There is always discussion about what the best game, music, skill system, etc. is well how would you answer these somewhat different questions. Answers can come from any game.

Best/Worst plot twist
Best/Worst fight
Best/Worst city
Best/Worst npc
Best/Worst weapon
Best/Worst spell
Best/Worst skill
Most hated npc
Best/Worst quest or sidequest
Hardest quest
Hardest game to beat (boringness doesn't count)

Best plot twist: KotOR
Worst plot twist: NWN OC
Best fight: nothing stands out for me.
Worst fight: Emerald weapon in FFVII. Talk about stupid and tedious.
Best city: Athkatla in BG2.
Worst city: any city in Diablo 2.
Best NPC: Uhm. A tie between Morte (PST), Dak'kon (PST), Jolee Bindo (KotOR) and Canderous Ordo (KotOR). For non-joinable, Ravel from PST and Yuthura Ban from KotOR.
Worst NPC: Minsc, for sheer overrated factor. T3-M4 for a lack of personality. Cernd for blandness. Malak for the manic laughter and cliched, cartoonish villainy.
Worst quest or sidequest: most of the quests in the first village in ToEE.

The rest I'm not terribly interested in answering, though. Eh.

Assuming RPG only...

Best plot twist: Entering the Fortress Of Regrets (PS:T)
Best city: Sigil, city of doors (PS:T)
Best npc: Fall-From-Grace (PS:T)
Best weapon: The Sword Of The Gods (With luck) (DD)
Best spell: Desert Hell (PS:T)
Best skill: None stand out THAT far, IMO.
Hardest game to beat: Lionheart (End section is appallingly hard)
Worst weapon: The Holy Sword (With bad luck) (DD)
Worst spell: Too many to list
Worst skill: Ditto

All the rest I have no real opinion on...

Best/Worst plot twist: No idea, I never take notice of such things because they're usually all wank. Haven't finished KotOR yet though...... (Very good, thanks for burning it into my brain Winterfox.... )

Best Fight: Diablo clone. (v1.10)
Worst Fight: Diablo clone.

Best City: Yeah, that one from BGII. Whatever its name was, the main one where you start.
Worst: The ones in Sacred. Simply because some of the buildings didn't work properly. (Never became transparent when you went behind them.) Zero interaction of any kind.

Best NPC: That guy who played Eistein in the Red Alert intro movies. Honestly, I have no idea.
Worst: Gheed (D2) I swear if he gives me one more crappy ring.....mad

Best weapon: So many to chose from..... I'm going to pick titan's revenge because it makes SUCH a difference to an Amazon. There is no other weapon to make a good Javazon.

Worst: There are always ones with crappy, low damage. They are just low-end weapons however. Something that is supposed to be good and not is even worse. My vote goes to D2's occy. WHY WHY WHY did they put that stupid teleport feature on it????

Best Spell: Gotta be one of the massive area death ones in IWD2. The BG2 ones were overpowered.
Worst Spell: D2's telekinesis. Ever since they took away the ability to pick up items with it anyway.

Best Skill: DD's weapon skills. Just 5 points (yes five) will turn your wizard from a complete puff into a homicidal maniac with the weapon of his choice.
Worst: Most of the skill choice. Embelish? Jesus...

Hated NPC? Carth in KotOR. I wanted to rip his balls off several times now. I've only been playing the game 3 days too.

Best Quest: Finding the whorehouse in . Awesome.
Worst: The Hermit side-quest in Spellforce. Simply because of the amount of shoe-leather and time I wasted on it.....

Hardest: Recently, killing the Rancor in KotOR. Until I figured it out...

Hardest Game: WC3 in the worst difficulty setting. SP campaign. Enemy gets infinite resources. Hmmmmmm.

Mission accomplished! *grins* Are you having fun with it?

A lot of male players seem to hate his guts -- I take it that you're playing a male character, at that. I'm rather indifferent to him, though. *shrugs*

I can honestly say it is the best RPG I've ever played. I love Sci-fi more than fantasy, truth be told. I even got used to the 3D after a while. Even though I much prefer the top-down playstyle.

I hated him as a male and female player. Such a whiner. He's rather light-side and yet does not trust anyone. Seems rather bizarre to me. I do mostly dark side things just to piss him off.....
I started off with a blaster-happy female. Totally messed up my skill and feat allocation so restarted with a sword-toting male.

Mission and the wookie (forgot the name) are very cool. No trouble killing the gang leaders (not the hidden beks, the other ones) second time around.

Anyway, this ain't a KotOR thread. Maybe I should start one. Allthough I'd mostly be talking to you I reckon Winterfox.

I agree with many choices made here, so here are a few others to jog your memories. And this took much longer than I thought.

Best/Worst plot twist
Best
Final Fantasy 3 (or 6 depending on your country). The team loses and the world gets destroyed...didn't see that coming did you!

Worst
Divine Divinity. The 'plot twist' that the Boy Prince was possessed...like I never saw that coming. In fact could it be counted? In that case I go for FF8 with the everyone was living together at the orphanage thing. HA I spoiled it all for you!

Best/Worst fight
Best
Modified Throne of Bhall, against the Firegiants army.
Worst
The Chaos Lord guy in Divine Divinity. He went down way too easily.

Best/Worst city
Best
The Old Camp in Gothic. Technically not a city, but it was fantastic. Everyone had a schedule, everyone knew each other so annoy one and his mates would get involved.
Worst
Britain in Ultma 9. Don't get me wong, I kind of liked it, but it was tiny and no one didanything. It was supposed to be the capital but only 15 people lived there!

