I loved lockpick in DD - and if that skill had been broken in there, I'd have thrown a fit All those chests and no possibility to open them...
If this skill would be working in BD I'd have a hard inner fight between my curiosity (terrific-wonder-super-item missed) and my constant lack of free skill pts

BTW, I would have appreciated if this skill would function, and I'm still hoping for a fix, Ferettmom

but you're set to become a great bow user with your stats distributed as they are.

Yeah, but I wanted to fire a bow and picklocks! LOL

Tinman, let me make a short lockpick-statistic out of my memory:

Act 1 => 3 chests in recruit room + 1 chests in the officer's room + bathroom door

Wait a sec... Despite you informing me (spoiler)otherwise, I seem to remember a lot more doors that were never opened to me my first time through Act 1. However, I'm not going to argue semantics. To have me believing for the last 7 levels that I'm actually attempting to "pick" a lock- in actuality wasting my time, remove the friggin' thing instead! Alas, it would be a shame to see Lockpicking removed from a fantasy game mind you. Man, an RPG without Lockpicking is not really an RPG at all... IMO.

Well, I don't have any points left-over- I tend to spend them heavily in Luck in order to make sure that when i DO open that Chest, I'll get a nice Item. Oh no... you're not going to tell me Luck is broken too, are you!?

So, I find it's rather important for me to open a locked door at the spur of the moment, instead of hunting for the blasted key. I play more of a Conan-ish thug than a Garrett-like thief.

Nope, luck is not broken - but if you encounter more unlocked doors/chests than the ones I posted for Act 1 => you missed keys

After reading through this thread, I'm coming to the point that I see that while the game has many enjoyable aspects, the culmulative weight of all the issues (of varying degrees of subjective importance) renders the product to be much less than what it should have been. There are the game "pounders" who don't care. They will pound away at it despite it's flaws and still have a wonderful time, saving every two minutes to ensure progress versus the game stopping crash or bug. For those of us that only want a game stable enough to play for an hour or two, saving when we sign off... BD ain't it.

It still has too many problems to be politely considered stable. I pity the poor Joes that even played this before the 1.45 patch. It must have been a true horror. I only had this game for about a week and installed the 1.45 patch with the new game. Though the money isn't important, if only I would have waited, I could have gotten a much better game experience at an even better price. Next time I see a Larian product, I'm waiting until I see it in the bargain bin first, and checking to see if the patches cover all the issues before I buy.

This problem is not new. Many publishers push products out the door to make the holiday season. Notice I didn't say developer. The bean counters are the ones at fault. That's why some gamers refuse to buy around Chistmas knowing full well that many hot products will be in fact, incomplete. I honestly wish that someone like the Attorney General would examine this practice as this has been a well known fact. If something is supposed to work in a certain way, and doesn't, and the publisher knew beforehand, and sold it anyway... well, in most countries that constitutes fraud.

I, for one would like to see someone, anyone... really clean up the software business. Maybe then I could get a game that gives me more enjoyment than headache. It's not even the money issue.

Ralph

Wait a sec, I never said anything about it being unstable. No problems on my end there. I do believe it was rushed though.

It is actually very hard to follow a general idea of this thread. I guess, the patch 1.46 will be out anyways, cause "minor bugs" seem only to be left in the most efficient 1.45 patches: new French one, the German and the English one. Those '1.45' patches that come for the other countries contain NUMEROUS 'loops', 'bugs' and 'out of ranges' (names most if DD fans will recaLL quite easily), though I personally (as well as ton other players who enjoyed the easteregg of DD) GOT RID OF THEM!!!! and in presence of the imprisoned creators of the game!!! :}
