I didn't on my first run through, but was thinking about restoring to a save point and trying. Is it possible to attack him and if so is it winnable at 2nd level or TPK?

Pretty sure he has infinite health, also I wouldn't kill him he is kind of important.

I tried attacking him and he just compliments your swings. You talk to him again to progress as usual.
