Possible Spoiler: Having some trouble understanding the point of the four chests and the riddle "Wisdom is the key". See they're made of four elements, and the wooden chest is already open and holds a wooden weopen. Apart from that, can't find any keys for the others in the area where I suspect the keys need to be of the same element. I'm afraid there's a simple answer to this that I can't think of. Been playing too long maybe. Would appreciate a little lift on this one. Tks in advance.

You only get one choice for the chests. I saved before choosing and if I didn't like the "spoils" I reloaded and tried different chest.

I did the same as confused2. Wisdom isn't much of a guide, as the contents of all chests is roughly equivalent, IIRC.
Gold chest gives money; wood gives a good mage weapon (An Oak or Elm IIRC) the others are weapons too.
None of them are real game changers, so I wouldn't worry about getting a weapon you don't like too much

Obviuosly there is some randomness involved if you got weapons - I don't recall my last few games but this afternoon the metal chest yielded a mediocre set of plate armor.
Reality is for those who cannot cope with fantasy. Fortunately, I can cope quite well.

Hm, I don't think it's random?
metal - same as you, Ariana, plate armour gold => 5000 gp wood => Entwood bark? (had the German version, hope translation is correct) stone => 2handed hammer?

The gold is right... Hmmm... Maybe I was wrong about the other chest. I thought it was a sword, but I can't really remember. I DO recall I wasn't at all impressed by whatever it was...

When I went through (I'm playing this Chapter again cos I made a dogs mess of it first time round), only the wooden chest was unlocked and I couldn't find the keys for the other chests either.
Maybe there's another something that needs doing for the other chests to be unlocked?
Wisdom? I guess I'm lacking in that area.
My wife says I never listen to what she is saying.
At least, I think that's what she said...

No, Bravo - you can only choose once at the catacomb chest sin Act 3. As soon as you pick up ONE key, the others disappear. This is what Goddess Raan meant: Wisdom. (Or maybe saving before picking up one key). Kiya
Or do you mean the chests in Act 4?

however, what is the right answer to get the xp for correctly solving this particular test? or is there a right answer?
i walked downstairs after choosing the wood chest, as for some reason that seemed the one to do (after saving of course since the other 3 keys vanish), and Raan didn't appear as she had in the previous 2 tests.

There are NO XP for all Raan tests - never were. They are just fun. She doesn't need to appear, as she merely gave you a choice. Kiya
And if you look closely => there are 4 keys on the floor - they only vanish AFTER you have chosen one. And you are only allowed to choose once. What's the point of choosing, if you can take all 4 first?

i saw the keys, i know what the point of the keys was, that wasn't the point of my question. i just realized that i confused the questions at the end of act3 for the act 4 tests : "Knowledge, Endurance, and Faith at the beginning of Act 4?" quoted from here anyway, thanks. and incidentally, even if you didn't get xp, there were right answers or things to be done for the first 2 questions/tests at the end of act 3.

I confirm that the items in the four chests are always the same...I got the same stuff as you and i tried each twice by saving and reloading...I ended up choosing gold...call me greedy

Hmm... sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I seem to have a bug here.
No matter which key I pick, no chest will open.
Anybody else seen this?

Hm, this depends on the version you are playing. IIRC (early German version) had the effect you described. Which version are you playing, please? You can see it on the lower right corner of you main loading screen (where you save/load/see options) Kiya
