 2 moths... so little time to game now.. :-( )
About star wars, I hope it will be good because Disney will be choking us with so many films from that universe that it would be pity if I didn't want to watch it.

Great to see you all here. Its important that just because the kickstarter has ended we maintain the community. You guys have been great and it was a pleasure to get to know you over the campaign.
Although heavily involved in the campaign, I was more lurker then commenter I admit. But I was addicted to the comment section like most of the guys here at Larian.
Hope to hang out a bit more now that the campaign has ended and the development is starting in full swing!

It's Friday, anyone got any plans for the weekend?
I'm heading to London to watch he NFL International game!
I'm extremely jealous! I *really, really* wanted to go last year, as my team (Minnesota Vikings) were playing, but tickets went before I even manged to log in. Didn't even try this year. Hope you have an absolute blast

Thanks. Yeah I went last year to the Lions @ Falcons game, what a game it was!
Yup Siege of Dragonspear its timeline should be somewhere between BG1 and BG2. I was a little skeptical about this, but they send playable copy to Chris Avellone and he said that he was pleasantly surprised by quality of that game. So... *fingers crossed*
So I could still back Torment? Even some of the physical tiers if I would wish?.. Wow then I hope they will keep that possibility up for another month (I badly need next paycheck )

Yes, the collector's edition is available for grabs.

Dublin weather is very mild. We have a mild spring in May, June and July, a mild autumn in August, September and October), and a mild winter (meaning dark, damp and miserable) between November and April.

Well Wales has been very nice over the last few weeks. I think that's all about to change come Monday however!
A question. Got D:OS on steam. Can't decide for D:OS 2 between steam and gog. Will the second part of the game also drm-free like part one? Don't know why, but like gog more and more.

No the regular version of BG1(not EE) from GOG. Never played it before but had it for ages in my library. Played BG2 when it came out, was the game that really got me into rpg's, since then I almost don't play anything else. But not enough time to play them all, major backlog.
Yeah if Star Wars isn't good they will rub it in our face for years. I so badly need a good SW movie.

Anybody knows if Larian will sell a box with all there older games(pre D:OS)? I thought they did something last kickstarter but I missed it. Maybe a good idea for all the new backers to get to know the lore and story behind the series...and a way to support Larian some more...

Nice idea i would appreciate it also, there could be also documentary about how they made those games (i mean something more in depth than it was in theirs 24 twitch stream :-))
There was a Divinity Anthology.. with soundtracks My colleagues brought me a copy from their meeting with Larian devs and now it's proudly sitting on my shelf

That's what I mean, looked at the Larian vault but they don't sell it anymore. Hope they bring it back. I could buy them separately but if they bundle it with a soundtrack and some extra info about the studio or the process of making the games that would be sweet. Even digital only would be enough.
The store function of the Larian Vault was shut down earlier this year, due to changes in the tax laws in the EU. Now there are only Steam and Humble widgets to buy games.

The only reason the norDs had gained such ground was to lure DOoDs away from the truth with the promise of cookies. (Chocolate chip to be exact.)

Not even the promise of homemade chocolate chip cookies was enough to question my faith.
Ah. Work is caught up and I am sitting at my desk/work command center with a hot bowl of soup. Not a good combo to have open liquids near computers, but...eh. I have about a foot and a half of distance from the nearest keyboard if I do happen to spill.

I understand their pain. It's too bothersome to leave your work desk just to eat.
To work the last 3 hours or to take up my coworker's offer to go home early... e_e
Depends. What makes you look better, and how long have you been working? Is the extra three hours worth delaying your weekend, or is it just sitting at your desk doing make-work jobs?
At the GDC talk in March, it was stated that the budget for D:OS was over 4.5M Euro, not including everything that was being invested in the Enhanced Edition. Two or three times that for D:OS 2 seems reasonable, but I have no idea what the actual budget is.
I finally got the time to read Jeff s blog post about kickstarter campaign and there is some interesting info. Im quoting here "Im already looking forward for the next one." (he was talking about kickstarter)... so that mean that he confirmed that there will be another kickstarter! Divinity 3 here we come!
and i have no problem to go through all the joy of a third kickstarter campaign as long as larian stays true to their spirit and doesnt get too greedy :P

Well plus the KS and PayPal funds, should be quite a bit then for OS2. I'm looking forward to the Ee and the alpha.
Well after that company's little night in a boathouse I didn't attend because A/ I was working hard >< B/ I never planned to go anyway ; I made the mistake of accepting to host a colleague who was attending for the night. Guy arrived at 4am, got lost in Paris :p And I had an important meeting at 9am. Needless to say my Friday was... Not very productive
So anyway long version short, I slept for 17 hours straight the next night :p and here I am ! #MyLifeIsSoCool
I missed some talk of the Brotherhood, from the brotherhood, to the brotherhood ! I feel bad. I shall update my sig' in repentance.

You crazy man. It's not linked at all, haha. Like Swen and us answered in the AMA, 100% of the focus is on D:OS2 now. But I cross my finger for another KS in the future. That was a lot of fun ^__^

I thought 100% of the focus was on DOS EE until it's released...

Crazy? Noooo.... i fully believe that you guys can make DoS 2 and also start producing another great game! In Swen we trust!
BTW that blog was really nice, could you maybe write a little bit more about your experience at ubisoft? I really would like to read that.
I finally went and wrote that comment I wanted to do 2 days ago on your blog, Jeff! Phew, that's done. Long live the week ends for giving me enough spare time =)
And this is completely irrelevant to all things Larian, but I wanted to say I finally beat Batman : Arkham Knight with 100% completion. Which happens to be mandatory for getting the real, true ending.
Man those Riddler trophies are devinitely annoying.
Now I can either start getting to bed early or playing something else ! =)

Was not Batman terrible annoying to beat with 100% completion? I heard it is quite a chore.
p.s. Last game i finished was Witcher 3 a few months ago, then i started in a new job and since then iï½´m trying to finish Divinity 2... need more holidays :-(
Man man nothing has changed you peeps talk still soooo much. Reading through it all right now xD so I'm back up to speed haha. Just registered on Discord. Looks pretty cool. Anyway back to reading!

@QuoteStar You're in Japan? Oh man =( you're so lucky! I miss it so damn much !

Totally is. Even more in this episode I felt. Arkham Asylum is still my favorite out of the three because of the more intimate setting, the much more pronounced Metroidvania inspiration, and the fact the Riddler riddles were varied and not very annoying, while at the same time being a bit challenging.
In City there were like 200 trophies, the "riddles" ( the best part imho, which is scanning the environnement to find a reference to the Batman universe, based on a riddle, like "Its far from PURRFECT, but she calls it home". The answer will be finding Catwoman's home and taking a picture of it ) were challenging but still visible. The trophies though were a real grind : they literally covered the map and you'd need all tech to be able to get them. Fortunately they were still easy to spot.
In Origins... Let's forget about Origins shall we? It was just a lesser City. Nothing new, a complete grind with a bad story and bad storytelling, they even succeeded in messing up the combat system while not adding anything relevant to it.
And Knight, at last : 243 trophies/riddles/etc before you could summon the Riddler. Riddles are on the verge of pixel hunting, small things hidden in an otherwise ultra detailled environnement ; trophies are somehow hard to spot, there are now races, batmobiles challenges... Yeah it's kind of a chore. Even unlocking all the locations on the map is slightly more annoying. Not to mention that in order to reach 100% you also have to complete ALL secondary missions, and there are, like, MANY, with varying degrees of frustrations and difficulty. Frak you, you tank mayhem missions. I had to go back to the goold ol' mouse to be reactive and accurate enough to beat them.
Knight really has a great story and storytelling though.

