It would not. I tried on a GTX 950M and it was painful. The data may be usefull for Larian but I advise you wait for the full release, when the game is actually optimised.

I played on an old 4gig GTX1050 and couldn't play past medium settings if wanted a full 60fps. No way your GTX750 is getting the job done, sorry.

I'm saddened; I thought this thread was all about playing 55+ year old Player Characters.

My old pc was crap and didn't have a problem except it lagged hard on the vid after the ship. After that I was fine, my buddy crashed on that vid though.

Even if you get it to work for the surface, the Underdark will likely crash it, and Grymforge certainly will.

usually the wait will never arrive. better upgrade to a better card. larian would pretty much care about finishing the game and releasing it than optimizing it at this point.

Well, hopefully optimisation will be done for 1.0. We might also see further improvements later down the line as we did with D:OS2 when Larian was working on porting the game to consoles.

Oh yeah, Larian are surely up to the challenge. A GTX 950 makes D:OS2 run and look better than BG3 in its current state.

well based on experience i recall during the DOS era (not DOS2) i email a couple of bad performance or crashes to larian but never get any direct response. so in the end it was never fixed for me but a new entire system and better GPU did it. that's why banging on larian for the optimization will be a fool's hope. usually.

Optimisation is one of the last things done for the game before it is release, so it reasonable to expect that the game will run better but to what extend I don't know. I do say, that on my old laptop there was a world of different between D:OS2 1.0 and D:OS2 enhanced edition, or whatever it was called. Fortunately for me, I can run BG3 just fine as it is.

You could always play the Stadia version. Ive played that on my chromebook

last thing done or possibly never be a thing at all usually. since DOS2 have a good track record, hope bg3 follow suit. my guesses bg3 probably will follow that DLC stuff since they possibly have to follow WoTC roadmap? maybe max level 10 upon release and then DLC till level 12. with DLC perhaps it will be great that bg3 enhance edition is a thing and they can focus on the optimisation part.

There's also hope that BG3 will be on nvidia NOW. The support chat is certainly full of requests for it, and DOS 1&2 are both on there already. Nvidia NOW is also a lot better than Stadia in many ways imho.

Fast for being such old CPU AMD RYZEN 2600 X with in TURBO speed 4,2 GHZ 6 cores 12 threads and it runs fine on FULL HD resoluton max settings!

With my budget I think I buy laptop as well with Nvidia 3060 or better (and with minimum 16GB RAM) since I also travel fairly much and will not take my desktop with me on my travels.

Congratulations you lady andromedia087 have faster CPU then mine not that there is practical difference in BG3, but some other games. Both seems good enough for BG3 FULL HD maximum graphics at least.

You lady andromedia087 have Nvidia 1080 8 GB DDR5 that is nice released 2017 and still good enough for FULL HD graphics and certainly good enough for BG3.

I have also graphiccard released in 2017.
Nvidia 1070 Titanium 8 GB DDR5... that is slightly faster then Nvidia 1070, but your lady andromedia087 Nvidia 1080 8 GB DDR 5 is slightly faster then mine. That said I guess hard to notice difference in BG3 with FULL HD graphics.

This thread needs to be updated. I will make a work travel that takes months abroad. Well not only that a friend of mine wants that I travel with him to Spain or Greece late Autumn 2022 exactly when not decided but absolutely not September.

Therefore I bought this gaming laptop that was on a discount got it roughly for 1300 euro.

Why not wait for Nvidia 4000 series? I guess Nvidia 4000 series comes out on Autumn 2022 to desktops but before we see any kind of laptops with them will be deep into 2023.
In addition I do not like the fact that Nvidia 4000 series will require really much more power like super power source example 800 Watt-1200 Watt and have much higher electricity costs. In addition more power makes it likely to run more hot and thus need more expensive cooling systems.

Nvidia 3000 series is the last Nvidia with reasonable energy costs before Nvidia 4000 series. Of course what happens in future with Nvidia 5000 series etc is unknown.


CPU is strong enough indeed and I do not care that it is older generation not the newest INTEL since so affordable price to buy. Well and then I am not going to start a Intel vs AMD war. AMD 5800H CPU is strong CPU and roughly same speed as this INTEL CPU.

Offtopic? No my point is that if you have old computer you could upgrade to newer computer. In addition I guess some players do not have high budget and I would say for its reasonable budget it is pretty good. Of course if you want to spend more money and get better computer that is absolutely fine.
Well and I am sure you can get better desktop, but I needed really a laptop.

I have not had time to play yet BG3 with this gaming laptop and it will take time to install software to it etc.

Not sure about the latests releases but the very first itteration on GTX950M was actually stable and playable. Few advices:
1) Lower everything related to models and amount of polygones to lowest.
2) Set light filters as high as possible. Medium values at least. If you have a good processor highest should be possible for some of them.
3) Shadows definitely medium/low.
4) Your resolution. Change it to 1200x800 in case your pc still can't keep up.

You won't be close to what's on the screenshots. The game will look like decent games from a couple years ago. Where our graphic cards belong.

The I5 will drag you back more than the GPU but having 12-16g or more of Ram will key to if it even runs

Well we know that BG3 will not release until 2023.

As the leading edge for gaming computers continues to move further, there will be opportunities to find an upgrade in most any budget; especially if you start saving now.

My computer isn't bleeding edge yet, but I will probably make a jump by launch.


Hell, keep a watch out for deals made available because the former owner had to stay at the extreme leading edge.
