All the stuff in this topic needs a serious overhaul as to their function.

In the gameplay options section of the menu, hovering the mouse icon over the following options, online visibility, LAN connection, direct connection and even reset tutorial on new game, all have a box pop up on the screen that explains what it is, yet nothing in the controls option menu has a single thing explained in that same fashion..Why. It's absolutely ridiculous for this type of inconsistency. These pop ups should be on every single thing in the entire option menu in every single section. How do developers not understand that inconsistency is a serious problem.

Here are just some of the options that require a pop up when the mouse icon is hovered over them.

Place Ping Beacon
Toggle combat mode (What does it mean by "MODE")
Toggle Game Master game pause
Toggle input mode
Toggle Actions bar on hot bar
Toggle Crafting
Toggle character panel
Toggle Set Start Point
Toggle Map and toggle overview map
Toggle waypoint menu
Toggle the item generator panel.

There is an entire list of traits and things that have half an explanation for that I will make a separate topic for.
Try pressing those buttons in game to see what they do. smile

Always has to be some ass clown that instigates problems.

A ping beacon is flashing highlight on the mini-map. It is placed by one player to bring attention to that location to the other co-op partners they are playing with.
This is a common function in co-op games.

When outside combat, pressing this key will draw your weapon. Pressing it again will put your weapon away.

When playing in GM mode, if the GM presses this it pauses the game for everyone. Press it again to un-pause.

Pops up the menu for the Action icons so that you can put them on your hotbar if you want.

Set Start Point is a command used in the design of a GM mode module. It sets the start point within a zone map for the players when they travel to that location on the world map.

It is not the game's job to teach you basic English.

You are completely retarded, and I literally mean totally retarded to the core...
What the fuck does reading have to do with the developers completely failed to provide basic information about what the options are for...You seriously are a douche bag asshole for blaming the player for not knowing the meaning of half the shit in the menus because of developer laziness.

Get the fuck lost asshole!
q-8 man.. You gotta take it down a notch. You attacked both people who replied to you. Neither post deserve such a hostile response. The first one wasn't rude at all, and while the second one could be perceived as low-key negative.. You went full overdrive on your negativity.

Relax.. Always read your posts in these situations like you are the other person. Regardless of your intent on this thread when you behave like that no one cares about your issues or concerns because all they are going to see is your seriously disproportionate hostility.
Nah, q-8's response is warranted; the game should probably add clarification.

A lot of things you might take for granted as obvious is not necessarily obvious to everyone, nor does knowing make you any more special than anyone else in this case.

UX/UI is srs bsn.

For the record, it really isn't warranted and we'd rather people didn't behave like that.
if you know the game, the meanings are obvious, if you don't know the game, they aren't. That is the core issue. If you played the first it is of course easily understandable.
Nah you don't have to be psychic to know...

You have to be self reliant instead of lazy. Not everything, ever, is giving on a silver platter. Investigating stuff and figuring things out is part of the fun as well.

Simply pressing stuff won't break the game. DoS gives a lot of freedom and promotes out of the box thinking. It is like someone asking you to investigate something and come to your own conclusion. Compared to someone telling you the conclusion and letting you investigate to find clues. In the first case you can come up with something fresh and interesting. In the second you just follow the herd. Twisting facts to fit the conclusion you've been told.

Making this a philosophical question about free thinking seems a tad over the top, don't you think?

This isn't even about UI design principles. It's about adding an explanation box to a few more of the options in the options menu, something that's already done with other elements, so claiming this is at best an oversight is not unreasonable.