Huh, question for those who saw the Martian. Are there any references to someone loosing their father in the movie ?
I was planning to watch it with my buddy, but he just lost his father to the floodings in France, so, yeah, you know, I think it would be a bad idea to try and cheer him up with a movie that could even remotely hint at that drama.

You are incredibly considerate...I don't know whether there are any references to a father though. Haven't seen it yet. But as someone that has lost his father earlier this year...even the smallest details will remind him of that event. It's something...that I'd say changes you. In any case...I thank you already for him to be so foreseeing. You're a good man. Hopefully someone else will be able to give you a better answer.

Hey Dr Koin. I saw the film the other day. I think you're pretty safe in that regard. It is a real rollercoaster of emotions, but I struggle to remember anything about a parent or guardian passing in the book and film.
P.s. hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm still in London after watching the NFL here.

Thanks for the kind words. As this is the story of a man isolated on Mars, one may fear the character will come back to Earth only to learn of his relatives' passing - it happens in quite a few SciFi movies I won't name in order to avoid spoilers !

Thanks for the answer, Pen' ! It should safe to watch then. We'll see whenever he comes back, if he feels like it.
It's really sad when you read stuff about Ubisoft and people almost never differentiate between the people who work for the company and their personal opinion about the games or even only some very top-level management decisions. Many people sadly fail to see that probably 99% of all people working at Ubisoft just want to create the best games possible and that criticizing the studio in the way it's often done on the internet must really hurt them. It became really "en vogue" in the past few years to just literally bash everything Ubisoft, on a level even Activision never experienced. It must be really a nice breath of fresh air for you to actually see people on the internet to appreciate the stuff for and the company you work in for sure...
everytime i read stuff like this im more and more convinced that i really like to do this and continue to try hard to also one day be part of a family like this and create stuff right out of your brain for everyone to see dive into it so hard that you live what you do... i really enjoy creating art and especially games art... all you people here and companies like larian really make me go deeper and deeper into it until it just happens :P

Yes, it's sad that the workers, dev, designers, artists, wanting to make a good game, are pushed to create games that are ultimately seen as "crap" by the community... Sometimes because it's true, but most often because of a strong bias. I was a big fan of Ubisoft for having some heart and the will to do things properly, but, one day, they started lying to the players - you know, the infamous visual downgrade of Watch_dogs, or the ultra-faked screenshots, the fake promises, etc. The leaders, the marketing guys, or some guys even above, decided they had to follow in Activision/EA footprints and start putting more of the money in advertising and marketing around a game, rather than in the actual game. The last Ubisoft game I genuinely enjoyed was AC3. The heart and love poured into the game was real. The passion to recreate History, to take the time needed to tell a story, having almost half the game voiced in Native languages, a lot of innovative gameplay elements... But the public dismissed it because the hero was bland and a "looser". Obivously he was going to be. How could a Native/English guy could even have a chance in the post-independance colonies of America ? It was sad. I had a thought for the writers and researchers and designers. But yeah, then came forth the era of WD and AC4, and all the sh!t they started to put together. I won't lie, the society, the name, deserved it. However, sh!t falls downward, not upward. And so it's the workers who take the blame.
Well, I still think AC Revelations was the best AC Ubisoft ever made. And AC3 was the last really good one.
The main "design failure" of all their big games since was that they desinged their worlds almost on a mathematical level. X chests, X quests, X towers, X activities. While their previous games were all about the narrative, their newer games are all about always the same old formulaic open world design. While everything has an insane production value the whole thing feels all too often ultimately heartless and less and less unique. In the end, that game design is a victim of its own success. It worked so well for Ubisoft that they apply it on pretty much every big game they made - for the last 5-5 years or so, basically since AC 3/4 and FC 3. That stuff just sells too well so there is no incentive to change the basic formula. Pouring heart and new design approches into it only threatens the economic success and has naturally a hard stand - especially if you think about the insanely short production times, only possible by the ton of people who work simultaneously on the titles.
So it's no surprise that in terms of world and game design, AC, Watch_Dogs and Far Cry are pretty much all the same and that The Division and the new Ghost Recon game will turn out pretty similar as well. It's all Ubisoft being imprisoned in the endless sequel loop of something that once turned out to be the ultimate AAA formula...
Thanks for link Jeff. I must say that it was quite interesting read, mostly i enjoyed Swens approach to interviews ... what did your talk of Dungeon and Dragons consist of? Rules, worlds, narrative, world design??

Hey, I actually 100% agree for once =) Nah, 99%. I skipped Revelations but I really liked Brotherhood myself. Oh well...
It's really weird being however many hours ahead of most of you. Everyone's all "oh man Monday morning!" And here I am on Monday night just chilling on the internet.

We we basically talking about rules. He also asked me what was my favorite edition and since I haven't played 5e we were comparing ^__^. We also talked a lot about Pathfinder because this is the ruleset I'm using right now with my buddies.
Well good afternoon from hearth of the Europe! This Monday is so hectic I almost forgot to check forums today :-D, its good to see everyone is doing ok, I myself am little tired (mostly mentally) and cant wait for end of the week ( there will be weekend full of gaming, or I will be writing my final thesis, cant decide :-/ ).
BTW I am thinking of buying new chair to sit on during my PC time, any ergonomic tips?? (p.s. im not going to spend 1 000 dollars on chair )
I have very bad posture when it comes to sitting in front of the computer. I look like Gollum. Crouched and hunched on my keyboard. Sometimes (often) bleary eyed with a huge cup of tea next to me (that may or may not have been spilt before).
Oh god I've been on the prowl for a good chair for so long ... I'm ready to throw some precious money in what I'd consider my most useful piece of furniture. Even looking at the chairs we've got at work but when I first read they cost 500€ I was kind of ... not as motivated to get one. Now I'm completely ready to put that money in a freaking chair, I'm tired of having my back hurts and buying a new cheap one every year =)

Dayum, it was considered the worst of the Ezio series and of the AC series so I skipped it. Heh, opinion of the masses. So maybe it wasn't that bad actually ? My whole world is rocked. Is DA2 good too? :o

You listen to the masses? And then you played AC 3 and even liked Connor (so did I, by the way...). Something is wrong with that narrative of yours...

