So on my last run I made a bit more effort than usual to butter up Gale and be pals. He wasn't on the team the entire time but was there for most of it. Which led to the odd circumstance that he didn't do his first 'eat a magic item' bit until late in the run and well after he had told me his life story. So when he finally got 'hungry', it was kind of weird that he was all secretive about it and wouldn't tell me anything about his condition despite me knowing all about it. Nor could I say anything like, 'you told me everything a couple days ago, remember?' So evidently, the chain of events for him can get broken and a little scrambled.

I would say that it's another downside caused by the "need-to-long-rest-to-advance-the-story-with-companion" system smirk
Hopefully they find a way to "force" the proper order between cutscenes or adapt the dialogues.

I think a similar issue can be had Astarion.
So, it's possible to "discover" that he's a vampire and learn about Cazador fairly early on.
However, when talking to him after the scene with Raphael, he says "He's playing with us. He reminds me of-well, someone I used to know. Someone that liked to play with people. Creatures like them don't play games unless they know they can win." Even though we know about Cazasnot already.
That being said, I find it weird that he says "liked to play with people" and not "likes to play with people".
So maybe it's not Cazador and it's off topic? Oops if that's the case 😅

I had this same broken sequence and I absolutely agree it is a terrible oversight!

It should be an easy fix. Just make it so that such events are timed. Make the first conversation impossible to access after say 2-3 long rests after its initial trigger point. Once the first one in sequence locks, the second one unlocks for X-Y long rests. That way, we can avoid sequence breaks.

Another alternative is to do what DoS2 did, if you fail to do a critical quest. You failed that play through and won’t get to see any of the char quests. Or do what kingmaker did, and have certain events tied to a game over screen. Eg: gale dying and waiting 7 days [not sure if that was confirmed to be fake or is real].

You wouldn't want to romance him anyway. Unless they change it. He's not sure if he's over his ex. If you watch videos with his romance scenes, you can see he's really not that great. After all that, I just feel like insulting him and executing him for catharsis. He sleeps with you before telling you about both his ex and the fact that he's a bomb? And then isn't even very apologetic about it.
