Just a thought: Possibly a weak addition but:

Ranger Ability
Regional Knowledge: When you enter an area, you have some idea of what sort of creatures are in that area:
Practical application: When you enter an area, perform this check, and the ranger will list potential creatures in the area

I find that the biggest thing in BG games is knowing what spells to memorise in advance. Usually it is a quick reload when I find out what I am facing!
Rangers could fix this with knowing in advance what creatures are in an area and then can dictate what spells you memorise.

Just a thought!

Some other thoughts with rangers:
Subclasses that specialise in: Archery (already done); Spell casting druid style; better 2 weapon fighting skills

I loved playing ranger from a RP perspective (PnP) but did find them a little lack-luster in my BG games, so didn't play them. In saying that I prefer dual weapon ranger fighting.

Yar!
I know they are looking at supporting the class:
Hence the post.... Was thinking about what Rangers could do while I played BG ee SoDS last night, and thought it would be good to know roughly what spells to prepare in advance, and thinking a rangers tracking knowledge could be helpful for that.

Another Idea:

Allow Rangers to Detect Traps and disarm them... I mean they are mean to be "scouts" - Let them scout out danger.

Different from thieves? Yes - can't open locks or detect illusion (or maybe let them detect illusion - they should be masters of seeing things out of the ordinary like following scant tracks hardly able to be seen normally.

I usually create a thief dual to mage in BG due to this: I like to be able to detect, disarm traps, and open locks with my main character, and mages with their spells need more micromanaging, so being a mage thief means I don't have to switch characters back and forth all the time.

I wonder how Larian will handle these sort of things.

Isnt´t that the same as the "Tracking" feat of the rangers in 3.5e?

Some of the things he said does not have sense. Terrain advantage of the rangers does not work that way. Also gives you an advantage in combat and skill checks. You can also hide in plain sight at higher levels in your favorite terrain.