Depends on what you value most, I guess. For me, it's storytelling aka the narrative. And Revelations was easily one of the best or THE best AC game in terms of narrative imo. Also the gameplay was right down my alley. Best tools and a lot of these "platforming" elements. And on top, best outfit of an Assassin in any AC game ever.
Last year I allowed myself a rather luxurious office chair which was quite expensive (finest nappa leather, hand-sewn!). Well, purchasing it for my own little business I knew it was tax-deductible.
However, I'd recommend to everyone not to save on the wrong things - a good office chair is worth the money.
I all depends on when I can jump into the fray :p By the time I could afford some spare time to try Revelations, it was already labelled bad, so I skipped it. AC3 I was hyped by myself from the beginning and knew I'd played it ! Same for DA2 after all ! Reviews were so overwhelmingly negative I decided no to spend tens of hours playing it. It's often about "do I have time to play this?" if not sure "Is it at least a good game?" if not "I guess I'll skip it for now ( which sadly often turns as being forever )"

Oh yes, absolutely. Which is why I dont' want a shitty chair anymore =)

Yeah, they are pretty great. We have the 2nd one on the website, the black chairs.
I have a preference for any kind of black tea, and rooibos second. I'm not very fond of green. I found myself a real love for smoked black teas as well as spiced teas. And a good rooibos or infusion can always do good by me. Yeah I think I can drink any type of tea. With a preference for black, then.
Actually I'm pretty sure that if Vometia likes shoes and has a lot of them, I like tea and have a lot of them... =)

Covering all the bases? :P
I am very much into black tea myself. (@Lord_MacLeod has you beat on decribing his love of tea though.)
The dilemma...On one hand, we are compatible in tea preference. On another you are a norD. Decisions, decisions. Lol.
Well if there is discussion about tea I must jump right in! I myself like to drink almost all kinds, white, green, oolong, black, pu erh (must be in mood for some earth taste) and from herbal teas I love rooibos the most! cool rooibos with some home made honey.... yummy!
p.s. right now I have my fourth refill of Twinings green tea (I mostly drink loose tea but im still at work :-/ )

But seriously, get out and buy a bunch of tea to try. And not the teabag type, real proper loose tea.
Oh, I didn't mention that. But it just is OBVIOUS, for us people of good faith, that in NO WAY teabag-lipton-like tea can ever be considered as genuine.
I don't know that expression; yes, the colour is pale yellow, but oolong-tea is something between black and green tea.
Maybe it's a french thing only ? We classify tea by "colours", so Black, GReen are the most common, but then come Red ( often considered as Rooibos even if it's a little different ), Blue, White, Yellow. White is essentially tea buds if I recall correctly, while Blue is Oolong ( more or less ). Yellow is a more refined Green : it's a very, very costy tea claimed to have been the tea of the Emperors ( hence the color, since Yellow was the imperial color ).

No, tea by color is worldwide. But the Blue and Yellow could be a French thing. Oolong is as far as I know, black (sometimes classified as black/green tea).
I myself don't dabble in Coffee at all, like, at all :p I'm a terrible host : no alcohol, no coffee ! A chance nobody ever comes at my place.
That's one way to keep people from visiting. You do that on purpose, don't you? xD
What ! No ! Why would I ... Oh well who am I kidding. It's a bit of both =) And since my cats don't drink coffee either ( hint: they don't need it. Little shits. )

We'll need to figure out his address first. We can't be two crazy people knocking on random doors in Paris. We do know that he lives near a Mariage Freres.
I hadn't received any news from Swen regarding that date. Often, sellers like Best Buy and Amazon throw dates out of the blue so I had no will to confirmed something not even confirmed to me by Swen or anyone taking care of that here at Larian. I've learned it myself 2 or 3 days ago when our official D:OS facebook posted a message saying that the game was releasing for Xbone and PS4 on October 27th.
"Not the best but since there is shop 10m from my home, it's good." .... and we know that there is a Tea shop 10 meters from his home. Now we need to find all tea shops near Mariage Freres and we are there! (it will be only two crazy people knocking on all doors near tea shops)

Lol. I can live with that.
We have to be subtle about it or he might see us coming down the street from his window. He might runaway. (We don't sound like a couple of stalkers. Not at all.)

Well that depends... we could ask someone to keep him busy on chat so he wouldnï½´t notice, maybe... Jeff? Stalkers? Nooo i thought more of a " Hey what a nice suprise, you live here? *One grabs him and other one looks for that tea* "
Looking at this comment, maybe the FDA should have tea pulled from the market. It seems to create unwanted behavior.

Hello everyone again! I know, I am late to the party and I am really sorry for being rather absent from here for the last couple of days... Sometimes RL events just take over ;-)
Anyway, I hope you all are doing fine and have already had a few in detail discussing about cheese (i'll try to catch up with the 24 pages of comments ;-)
If you can at least make a decent milk share, I'll maybe visit you one day, Koin...
A friend of mine who lived in the US claims we, French, do not know how to make a proper Milkshake I guess I'll have to dig some recipes !

Is this still about tea? I mostly just drink Assam, or stuff that tastes like Assam, such as English breakfast. With milk and sugar, so there. Albeit skimmed milk and fake sugar, since I'm diabetic.
I probably drink much more coffee though, previously made with the amusingly-named Isomac Tea espresso machine. But it's unwell so we bought one of those newfangled Nespresso pod machines and now have a bucket-load of spent coffee podlets to send off for recycling. Because actually getting round to it would imply some degree of organisation that we seem to be incapable of.

I'm not only incapable of good organisation, I'm also much too lazy to actually make me my coffee myself (the good one). So I spend a lot more on good coffee in various spots around the city than I probably should...

Ah! I have a "Special T" machine myself. It was a gift I really wasn't very eager to get, as I prefer to make my tea myself.

One of the rare things I liked about my years working in London: much money was spent and many calories were consumed in coffee shops because you can't have just a coffee, not with all those cakes on offer too. After all these years of agoraphobia-induced coffee shop avoidance I'm still trying to lose the weight I gained!

That's a curious beastie, and quite frightening for someone who considers even a teabag in a mug to be the height of decadence (because tea should of course always be brewed using loose leaves in a heavy ceramic pot, etc... can't remember when I last did that!)
such a chair would make a good christmas investment for me i guess...
I don't think I've ever heard of things called Christmas "investments" before. I'll have to try that one on my gf to see if it increases my chances of getting the random expensive thing I want!
I don't know.... Somehow I find it still "not pricey enough" to be truly reliable, ESPECIALLY for "gaming" product as they tend to be overpriced just for getting the tag "gamer". I know I'll be looking at a 500+ executive armchair myself, like what was linked on page 20 or so. Pricey, true, but I believe that's the cost of safekeeping my back =)

I've been forgetting to bring my tea at work for almost two weeks in a row. Since I don't drink coffee and suffers from severe insomnia, I THINK I'm starting to die, or something.

I also regularly experience The Joy of Insomnia: what fun! Coffee doesn't really seem to make a lot of difference one way or the other. Sleeping drugs help somewhat, but make me a really miserable cow, so I prefer not to...

