I really enjoyed the PFH. Please, never change, Larian!

Patch 8 looks very interesting, I will definitely try the bard in my next playthrough.

I wish I had more time to write feedback (and to play), because I love this game a lot already. I think it is developed with a lot of passion and attention to detail, and to me, this is more important than everything working perfectly all the time, especially in early access.

It is not important to me if every 5e rule is implemented exactly, I like a compelling story and characters, and I think Baldur`s Gate 3 has both. I particularly like the character writing of our companions, I think they are very complex and nuanced.
My only complaint would be that the dialogue scenes with our party members can sometimes be easily missed and/or are very hard to trigger. Which is a pity because the acting/voice acting is perfect, and I don`t want to miss a scene.

Stuff that got my attention:

-Bard class and gnomes. 96 insults from the Bard <-----------My second favorite addition to this patch. I LOVE insults wink
-Hair color options...ok that was a cool bit of cosmetic porn. EA & Activision would charge you $$$ and your soul for this.
-Elves acting/looking more like elves?? Could not see the difference...then again, I am an half-elf in real life.
-DOS shovels & buried treasures. lol. Nice troll Larian:) not sure players will be digging this.
-TONS of graphical changes/additions. My eyes bled out when reading the patch notes.
-Hey! My FAVORITE addition. They did sorta what I asked : make combat faster by moving minor mobs together, the swarm mechanic! THATS a great change. The BEST change imho.
-More reactive companions during dialogues! <-----------My third favorite addition. Next patch, please add dirty banters to this!
-The UI looks feels a bit nicer. I guess?
-A boatload of more bug fixes...way more than new gameplay/system features sadly. Lots of annoying stuff remains unchanged for now.

On a personal side-note...this game STILL looks too colorful for a Baldurs Gate game. And apparently it's gonna have the same childish humor as Divinity Original Sin 1&2. <sad> but understandable. Im 42 and except more <fantastic realistic gritty dread with a touch of humor> than Pocahontas and talking bears having tea in a pool of blood.

I admire how they wanted to do it for every available voice. I would probably think it is not worth the trouble.

Thanks - I see that about Bards playing in general to distract. Though after one time, you'd think the merchants would get wise to it. And you'd need a Bard and a Rogue simultaneously in a Party of 4. Which... I mean, not really my preferred choice.

I was referencing the ability to play with in-game bards for a harmony duet. And even waste a Feat to play with all your party together. That seems completely fringe interest compared to other features of the game like Feats, Reactions, larger party, higher levels, etc we would all love to try out.

We all knew Bards and Gnomes would be coming eventually, so not really impressed or disappointed by that. Also happy they are starting to clean up cinematics and things like that, starting to look much better. Of the things I wasn't aware would make an appearance:

- Swarm AI Mechanic > Have to see how it works, but this seems like a really great addition. I don't mind BG3 combat even if it isn't DOS2 levels of entertaining... but I dreaded the fights with tons of 'trash mobs' because of how long turns would take.

- Companion Emotion During Dialogue > I could see this being great, but could also see it being a bit over the top if you have a lengthy conversation with a companion and they are perpetually stuck with one of those odd faces. I thought some of the Shadowheart emotions looked good, others looked meh.

- More Hair Stuff > A good change. More customization is always nice.

- DOS Style Shovels > I think this is fine. I liked the feature in DOS, imagine it will be fine in BG3.

- Casting Cantrips/Spells During Dialogue > Necessary change, glad it is now in the game.

- Playing Music w/ NPCs and Your Party > I guess this is a neat little addition. I could see doing it a couple of times and then forgetting it exists though.

That being said it does appear that they have entered the 'polishing' phase for the game. I would imagine the vast majority of the content for all acts are done. I imagine all classes, companions, races, etc. are all complete and fully playable. Now they are just fine tuning everything...

Which is to say I think anyone looking for major system overhauls is likely to be disappointed upon release. We'll get tweaks and adjustments, but I think something like a new reaction system is probably out of the question at this point - although Larian could surprise me!

I hope so!!! They seem to have sold a lot in EA, so that being only 30% of total sales would mean the game is a great success!😊

Just to be clear, it's not meant as a praise nor as a criticism, just as plain assessment (well, prediction).
People tend to massively overstate how much attention these EA usually gather and what share of the total they tend to be.

Sales of DOS 2 in EA before launch were an almost negligible fraction of how the game performed at launch, and while BG admittedly is a beloved cult classic with a different upfront appeal, I don't imagine the final proportion to look particularly different.

The amount of unjustified smugness in this post is kinda astonishing, too.

They are anything but stale. Every patch is more DOS3 and less D&D. At this point, they aren't jokes anymore.

This game is DOS3.

I am amused by all the complaints about DoS3. Although I admit that some people are already crazy in this respect.