Best/Worst npc
Best
Marcus because he could kill anything with a Bozar
Worst
Marcus because he could kill anything with a Bozar including my party

Best/Worst weapon
Best
It's a mod for Morrowind. It features the Talking Sword Lilacor from Baldurs Gate2. Whoever recorded the voice for it deserves a medal. Imagine a nasally voice "You want to know you how I got here..hmm? Well I'll tell you anyway"
Worst
Excalipur heh heh if you know what I'm talking about well done.

Best/Worst spell
Best
Call Lightning from PST. The screen went dark, a massive bolt cam down, the whole screen shook. Such a common spell but it worked great. In fact many spells in PST looked great.
Worst
Call Eden from FF8. The most powerfull summon spell and it took like 20 mintues to run the animation. it was just silly and made the spell useless.

Best/Worst skill
Best
Finesse in Fallout. I just liked the bonus to citicals so much
Worst
Any thief skill other than traps/locks. Who has time to sneak or backstab in a party based RPG

Most hated npc
The somewhat disturbing 'gay' convict in the old camp in Gothic who followed you around and kept bugging you to do 'stuff'.

Best/Worst quest or sidequest
Best
The arguing farm hands in Gothic 2. It wasn't really a quest, and it couldn't be completed as such. But it was so funny to wander back forward repating each persons comments until they got so angry and started fighting.
Worst
The Kidnapped parents in divine Divinity. The game removed control from the Player at a key point...what's the point of the quest then.

Hardest quest
Any of the 8bit and early 16bit games, before Automaps were invented. They all had a damned maze in them to increase longevity of the game. Bah!

Hardest game to beat (boringness doesn't count)
Every play Bards Tale 3. IT was uncannily hard, at least the beginning was. A nine level dungeon that many thought was the whole game but was a fraction. I vaguely remember fighting the first boss and it took forever because the only way to beat him was using 'cheat' tactics by hiding in shadows repeatedly until you did the equivalent of rolling six sixes, allowing a slight amount of damage to the enemy.

Eden from FF8 useless? Not hardly! The normal maximum damage you can kick with anything in that game is 9999. Eden is capable of kicking 40,000 plus damage!

The long animation is to allow you to max out Boost, thus increasing the damage.

Oh, you played that too?
I emailed the author once and said how impressed I was and told him I reinstalled MW because of that. He turned out to be a nice chap but that was expected .
(And what the sword said was REALLY annoying. In a good way.)

Couldn't quite answer all of them, but here's from my expereince:

Best plot twist: Deus Ex
Worst plot twist: I'm going to nominate a movie: The Leauge of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Moriaty? Otherwise the movie was good!
Best fight: Doom I & II
Best city: GTa2
Worst city: Most small villages in RPGs. Please will you have some character and not just a store, healer, sherrif and a save point.
Worst NPC: Black & White: The wanna-be sailors. Won't they shut up?!?
Best weapon: American McGee's Alice: Jack-Bomb. It's like a garden sprinkler, only with napalm!
Worst spell: Healing in many RPGs. What's the point when you have 200 healing potions?
Best skill: Deus Ex: Ocular Enhancement
Worst skill: Divinity: Traders Tongue. There's enough gold in the game as it is!
Most hated NPC: Janus!
Best quest or sidequest: Neverwinter Nights: Charwood Forest
Worst quest or sidequest: Please collect this package from the guy on the other side of the world and bring it to me.
Hardest game to beat (boringness doesn't count): I don't know. Too many I haven't beaten!

Good list, Artemic, however why don't you like Valygar?
As a personality or as a character?
Personally I found much use for a stalking ranger.

Well admittedly he was powerful but the way I see it, I could hit with a sword that was doing 8000 damage in a matter of seconds. If I used a limitbreak then multiply that by 10. Real time was the problem there since I could do more damge in shorter time. I've not played any others so I don't know if it's still a problem with FF games.

Oh, you have no idea. If you can get your hand on FF7, use Knight of the Round summon + Quad materia + Mime command.

You can go away, do housework for an hour or so, come back -- and the Knight of the Round animation would still be playing, provided that the enemy isn't already dead. (Ala Ruby/Emerald/Ultimate weapon.)

My mistake for not being clear. I meant I've not played any after FF8. I've played 4,5,6,7, and 8. I loved the Knights animation and made full use of quad and mimic etc to take out Emerald and Ruby Weapons.

Heh. That's true

When I played the game, I tended to use my GFs a lot to stop my PCs taking damage, but Squall in full limit break mode DEFINITELY does more damage in a shorter time.

Best plot twist
PST, Fortress of Regrets, dialogues of Mortality with all party members before killing them, all dialogues with Dejonarra (this is where a tear comes into mu eyes), TNO memories, especially getting to know his previous incarnations (another tear).

Best fight
Fallout 2: going back to Den after visiting Navarro, in advanced power armor with kick-*ss plasma rifle. Slavers, melt !

Worst fight
Game: Diablo 2, char: Necromancer, loc: Monastery, difficulty: hell
ROFL: agreed on Marcus and his unique ability to wipe out your party. Also, have to mention Sulik and his ability to charge in melee and die in the first turn.

Best animations between levels:
Diablo 2.

Best Music:
Movie: ending in Final Fantasy
Music in DD was very good.
PST: Mortuary, meeting Dejonarra

Best party member
I loved all of them in PST, except Ignus (but, his story was also good)
Xan in BG was funny.
Mission in KOTOR was good.

Best npc
Gabriella - Blood 2.
Cloun making balloon animals in Grim Fandango

Best weapon
Dagger of torment

Hardest game to beat (boringness doesn't count)
Many games where you cannot save between levels, like Tom Glancy's Rainbow Six all series, Hitman.