I'll leave everything to my male cat, Poopoo.
I don't like coffee either and prefer tea instead Right now, however, my favourite drink is Beechams flu plus hot berry fruits paracetamol-phenylephrine tea... (that stuff sounds really iniquitous, doesn't it)
Tea can't keep me awake. My body is already wired to "Oh! You are drinking tea? Time to relax."
Same... I fear i may be living on the threshold already thanks to redbull / tea / vitamin, so I'm merely riding that threshold whenever i drink or eat something that should dispense energy. Deep under, i'm probably already a walking corpse ! Undead origin plz.
I'm also in the boat of needing coffee to keep me awake. However, I thought I was drinking regular caffeinated coffee for years when I was living at home with my folks. Turns out I had been drinking decaff the entire time (damn placebo). Now I actually need caffeinated coffee to stay up.
Hehe, that is really funny^^ - when I drink coffee I usually start to feel quite sleepy^^ I guess it is all the question of being used to tea/coffee
Same happens to me. At a guess, it's maybe because I have ADHD, and stimulants tend to make me feel slightly more calm and collected (by which I mean legit ones like caffeine and Ritalin!)
Well when I was drinking coffee than I was first 30 minutes like "Wohooo lets do it!" and after that... "Let me sleep..." This problem quite escalated during exams at university, when I was trying not to sleep for two days and learn as much stuff as I can... oh my I think my record was something like 12 coffes in about 8 hours and after exam I felt that I could die any minute.... aaah memories.
Ye we should have a tea and coffee vendor in DoS 2! Tea would be sold by typical imperial Britt (strong English accent, feeling superior than the others) and coffee would be sold by Spaniard ? (seriously which nation has strong coffee history? )... and you could add it to crafting... combine boiling water, with tea and cup and you would get a great refreshment or coffee with boiling water and you would get + 1 to move on turn
Anybody has good ideas for Vendor lines for them??
[seriously which nation has strong coffee history?
Definitely the Turks, and then I'd go for Austria (Vienna-style coffee houses).
Yup so imperial Britt for tea and Aussie for coffee and they could have a strong hatred toward each other and would promote their choice of drink whatever the cost!
hmm, different tea blends available for crafting in-game anyone? As a tribute to this thread?
Well that's exactly what I mean! And not only because of our discussion, but because it is classy and DoS 2 will be classy game. Plus can you imagine all the possible crafting recipes? One tea type would give you some bonus different completely another and you could try to mix them together. And what would happen if you mix tea and coffee? Explosion.
I remember absent-mindedly making coffee with the tea I'd just brewed. It wasn't very nice, though I suspect that a large part of it was simply that the result was unexpected. Then again, the fact that is isn't a thing suggests that it's genuinely not very pleasant.
Talking of which, one of the worst chocolates I've eaten was courtesy of the usually excellent Chocolate Tasting Club. Apparently everyone told the chairman "no! That's a really terrible idea!" but he insisted it was a fantastic idea, so the thyme chocolate became a thing. It was awful. The only chocolate I've tasted that was even worse is Hershey's, which is sort of vomit-flavoured.
I've occasionally tried all day drinking when it comes to beer but I tend to fall asleep after five or six pints.

Lucky you ! I can barely manage one. I used to love good beers with parcimony, but one day, out of the godamn blue, taking just ONE sip would give me unpleasant nauseas. Now, I can re-drink a select few, but rarely more than a half pint before I start feeling unpleasant again.
Never knew why, but it was a sad day when this phenomenon started!
p.s. You didn't confirm that you will pitch Tea and Coffee vendor idea directly to the Swen, can we count on you??
Uservoice this!
Will do!
Well.... im at work so I try to keep my illegal activity only here on forum, but when I will get home I shall do it! If I don't fall asleep first, that is...

Yes finally! There will be good cyberpunk game! And huge one at that, i hope they push stories and themes pretty far. (cyberpunk is much darker than witcher 3 so i cant wait to see what they will show us).
Ehm sorry stupid letters here of course i mean Cyberpunk and not Ã¥ÂÅ“berpunk
You know that you can edit posts here easily?
I'm looking foward to Cyberpunk as well. Finally a game CDPR has enough creative freedom for. Should fit them well. But even bigger than TW3? Well, I don't really like the sound of that tbh...
Didn't prevent me from resuming my Ori and the Blind Forest playthrough. What a magnificent game. I'm trying to stream it but it's always very hard to get the controller working properly. I'm better off running a cracked version of the game so that I can fully close Steam in order to prevent it from interfering with my xbox pad "simulator". Always have to try 3 or 4 times before it works though. But once it does, the game works flawlessly !

You must go easy on yourself... you need energy to play all the great games! But true you need money for the computer, desk, chair... ideally about 3000 bucks for all and then you need some food to sustain you, rent, car.... omg I must stay at work also.....
Ori and Blind forest, those are platformers right? I saw something on them but not sure if any good. Could you tell me why do you think its good?
Fortunately I don't have a car, so it's cool :p I do have two evil cats, demanding human sacrifices on a daily basis, though. And my rent is almost as devilish... Speaking of which I suddenly remember i must pay it.
"Ori and the Blind Forest" is a metroid / metroidvania ( heh, we were debating the meaning of "RPG" in another thread but metroidlike / metroidvania is even more unfathomable ), it features gorgeous 2D graphics with a truly beautiful soundtrack.
The game itself doesn't seem that hard so far, which I think help making it relaxing. I like the agility of Ori, which makes simply running through the map satisfying.
At first I thought there were just too much visual effects, but it actually isn't annoying at all.
Sadly I'm overworking myself so much that I find it hard to stay up this late these days.
Seriously, don't do that. My 20s saw me quite seriously overworking, and I hated it, but y'know, I was young and indestructible. Until I wasn't. I've been in ill health ever since...
Ori and the Blind Forest looks so darn' pretty, but it's really not my kind of thing these days (plus, I don't have an XBox...)
It's on PC too I don't really do consoles. I have a dusty PS3 somewhere, I guess. That's why I struggled to make the gamepad work correctly, though. The game only correctly recognizes xbox 360 controllers... But the genre itself calls for a pad rather than keyboard I think.

I don't really have a choice, and, well, it's not really that I overwork - it's rather that I'm being forced to work at hours that don't came naturally to me. My supervisor is not understanding of that fact and trying to set me up with early morning meetings and stuff. Now to understand why our Japanese staff member ( who lives and works with us in France ) got a free pass and nobody tells him nothing when he begin his day in the afternoon...

That sucks, I've worked for people who tend their staff like crap too. I know how you feel sir!

I've worked for supervisors like that and could rant all day about them. There's a handful of things I wish I could go back in time and tell myself, and not working for people like that is one of the biggest, even if it had meant taking a pay cut. Although I can't say he was the only factor, he played a part in causing me chronic stress which was further complicated by a heart-attack. And all for nothing, I was actually a lot less productive working for him than for bosses who were much more easy-going. But he didn't care, long and unnecessary commutes, early starts, late finishes and permanent on-call were his requirements, all for no extra pay.
Sounds like yours is maybe from the same mould, and perhaps even worse since he doesn't sound like his regime is applied very consistently...
So not only where there "too many women" in that KS campaign, but I'm starting to feel like there are to many British as well ! I, a male French person, am doomed !

