Hello players and developers! What are you think about new companions which player can create by himself? This can be done with a special item in the game, or with a dialogue line from an NPC such as Volo. That is, from the point of view of the in-game logic, these can be mercenaries, as, for example, it was implemented in the Patnfinder dilogy. The main advantage is that it will allow players to create a group that is balanced for their play style, or just some crazy idea that is impossible or difficult to achieve under standard conditions, for example, a squad of pure dwarves.

What are you think about this?

All good day!

If the "not yet available" companion is as bad as those 5 mf then custom companions is the only way.

I feel like the option to have a custom team is inevitable.

They're not going to give us 1 story-companion for each class (even though I wish they would so we could have full diversity of options without sacrificing content, but whatever), so I think a custom companion or mercenary system is probably a necessity. Of course, it would be nice if they had a bit of personality, but we'll probably just get Silent Monks for companions.

I say a custom generated character with a premade generic voice acting and vague backstory that can fit the narrative. Heck it can be as simple as one of the tadpoles that escaped a dead host buried itself in its new host while they slept.

Without multi-player please.

It can be an option to create them at the start, and then we just meet them.

Or the hireling method...or whatever works best for you Larian.

They should just add the option when you start a new game. Theres already 4 slots at the bottom left of the character creation (yourself and invite friends), just add the option to create more characters but for yourself when you click on one of the slots.

Also I like that we start with our custom characters party right at the beginning of the game.
