The quest is bugged, when the scroll was supposed to turn into a True Ressurection, this happened.

Same thing happened to me. Game also crashed the first time I killed the imp.

Worked fine for me.

Followed all his ridiculous instructions properly.
On the Steam version.

Hope it gets fixed soon, missing out on a free revive scroll is a big issue those things are important.