Bonsoir, monsieur! (Also, is it really already evening in France?^^ As far as I recall we are only one hour apart and there is still a lunch break going on over here ^^)
Besides, you shouldn't feel like there are too many British here. The fact that someone lives in the UK does not make them British ;-) ...

That's actually an interesting point. I consider myself Welsh before British. I think the only thing that says I'm British is my passport.
Huh, I like the way Elwyn gets "madmoizel" and I usually just get "fat ginger halfwit"! Admittedly the latter is kinda my own doing. By which I mean entirely. :p
Kinda late isn't it? What time did you have there? (here middle of night)
Yeah, I figured out that most of you guys are on the old continent, sadly! Still, all the stream video from now will be recorded so people can have a look. I answered some question regarding design/scripting and such in the last section of the part 2 video.
Jeff, I just finished reading your blogs and I really enjoyed them! We, the backers, really appreciate your hanging around with us in the comments section and your patience with our banter ;-) Larian has always been very responsive with their fan base but now I had the feeling that the KS comments section became some kind of a friends/family gathering ;-) So, thank you very much for your time and efforts!
If I may make some suggestions for the future topics of your blog - I would really like to know how you start designing a level for D:OS. Do you already know which parts of the story will take place in the level or do you just get instructions like: "we need a beach, a graveyard and a tavern". Or do you sometimes design some parts of the world or dungeons first and they get filled up with the story afterwards?

Someone asked my on my stream yesterday about that specific question, I guess I could talk about it yes. I already have 2 other topic to cover and I'll cover that one too! ^__^

Jeff,
Can you explain more of the process that makes up designing a level? I'm more of a hardware person. I have degrees in computer technologies and Business Computer Information Systems. So for me I hear level designer, but I don't know how it ties in with the artist's work, A/I pathing, or say the animations, spell effects and such.

Oh, I assumed this would be an anjustable A.I., adapting perfectly to our needs? Maybe just a few tweaks necessary to receive a perfect fitting solution?
Hi people! Well, the Discord server I made for Divinity people to chat has been snowballing slowly. We get an average of 2-4 people online at a time now, at least. If someone from Larian wants to come check it out, that would be nice~
A new blog post ^_^. This time, 5 personal tips to help you step into the video game industry https://jfgnord.wordpress.com/
Now need to go to sleep...
Nice post Jeff, like always . This makes me really glad that im not in a gaming industry . Still one thing applies everywhere, there is a ton of people looking for job and you need some edge. For example if I didn't worked throughout my studies I wouldn't probably get a job right after.
Nice post Jeff, like always . This makes me really glad that im not in a gaming industry .
Yeah, same here: I'm not someone who thrives in high-pressure environments. I'm good at what I do and put in lots of effort, but having everything turned up to 11 all the time isn't for me.
There's a school in France ( well at least two I think ) that teach videogame design, or something. Supinfogames in northern France and ... And something else, I'll have to ask a colleague of mine who was in the second.
Supinfogames was created some time ago, when I was myself in the "original" school of the group. I think it somehow evolved in something viable nowdays. I'm not sure. I don't think drawing was a prerequisite though : I did an artsy school myself and I don't know to draw for sh!t.
Bottom line : don't dismiss yourself unless you tried really hard. And even then, still don't dismiss yourself. ( hint : I do. I hate wasting time. =) )

Likewise here. When I was at university I already worked in my field of study at one research laboratory... wuuuf I was at school or at work and on free days I mostly helped around house (read farm which was quite far away). I felt quite burned out my last year. ( lol I was so burned I postponed my thesis to this year ) ... now I prefer my new quite workplace, lol who am I kidding im still stressing here.
Well, I have a degree in animation but never really did anything with it. Sure a few freelance jobs here and there but never anything stable. I feel like I'm rusty now, the technology and techniques in animation are constantly evolving. And with that, you need to keep up and study.
Last MMO I played was SWTOR. I only played that cause it was Star Wars (huge fanboy), not really interested in them otherwise. Tried Archage and wasn't fussed.
MMOs: other people, probably all wanting to shout at me. eek. SWTOR wasn't so bad because everyone studiously ignored each other, but I still felt a bit too conspicuous.
I finally remembered to bring tea to work! Glorious rooibos tea.
Random thought, I'm on a MMORPG kick lately. Last night I caught myself looking at FFXIV ARR wondering if I should jump in.
Funny : I did finally remembered to bring my tea too. name's " I have a Dream " from Mariage freres ( doh ), black tea - sparkling citrus notes. With my 500ml vacuum can, it's purrfect. Only drawback is that I have to actually leave the can open or it stays so hot it's undrinkable

Obivously, as a MMO, it is pretty bad, because it was way too SP oriented. With the companions, we could even dual-man most of the dungeons ( we did ! ). However I liked the classes and the stories seemed nice. Planets had a bad bad BAD design though. I quit in Nar Shadaa because the "Vertical City" never felt so horizontal. Overall a badly designed MMO which was stuck between his Kotor legacy and a real MMO. We even get to meet, fight and kill(!) Revan along with HK47.

That's why GW2 has such a special place in my heart. The elitist jerks are limited to the dungeon speed runs.

Don't really have time now to play GW2 but I will definitely find some time for HoT (heart of thorns). I can dig up my nick later if anyone feels like killing mordremoth minions together
Good read again Jeff, shame I'm useless at all that stuff. I really wish I could draw...My brothers got that talent sadly.
Drawing is not the only thing that you can do though :P

I know a lot of people who have any degree of study in any related job who are now doing something completely different because they didn't had any job when they went out of school.
Just so people are aware, the Discord server is taking off a bit, a couple of the writers appeared earlier. Basically a chatroom for everyone who doesn't want to read all the forum posts and chat with the online peeps. https://discordapp.com/channels/98922182746329088/98922182746329088
I hope nobody @Larian would mind (I doubt, because they did several shoutouts for them), but might I remember everyone in here that KingArt's "The Dwarves" KS-campaign is ending within a few hours?
Perhaps some of you are willing to back this interesting game or those who did already might consider to upgrade their pledge?
[quote=ravensRblack][quote=CoffeeGhoul]Yo everyone CoffeeGhoul here, excited to get a look at the enhanced edition soon. Anyone know how to change or add an avatar? This grey face just isn't me...[/quote]
You'll need to wait for one of the moderators. They'll grant you access.[/quote]
Oh, so that's how i'll be available to change avatar. I was wondering why there was no avatar option in profile/preference.
Guess i'll twiddle my thumbs while i wait for a moderator to grant me access. :)
So you can't equate that with a proper potion? Magical trinkets? Scrolls? Maybe it'd be sufficient to change your armor to leather or cloth...
I have indeed. I've used the magical potion that is coffee: it hasn't worked yet, but I refuse to believe it isn't the answer. Any failure is obviously caused by me failing to administer a large enough quantity.

