I'm new to this game.
I'm having troubles with difficulty.
Reading this forum, people say that the first act is kind of tutorial. So, why did they make it so damn hard. Second ennemy i encounter are ghosts and i seem unable to defeat them. 3 hits and i'm dead, i seem to do little damage to them.

Am i missing something ?
I'm playing survivor char on lowest difficulty

Ghost are unusually tough for the start of the game. Try distracting them with one character and then use the second to attack while they chase after first. Or just ignore them and come back later.

Yeah, ghosts are locked behind doors, so as long as you don't open those doors, you should be safe.

I found with this game it's not one of those that every monster you encounter is 'beatable' -- especially in the beginning. So, you have to think about your gameplay in more tactical terms. If the ghosts are too tough to beat, try loading an earlier saved game where it is still locked up (if you have one) and go back to it when you've leveled up. Level ups in the beginning are pretty quick (at least the first 2-3 are). Good luck!

Ok, thx for replys
my last savegame is just before a celldoor with a ghost behind it (still closed)
Every time i reload, the ghost comes at of his cell on his own, with deadly result.

I guess I have to start from the beginning again.
I just find it strange that a "tutorial"-act is that difficult. To me a tutorial is something where you can learn at your own pace without to much trouble, to motivate you to continue. So Larian, would you pls concider for DD2 to make the tutorial a bit easier, not everybody is a die-hard rpg-freak.

Is survivor (spec. bow) actually any good ? it seems so weak.

Not sure my answer will help you any but my hero has used her bow since the beginning of the game, but it's not listed under the 'Survivor' path. It's in Warrior --> ranged --> bow (and later in the game crossbow) --> and you can choose to put skill points in accuracy, damage, critical hit, death blow, (and another one, I think but can't remember the name of).

In the beginning of the game, everything your characters do will be weak. Strategy will be the way you get through the first part of the game. At least, that's how I was able to maneuver through some of the more difficult areas. I.e., if my characters couldn't defeat a certain skeleton, evil henchman or monster, I reloaded an earlier save and tried using another tactic (sneak, whirl attack and/or magic).

I played Divine Divinity before getting BD and I have to admit, I've restarted BD at least 3 times before getting the 'knack' of the gameplay. Good luck! And welcome to the forums, btw. Have fun!

For your 1st time through the game you picked, IMHO, the weakest starting character. I have played the Warrior and Mage already and both are very powerful. I am playing a Survivor this time, and they seem to become fairly powerful late in Act II or early Act III.

To be honest it is hard for me not to switch him to a Mage, but I want to finish the game with one of each character. If you are going to restart the game you might try the Warrior (the Mage is way more powerful, but is pretty still weak in Act I)

OOps, I misunderstood, Doggen. Grim's right. Survivor is the weakest character to start out with. One of my characters started out in Survivor mode and seemed to get obliterated around every corner.

Then I got wise and custom made my characters giving them enough strength to get through the first few levels or started them out as warriors. In the game I'm playing now both DK and hero began as warriors. DK has turned into a pretty good survivor/thief and my hero is a strong wizard. Both have good melee and ranged warrior skills.

It doesn't really matter which skill path you start out with. You receive skillbooks for all of the paths quickly throughout the first act.

Hope my message doesn't confuse you more. Sorry about that!

The only advice not yet rendered, is to use the 2 P's Pause and Potions. It's amazing what even one healing potion can achieve.

If God said it, then that settles it!!
