Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks Corinna & the Summon Demon

This one is as weird as are so many in this Game:
Corinna tells you the three things she Needs: Book (from Penumbra); A Branch from the Talking Tree in DarkForest and a *Special* ( Exquisite Wine) from the Wine merchant. I then ask-"you mean I will have to go allway to DF to get branch?" She replies " No,not at all. Many Mechants go there and come back with one-just look aaround for a Merchant that has been there recently and see if he has one" OK--I find Mpenzak at His cart And the dialogue opens and he has been to the DF recently and YES,He has a branch ---which I buy for 500gold. I get all three items and go back to Corinna. She Drinks the Wine-I accuse her of Deceiving me-she says --"NO,the Wine is for me I don't need it for the summoning--but I do need a flower that is in My garden"-tells me go get it and meet her in summoning room --which I do. Anyway-after 4 times and Demon killing her everytime I decide to see what she is putting in the circle--so just as she is walking away from doing that I Move over and see that all she has in there is the Branch and the Book--thats all. not three items just TWO. Also I was told that ONLY Corinna could read that Book--well I could Read it--it was just a Picture like at least half dozen books just like it that I had found and discarded Previously. And,NO,I got he Branch from Mpenzak BEFORE his cart was burned and the ine from Athrabert BEfore He was Jailed. Now, IF it turns out that I really Needed to go to the DF Myself and get a Branch then I say this is
absolutely ridiculous that the larian Team would do this sort of thing--I don't intend to Revert back to a Save that far back just to complete a stupid and Unecessary Quest anyway!

Sigarr, the Mpenzak branch is the one causing the ritual to fail. You need the branch from the Dark Forest - directly from the Talking tree.

Mpenzak was a trap <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> - typical Larian humour. If it comforts you => I fell for this as well in my first game. And I spent countless hrs trying to find out why: this included futile efforts to light/unlight the candles, move stuff around, protect Corinna with 2 globes etc.

BTW, after the failed ritual you see the fake branch lying there - it was not used up due to the ritual. Well, Corinna is a dedicated, not exactly a skilled would-be summoner. This comes from her bad education as an autodidact <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Just in case, you want to do this sub quest => get rid of the Mpenzak branch and trudge to the Tree - try to be either polite there or kill it afterwards.

If you wish revenge:
burn M.'s cart <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />
and kill the tree only AFTER you have both quests involving it: The branch and another one in the Dark Forest to get an alchemy plant. If you kill the tree too early, you will miss one of these items (they only appear after you get both quests).

i dont blanb Mr M for the mis up I highly doubt he considered it to make a difference, SO Ill just sell the branch back and go get a new one form the stupid tree

I have a problem with this quest too.

I originally got the fake branch and gave it to Corrina with the other stuff. Got the plant from her garden. Tried to do the summoning. She gets killed and the quest fails. Tried it a few times then got fed up.

So I reloaded and went off to do some other stuff. I now have the real branch but when I go back to corrina I can't give her the real branch. There is no dialogue option.

The fake branch is in the pentagram and I can't move it or anything. If I put my new branch in the pentagram too then it still fails.

Is there a way a can solve this quest?? Or am I now stuck ??