Teaaaa, you must try teaaaa.... preferably black ;-)
AH, milk with tea. I'm not big on that =) However there are a few tea "designed" to be drank exclusively with warm milk... Spiced tea, indian mostly, I believe. Like the Masala Tchai !
Ori almost done! I know y'all are expecting this kind of information, holding your breath and all, so yeah, I totally deliver. I think this damn game is simply bridging the thin frontier between videogame and art.
By the way, don't we look completely, absurdly, devinitely, and irremediably addicted to tea ? I 'm starting to fear for my sanity ( fun fact : it's probably too late )
Our will, crushed. Our dreams, stolen. But the spark still remains, bidding his hour, ready to ignite again the flames of hope ! For they may have shackled our bodies, but they shall never have... Our FREEDOM ! ( of drinking whatever we like best. *takes a sip of Lapsang Souchong .* )
You are depressing me. I don't have time to prepare tea... *drinks water* :-(
But on the different note! I'm sure that you are all very interested in what chair i did buy! Sooo i visited mall on the edge of town (quite a lot of stores there) and i was trying chairs from price range 50 - 400 bucks. I didn't want to save money here i wanted to buy some chair in which i feel good... natural. Well lucky me, the best chair in my opinion, suited for me perfectly had price only about 80 dollars
p.s. It was a pain to get it into apartment from that store :-/

Hey thanks for the feedback ! Now of course the big question that won't be resolved quick is : "how long will it last" :p The padding, the backrest, the mechanism... My own chair was priced in the 100€ range, but it broke far too quickly - it took a while before it really broke, but it was very uncomfortable soon enough. The new one I got, I already had to take down and re-assemble with the viable parts of the first.

I should call myself Dr Frankenchair.
Well I bought 3 chairs in my life. First 50 dollars, second 60 dollars and third 80. The first one I bought about 8 years ago, it is the most comfortable chair I ever had its still fully functional but I left it at home. Second one I bought 3 years ago, its still working but it isn't very comfortable so I gave it to my sister ... so I don't really expect this one to break either (original price was 120 but there was some discount).
p.s. You monster! What have you created? Is it alive?!
after the finalization of the KS campaign it seems that most moved here to discuss the game, so I created an account as well. Lets hope for a great game.

Yes! yes we did. It's a bit obnoxious to have to keep refreshing the comments in KS after the end of a campaign. What's more e have quotes and edits here ! And it keeps the forums alive! ALIVE !
It's a shaken frothy tea based drink with either fruit flavor or milk and tapioca pearls. There are also variants with jelly and other stuff.
The tea shop near my workplace let's you specify how much sugar you want in it. I prefer the simplest and most basic - black, no sugar, milk, heavy cream with tapioca pearls.
I thought it was the same as bubble coffee that uses one of those peculiar vacuum (or is it pressure?) thingies, which are quite hypnotising to watch.
And my other half likes that chai stuff with the frothy milk, but I never quite got a taste for it. It tastes much like I'd expect a pudding following an Indian meal to taste like, only in liquid form.
Hey folks, I have a question regarding kickstarter backing of this undoubtedly awesome game. I backed it for 25$ but since I forgot the payment would be finalized AFTER the kickstarter period finished and I had to withdraw all the cash to pay for Uni (and didn`t manage to put cash back into the account in the time period that kickstarted required of me to finish the backing). Could I still somehow back you folks?
Is this the appropriate thread or should I ask this question somewhere else?
Is this the appropriate thread or should I ask this question somewhere else?
I don't really have an answer except that maybe you'd want to create your own thread : this here topic is mostly a very big "let's flood'em all ( with waves of tea )!" topic and the persons able to answer you may miss it.
I believe that PayPal was going on for a few days after the end of the Kickstarter but now I am redirected to the "page not found" link. So, PayPal might already be down. Otherwise you will probably have to wait until the game goes Steam Early Access and buy it directly from there...
Paypal has been shut down. I think the next chance would probably be Steam Early Access. If GOG supports alphas/betas in about a year, then the D:OS 2 alpha/beta will be available there, as well; otherwise it will just be Steam. I don't know if GOG may add some kind of Early Access type system, or if that will just be available to Kickstarter/Paypal backers.
Also, another blog post guys. One of my friend ask me for it so maybe it could interest some of you. This will be a serie I think. I "talk" about board games. https://jfgnord.wordpress.com/
Dang! And it's all of you english speakers ? Ah well ! I guess I'll have to stick to the forum. I have a hell of a hard time understanding spoken english, not to mention that, if Jeff finds its own accent horrible, I have no idea how to qualify mine =)
It's certainly not me: I'm much too shy for that sort of behaviour. And I don't speak so much as mumble, which combined with my accent renders me pretty much entirely indecipherable. Actually I can shout too, but that doesn't actually aid clarity at all.
Oh! Damn, I was sure it was essentially a vocal thing. Well, that's good to know. And to be honest, I was terrified at the prospect of speaking, so, yeah, better this way. And being half-deaf doesn't help either, so there was that too.
edit : what's more, cats.Damned, noisy, cats. ( disclaimer : these aren't mine obviously but one of mine is the same breed so ... yeah. )

I'm zure you speek ze goud engliss man.
I am from germany and I work at a university. There are people from all over the world, so we speak english most of the time. But there is no native english speaker in our group, so I have no idea how well I would understand "normal" people.
I was on vacation in norway, and everyone spoke better english than my english teacher at school. In Berlin I spoke to somebody from the UK and I had problems to understand anything.
to the french speakers: I had french at school, but I have forgotten everything. My conclusion: It is art, but I do not know how people can understand this. Can`t you just leave away half of the letters of most words. You do not speak them anyway. Like the actor Jean Reno vs the car Renault who sound the same. Please do not get angry. I am not against you or your language. Its just that I had really big problems to learn it at school.
French is known for being one of the most difficult language, so somehow I'm lucky to be French in the first place. Gives me a heads-up I guess! We have a complex and rich vocabulary with very few compound words, making it a very accurate language ( I heard it was even favored for official multi-language discussions in politics and foreign affairs because it prevented misunderstandings, but I never found proof of that ). English is very easy despite a few traps here and there. German is easy to grasp grammarwise, but overall wording is hard : so many letters, and a general harsh, very sharp diction/pronunciation.
But yeah, a lot of 'useless' letters in some of our words. Reno/Renault are names though, which is even so different. And they aren't pronunced the same actually... Even if the difference is in the "e" of the first syllable =)
I was also taught German at school. By a German. I also lived next door to a German. My cousin is German. But I'm rubbish at German.
I was taught English at school. An English school. In England. By an English teacher who was English. I'm English. I was born in an English town. And I'm rubbish at English too.
Some of us just have no aptitude for languages. Or anything else, in my case.
I had english as first foreign language since 5th grade. I had to chose a second one. I wanted to learn latin, but there were not enough people. So I had to chose between french and russian. I chose french because it has the same letters as german and english.
German and latin are complicated but also logic. (OK, there are many strange things in german and I do not know latin.) I have no problems with complicated things as long as they follow some logic rules. Please remove all irregular verbs out of all languages .
I have heard that iran has the most simple language. But I do not know it.
EDIT: God, why can't this forum accept "special" letters used by various countries
The character set used by the forum to store posts is set to something different than that used to post and display. That happened the last time the forum software was updated; old posts were displayed properly, but new posts and any old posts that were edited would have a problem.
i have been encouraged by the many backers from the comments section to divert my attention post-KS to this forum... as such have created an account and am warming up to role-playing antics as i am completely new to this affair.
i have yet to have played D:OS nor any sort of CRPG, hence will be looking forward to playing D:OS EE when it comes out. :)
How dare you, kind sir ! On the other hand ... You're just showing the Devins' true colors to the world ! LONG LIVE THE BRUTHAHOOD ! ( which happens to also accept sisters. Yup. )
That's a point, we need to bring in the money plant (er... succulent thingy, a.k.a jade plant, I think) from its summer excursion into the back garden before the early frosts arrive. It doesn't have to move far, but it's very heavy, and both of us have quite strained muscles from bizarre decorating accidents.
It is actually very similar to the Kickstarter comments section, except that you do not have to click on the "X new messages" button.
I don't go there either. Just the idea is new and scary. I'm ancient and set in my ways and I'm sticking with what I know, even when it turns into a ghost town!
Edit: randomly, I sometimes wonder if I should enable my "m" badge too. Unfortunately it makes my Kickstarter badge look like it has a flea, so I think I'll leave it hidden.
Drinking tea non stop for the last 4 days. University starts and I become ill...perfect timing.
I feel like that was deliberate on your part.

