I didn't notice when profiles disappeared from the UI (and completely forgot about them), and yesterday I blithely assumed if I started a new game from the main menu, it would keep my active campaign so I could return to it later.

That seems to not be the case, and the campaign I was playing yesterday before starting a new game in the afternoon is AWOL.

Is there a way to have multiple active campaigns right now?

Yes, but they share quick saves and auto saves, so you need to make sure you manually save any game you want to return to. Not ideal!
