Back in 2e (yeah I am dating myself) there was a Druid(?) type that wasn’t necessarily about balance. I want to say they were called shadow Druids back then, but I am not sure.
They were nature priest and had groves but could/would if needed draw the life force from nature to power their spells if needed. This could cause mass die offs etc. Some viewed them as the Druid equivalent of an Anti paladin.
Was this actually how shadow Druids were?
Am I remembering something else?
And what would the equivalent be in 5e? It seems the Shadow Druid in 5e is more a philosophy and not a class type…
Thanks 5e has changed so much from when I pen and papered it…
Shadow druids were militant environmentalists or eco-terrorists if you will. They were about balance between nature and civilization, but certainly had an evil bent as they would often be in conflict with all of civilization.
Yes, the Shadow-Druids are eco-fascists, but I wouldn't consider them evil. They've simply decided that 'man-kind' is the worst enemy of nature, and act accordingly.