If it was school...maybe yes...I wouldn't have given a sh*t. But now I have to force myself to go to uni while knowing that it surely won't speed up the healing process, more likely the exact opposite.
Just poking my head around the door to say hi, see how you're doing. Hope you're having half as much fun as I am. We're piling on with development on DOS2, and it's hard work, but I'm having a ball. We're doing some really exciting work. I wish I could tell you about it. All I can say is that I think you'll be thrilled. We certainly are.

You tease!
I suppose this is karma for doing that kind of thing to my kids at Christmas.

Greetings master :-), why couldn't you tell us all about it? We wont tell anyone, promise. ;-)
I'd love to, I really would. But I'm not allowed. Also it can all change anyway so I'd be setting us all up for disappointment. So all I can say is you'd be thrilled if you knew what was happening, but I can't tell you what's happening in case you get thrilled now and disappointed later.
Good, I guess. Work is pretty tough and we are desperatly late and I fear we'll need the week-end if we are to hope reaching the end of it all. Fortunately (?) I haven't catch the ongoing flu or something so I'm at least good of body ! ( mind is another story. )

So anyway, how is everyone?
This is why I could never be a games developer. Well, other than the pressure and stuff. As soon as there's a secret thing, NDAs be damned, it'd really be a case of "I need to tell you about all about all the awesome stuff! Because it's awesome!"
And from the "how is everyone" point of view, it's Friday afternoon and... I'm knackered. Blurgh.
That's seriously the question. Although I worked almost all week end long myself so there isn't much of a difference... Except I'm in the office instead of at home =)
By the way, I bought 4 more new teas. Damn shopkeeper saw me through the window, gestured madly at me for me to come over, and told me he had stashed away some high quality Lapsang Souchong, 'cuz he knows it's my favorite. So yeah, I bought four new teas and will have to go back for that special Lapsang. I'm a victim. I'm weak.

Lol. Best customer right there.

Hangovers are a sort of sickness, and probably more legitimate than other forms of sickness. Such as all of them, at least when you're in the throes of a full-on hangover.
That reminds me, we've done tea and coffee, but in addition to those, another passion is beer. I'm having a bit of a thoroughly girly fruit beer phase at the moment and have recently enjoyed some apricot beer (I think the base beer was a sort of mild ale with apricot concentrate added). It's kind of relevant since fruit beer is Belgium's national drink. I only say that to irritate a Belgian friend of mine.

Back when I could still drink beers, I loved myself some nice Belgian beer too. I liked Krieks the most, but wouldn't refuse a Chimay or Leffe or Maredsous. And I could kill for a pint of Guinness. It's all gone now : from one particular day, I never knew why, a simple sip would send me to the toilets, head first! Champagne was also contender to this annoying state but I never liked Champagne anyway. Now I think I can re-drink but I just don't love it anymore. Guinness is still okayish, Desperados can flow in the right direction, but anything other than that I find it hard to finish
Saddest day of my life, that dreadful day was, yessir.
My commiserations. Though I could probably stand to drink less beer given that I'm perpetually trying to lose weight.
I like dark beers, though Guinness isn't my favourite (that said, I haven't had draught Guinness from a competent landlord in many years). I quite like Meantime's porter, though it seems to have become quite hard to track down; but now that Winter Is Coming(tm) there should be some nice winter beers in the shops soon.
Sorry, I seemed to have gone off on a bit of a flight of fancy there and think I've lacked the appropriate amount of compassion for your beerless woe.
I don't drink. I never acquired the taste for alcohol. Maybe a glass of brandy or rum and coke when out with friends but that's it. I hate wine, the taste reminds me of the fever medicine I used to take when I was a kid.

So yeah as I said before, marry me ! We could get drunk on tea and never buy a single drop of alcohol.

I dunno....I can't trust you to not trade me in for tea. Speaking of, I tried a new blend today - Hibiscus.
Don't know if this is the right thread, but has anybody looked at the page-count of this section of the forum?
We already have 8 pages of threads in this section of the forum, while Divinity: Original Sin 1 got only three pages over a timeperiod of two years since the announcement and the kickstarter-campaign!
And already we discussed us in a corner in some topics. So yeah, D:OS 2 will be the greater game in every aspect .
*Drinks good old black-tea. Without milk, because milk and tea don't belong together!*
There is a reason why you use THE T-Word (The) so everybody knows, T-hat you T-alk serious. T is everything and you will bow T-o T-he T's of T's! Have at TEA! ... Sorry, got carried away^^.
See you back here at 1am tonight when neither of us can sleep?
Quite possibly! I have terrible insomnia anyway so I figure I may as well enjoy some serious caffeine while I'm at it.

There was also a short talk of alcoholic drinks yesterday.
That's a point, I really need to fix my espresso machine, or rather find someone who actually knows how to deal with its boiler. I could quite fancy a macchiato now that you mention it. I'm not entirely convinced it's the ideal migraine cure, but I'm always in favour of things that cheer you up anyway (and am absolutely the last person anyone who's seeking abstinence should turn to).
Today is an alcoholic drink day for me because today I went into Oxford, and Oxford's traffic and car-park situation has that effect on me. Nothing very exciting, just some dark ales, though I am rather enjoying some of the Jura whiskies at the moment: I say that from the perspective of someone who usually prefers Irish, and these seem to be a nice halfway house between Scotch and Irish.
Affogatto: A shot of espresso over a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. Nothing's better.
That sounds absolutely awesome: diabetes be damned! (Actually I already make an exception for chocolate anyway...)
I'm in a slight state of trauma right now because my gf just bought another three herbal teas to add to the already expansive collection of suspicious things that she never drinks. I'm now drinking an enormous mug of Assam to try to dispel the horror.
I take my affogato in a shot glass. Teaspoon of vanilla ice-cream. Dribble of espresso. Yum.
My wife has a collection of several hundred* teas accumulated over the last fifteen years.
Why aren't you people playing the Enhanced Edition...?
*Okay, probably about 60.
I caaaan't I'm deeply stuck at work and contrary to you guys I'm quite hating it :p Hopefully this will be done and over by thursday. One can wish.
And I suppose I must have around 60 teas too yeah.
And how are things going around at Larian's now that EE is released?

