Hi everyone. I'm new to this game and this forum and I have a question to ask.
Before I patched the game, when day turned to night I could see the light diminish gradually. But now it turns dark immediately like you're in a well lit room and all of a sudden someone turns off the lights. Do u experience the same thing or is it just me? Also,I remember entering a room (in a poor area, forgot the name) and i picked up something from the table, someone protested but the guy was not visible on the screen. Those things never happened before. Anyone care to explain? thx.

Please, look at this thread - adding the splotchproblem 0 in your config.lcl AND hitting ENTER will give you day/night back.

About your protester => are you sure, it was the poor quarters and not in Ars magicana, the mage shop? If so => this protest is correct.

Thanks Kiya for ur reply. I tried the advice and it really worked!!! About the protester, I can't really remember now. It was either in one of the houses in the poor quarters or in the dwarven in. But I'm sure that no body was in the room. My character is still at the early levels of her career. I don't think she's been to Ars Magicana.

Btw, sorry it took me a while to reply. I don't have internet connection at home (it's still a luxury in my country-Indonesia) so I have to visit one of the internet cafes here if I want to log in to the forum.

I have started playing DD again and also have the problem with the day/night cycle. I looked up the config.lcl file in windows explorer as suggested but all I get when I click on this is the DD configuration v1.1 box where you can change the display resolution and the rendering system. I clicked on every file and I couldn't see anywhere where I could add splotchproblem 0.

If someone could be so kind as to explain in simple laymans terms (for a non techie <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />) how I can find this file and alter it I would be very grateful.

The config.lcl file is a text file, which you can open with Notepad or any other text editor. If you add the line at the end of the file, hit enter afterwards. Since the game is expecting the last line to be blank, it will not recognize the change otherwise.
