I got the mushroom from pipes level 1 but Nixfix still keeps asking me for a mushroom. How do I give him the mushroom to get the Kohar-root?

did you get mushroom before you had the quest? If so, either try dropping it outside his rooms and pick it up after he gave you the quest. Click on it and move it in your inventory => watch if your quest log responds (turns red) - read the entry: does the log know you have the mushroom?

Or try this => click and move your mushroom within the inventory - maybe this triggers. If quest log responds => turns red, it should work.

Thank you, it did the trick.

I have the same problem except I cannot get the quest. I have the mushroom and have tried moving it around. Also dropped it on the same level and asked again. Also climbed up back the rope, dropped the mushroom, climbed back down and asked again. Still haven't gotten the quest. This is serious because the game is totally hosed at this point. Any suggestions appreciated.

Russ, where is Nixfix => in which room, please? Is he at the stairway because you got the key from Tax? If so - you've got a prob.

If not => did you visit Belehram and were informed about who has the Kohaar Root? Check your conversation log, please. Or go to Belehram without the mushroom and go through all speech options.

Check your log - and then go to Nix, to get the quest. Pick up the mushroom after your log responds, ok?

Gee, this linearity is a prob sometimes

I'm in Nixfix' room at the bottom of the rope. Will go check the conversation log AND go see Belehram. Thanks a bunch,

Belehram's conversation log just has "....Don't have - Imps overdue - probably hiding in tunnels - come back later.....". Went to see him anyway and the conversation is the same. Went to Pipes Level 1 and talked to Taxelhix but nothing happened there either. I'm really stuck.

Could you send me your save, please? Pack it with Winzip or with Winrar and send it to

I can't promise anything, but maybe clearing out dynamics will help - or I detect something I don't think of at the moment. Thanks in advance for your trouble.

I think I'm missing something else. Is Tax the same as Taxelhix? If so, how do you get a key from him and how does he go to the same room as Nixfix?

Tax and Taxlehix are the same, this name is too long for such a small person
Getting the key => you have to get the 2nd summoning quest, then Tax will give the key. I had a gamer save where - due to a bug - Tax gave the key too early, so this gamer was not able to complete the 1st summ quest. And I feared, you had this case. As long as the door is closed, you should be able to get the quest from Nixfix. I have no clue at the moment what you are missing.

Procedure =>
-Get blessing
-Go to 1st instructor, get 1st summ test
-go to library and find the summ. book in the NW cupboard. when you leave, the DK will ask you a question => answer is: imp, of course.
-Go to Belehram and learn where the 3 ingredients are.
-In your case => go to Nixfix for the Kohar root and trade this one for the mushroom.

There is a subquest => kill a monster for Nix, but I don't think this interferes with the root. Nixfix gives the quest for the mushroom.

Tax is the same as Taxlehix.
Normally he's supposed to join you in Nixfix' room as soon as you find Nixfix.
And you can't get the key from him until you have the second summoning quest in your log (requires solving the first one) and have talked to Student Dotharhar in Belehram's room.

Thanks again. I've been using Grimwulf's walkthrough and I think it's time to change the sequence of events. I have tons of backups, so that's no problem

Thanks. My problem is giving the mushroom to Nixfix. I've been unable to get the quest from him.

That mushroom is a real problem. I restarted from all my saves all the way back to Act III and that blasted mushroom is still in inventory! In Act III? So I've restarted right after finishing the three tests in Act IV, dropped the mushroom, am just now arriving at the Pipes Level 1. So we;'ll see

Are you sure it's the same mushroom? There are two mushrooms you can find in Act 2. (And I never found out what to do with the Strange Mushroom from A2.)

If you eat that strange mushroom,
both your chars get +3 luck.

Oooooh! I'll be sure to eat it when I replay the game. Never thought of that! :o I kept it around because I was sure I'd need it for some quest and that I'd simply missed it when I triggered the Act-ending too early.

Btw, anything I can do with those permanent rocks I found in the Academy?

And where do you get Holy Water for Permanent Potions? One single time one of the merchants in the BF offered some - but never again. smirk

Btw, your site is fantastic! I saved the whole thing to my harddisk so I can access it next week when I won't be able to access the Inet a lot.

Those permanent rocks are just decoration...

As for holy water, you can get one as quest reward from the imp hermit in A2 and for the rest you'll just have to hope you find them in the bf;
it's purely dependent on luck (as in YOUR luck, not the luck stat of your chars...)

Okay, thanks.

That Imp-Hermit is one of the quests I missed... *sigh* New game, better chance.

Problem solved. I was toying with the wrong mushroom. Restarted at the beginning of Act IV and left the mushroom alone until Nixfix told me about it. BTW, the quest never entered my logbook. Have finished the game and will now do it over again. Never used bows, arrows nor alchemy so I'll leave those alone this time. Thanks again