Seems the spammers have followed in the wake of the new release! Grr. Just banned a couple, but I'm off out in a bit, any other mods around to keep an eye on things?
Also, four hours' sleep for the second night running. I think there's only so much help coffee can provide...

I'll keep an eye out. Glad it's not just me who's not sleeping. Is your snorey father-in-law visiting you too?!

Thankfully not! I just never got the hang of sleeping. Which is a pity, because it seems like such a good hobby to have.
Having reflected that my contribution to this thread lately largely consists of (a) insomnia and (b) coffee I'm drinking no more coffee today in an attempt to sleep tonight.
I gave up coffee for a while on that basis, but it made no difference and I realised I was just depriving myself! I think they suggest no coffee after about 6pm, which seems like a good idea.
Saffron Walden? She was good in that thing with the sharks.
I'd leave Ireland if I could. Unfortunately right now the best job in the world is there.
Never occurred to me it sounded like someone's name! I rather liked what I saw of Dublin, seemed to have a nice relaxed atmosphere compared to the UK, or at least the bits of it I've lived in lately.

Amaretto is too almondy for me, though I guess that it kinda the point of it! Not sure about codes, unless you mean BBcode in which case you should be able to use that now.
Oh, that. I imagine it'll be forthcoming in due course: I forget the exact sequence of events with the release of D:OS, but I think the keys eventually appeared on Larian Vault. I'm not sure they'll be using the same approach this time, though.
Hey ! So, how are things going ? I finally finished the Disney job. My gosh the result is so ... well... not very great and quite all over the place in terms of quality. Maybe I'll be able to post it somewhere one of those days. I guess it will have to go through the approval of the Disney EMA ( Europe, Middleeast, Africa ) department first. Too bad it's only for broadcast usage and not a movie or something :p
I keep hearing about the Mysterious Bubble Tea. I'll have to go on a mission in the streets of Paris to find something remotely related to this.
How long did it take for you to get your backer badge? I have entered my kickstarter email at the vault last week.
Vometia, your job would not be good for me because I do not drink any coffee at all (and no alcohol too.) I am a juice addict and when its cold I drink tea.
I don't recall the exact timescale; it was quite a long time before the badges were ready though, which is probably rather uselessly imprecise, but that sums up my memory quite well!
I used to drink gallons of juice but developed diabetes and fructose is Really Bad(tm) so I had to cut it out except for the occasional small glass now and then. I've mostly cut out carbs, though my diabetes doesn't seem to object to alcohol, curiously. And coffee isn't absolutely essential to be a sysadmin but it helps. That said, illness has kept me away from useful work for quite some time, annoyingly.
Does anyone know what happened with the Ouija board reward? I preferred to have something else, but did not keep up with the final decision on what item it would be.
The majority of those who voted said they would prefer a different reward, but ultimately it had to be axed because the name and design of a Ouija board are trademarked and patented. Update #15 has that info, as well as a link to a UserVoice page for ideas on a replacement.
Raze, thank you for the update. As much as I would love to receive an Ouija board, I strongly felt that the money for a board like that could definitely go to something as functional as the Dwarven Ale mug (Aye! Tavern brawls!) and I'm glad to have ordered the Collector's Ed.
Would the reward be Tarot Cards according to the UserVoice website?
Heh! I fondly remember I was 12 with my copy of Divine Divinity and restarted the game three times before realizing the knight who saved me from those orcs HAD to die to continue the game.. Oh those times.. (Could I bring Zandalor out to revive the knight like how he revived me? Like how he unfroze the poor elf? SURELY THERE IS A WAY!)
Am I the only one, that is totally excited for the Lore- and the Artbook? I really love looking at the monsters of the series, although I liked the demons more, when they had no eyes. Just a small detail, but it gave them a more otherworldly look.
After logging in to your Vault account (if you don't have one, see the last Kickstarter update), click on the 'D:OS 2 Kickstarter' link in the menu, then 'Manage Addons'.
In that case, it has not started yet. The current Kickstarter forum badges are from the first D:OS Kickstarter. There should be a D:OS 2 Kickstarter update when that starts, mentioning it and reminding people to fill in and/or fix the email addresses to exactly match what is used in the forum.
Do you all think the release really will be this year? I somehow suspect that the game will be pushed back. But maybe that's just me being negative. However it's very rare that a game really gets released on time. I don't really mind if it will be pushed back to make sure the quality is right.
Hmm, I guess it will be pushed, because now they have the money to make it really big. On the other hand, they have now more people than ever before, so maybe they will be on time? Hmm, my guess is still a delay.
I've just been able to register for this forum - didn't have internet access for a few months. I'm not seeing how KS backers are supposed to be able to vote on the things Larian has put in the KS Updates. There's only one "vote" thread that comes up in search, and it's about how the votes aren't fair, not an actual vote.
Does anybody know, Will be available video of this event? I've found video of main event, but Swen was on nVidia's stage - cannot find record.
Another Swen's presentation should be today at the same time. There is a stream of the main event https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe6g0_HRexw but I also cannot find stream form nVidia's stage.
Thanks to him. I've just read on RPGCodex that someone was asking if anyone else was recording this. (Because I'm also everywhere ). I know that Larian official Twitter said that there was supposed to be an official recording. I don't know if that became a thing or not. Swen also told me on Friday that there was supposed to be a recording but shit can happen. Since pakoito was there and said there was no other camera. I guess he has the answer sadly.
Yeah, true.. but am happy i watched it even like that. I'm not much into social media/conventions, meaning i don't know where that took place, so maybe it's just a cultural differences/overtones thing; but it was funny hearing him making a joke and people not getting it. On maybe they just haven't watched him enough to pick up on some of his mannerisms
Also, jeesus with that quest spread diagram.. daunting.. i almost pity you. Almost ^^
I often just right-click to see what it's called in order to figure it out! I can't even remember what all of mine are (I don't display them all because it looks untidy, but I kinda feel like I'm being uncharacteristically restrained in doing so).
In the downtime of waiting for the EE Editor and the D:OS 2 Alpha I've been playing Div 2 for the first time.
There's some janky stuff in there and some questionable quest design but I really like the writing, item system, and character skills. Almost done with the Ego Draconis part.
I loved D2 and still play it occasionally. My only real complaint is that there wasn't more of it. Broken Valley is one of my favourite places to just wander about and explore: it had a great ambience and area design.
The difficulty took some getting used to though, especially the early releases: I'm not sure I've ever been killed so often on the "easy" difficulty setting! Reading through a handy guide someone wrote about tactics and builds helped a lot, but it was still quite tricky for those of an exploratory nature.
The quests of Div II and the writing is one of the best in all of gaming. The most problems has the story, but they could have solved it easily, if they would have cut out two scenes. But I love it till to this day, it's still FUN.
