Larian Studios Forums Beyond Divinity (English) Technical Problems Weak Prisoner Not Recognising Water Bottle

I started over again today and was having fun, until I got to the prisoner in the beginning of act 1 who asks you for water. Now, bring him mugs of water and bottles of water and he won't recognise either of them, no matter how much I bring him. And no matter how much I talk to him, the quest won't show up in my quest log. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is this yet another bug?

he only accepts 1 water bottle => remember where the kitchen cleaning imp is? There is a bottle on the table.
