Hello,

Do you know that Larian is actually at the Pax East 2022 ?
It's written everywhere "Witness the next step on the road to the launch of Baldur’s Gate III with Larian Studios."

Does anyone have more informations about what to expect and if there will be a show ?

I can't find anything on google, the Pax East website or on twitter...

Still not sure what we should expect from this.
There are good chances it will be aimed to the "general audience" without a single novelty shown for anyone who's already up to date with the Early Access builds.

P.S. Anyone has a proper link where to follow their streaming?

There are YouTube and Twitch links on this page: https://dnd.wizards.com/events/dnd-direct-2022

Larian’s tweet said: “Tune in to D&D Direct on April 21 at 9 AM PT (5 PM BST) for a look at how far Baldur’s Gate 3 has come in Early Access.”

Updates:
Yes, clicking on the link says 2 minutes until it begins

The first topic is Spelljammer

2nd is BG3

Nothing new announced.

Saying expected release date is in 2023
Posted By: Tuco Re: Pax East 2022 - 21/04/22 04:14 PM
Yep, as I feared: this was just a recap for the average joe and there was nothing new for people who are already up-to-date.
Posted By: Archaven Re: Pax East 2022 - 21/04/22 04:17 PM
that's it? what is actually being revealed?

At least the spell jammer stuff gave us a bit of meat

Nothing was revealed. It was just a trailer to lure in more general audience to the EA.

Wow, dissapointing^^

Quite honestly ... i would even hesitate to call this "recap" ... maybe not even look over the shoulder. :-/
Very disappointing. frown

It was basically a commercial telling people who have been sitting on the fence about preordering and joining the EA that it is now a great time to jump in (according to Larian).

Spoiler: it isn't.
Posted By: Archaven Re: Pax East 2022 - 22/04/22 07:36 AM
just wondering if the current companions revealed.. since there'll be multi-class are they able to cover all if not most of the overall interesting builds? researching on solasta builds now.. the combo seems tempting:

Sylvan Elf Ranger Hunter
Sylvan Elf Battle Cleric
Half Elf Paladin
Shock Arcanist Wizard

Seems like Sylvan Elf is really good race for the bonuses. I believe they are similar like in BG3?

Everyone loves Elves, they are one of the most popular races.
If I'm being petty, it has very little to do with racial bonuses, and much more to do with simply being Elf. The racial bonuses of Elves really aren't any more impressive than any other non-human race. It's probably got something to do with the pointy ears.

I often choose characters based on how they look. Unfortunately these racial bonuses are so good. Some games has awful looking characters. I'm not sure why do they have to look bad and the penalize me in picking them. Here i like to appeal that each race has more different types and unique looks of characters or customizations so i can make them how they look the way it suites my taste.

I mean, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm looking forward to playing a cute slime girl ^.^

I just squealed a little bit when I saw Thrikreen myself.
Does this whatever it is just add Thrikeen to Spelljammer campaigns or FR too? o.O
A Thrikreen anything would be so fun/OP on Larian's vertical maps. hehe

Ooze people? Don't they mean teenagers?

Uuuh...ok then. Typical WOTC. General audience PR shit.

Moving along.

Ona more interesting note, while editing some stuff in my BG2 folder, I found some great old BG2 PR art/concepts!
Sharing here since its probably more interesting to us than PAX. Also kind of shows what Baldur's Gate is all about.
So freakin late 90s, I love it.

God the first paintings are giving me some serious nostalgia. Wish I was in elementary school again obsessing over MtG, I started playing at the time of Tempest but when I came across some of the older edition's cards in my local shop I always remember that feeling of wonder, as if by finding a stupid common with a nice painting and flavor text I found an entrance in an even more hidden fantastical world. Sorry for going off-topic, but is it just me or has fantasy in general evolved from medieval setting with a bit of exotic and magical elements to settings where everything is magical, heroic, and over the top god-like. My personal conviction is that this actually explains the successes of Game of Thrones (the books) as GRR Martin (write that fucking book before you die, you teasing bitch) chose to do away with all the fairy tale, conan the big magic wielder bullshit and wrote more of a classic, pseudo-historic epic tragedy. Also in Lord of the Rings, the magic is usually either well explained in world and not too outlandish (everyone knows dragons spew fire and that wizards use staffs for cool stuff). The big boogie man in these is probably Harry Potter, never read the books but I am forced to watch the movies multiple times a year at home (GF is obsessed), where magic is much more central and - in my eyes - a lot less credibly tied into the world building. Like, how does it even work at Hogwarts in-universe ? Can the wizzards in HP simply make up crappy pseudo-Latin phrases to invent new spells or is there a supposedly limited amount of phrases to be used ? I very very much prefer the approach of Tolkien and GRR martin where magic is mystical and mysterious by definition, kinda more effective for me in how it tickles my fantasy about the unknown and archaic religion or ritual. Harry Potter on the other hand simply gives me the feeling that it's a motivational book for kids having to study Latin vocabulary: you see kid, this is not boring Language , this is magic. * Sighs and starts reciting hic haec hoc hī hae haec
