Will anybody change scorpions to some real levels? I mean, come on,

skill....scorpion level:
1..........100
2..........200
3..........300
4..........400
5..........500

That's crazy - highest NPCs are level 50, aren't they? I've put 1(ONE) point in them and i've been using them in wastelands (getting to wastelands auto-leveled me to level 42!!). They are not too heavy to carry them around and use them a lot, they have lots of hp with their current levels and they have not-bad damage. And with "aura of command" skill you can have up to 5 of them traveling with you all the time, not just wondering where you used them. That's the most unbalanced skill in the whole game!!! Did you get my point or i have to give some more reasons?

I first thought that 0 was added by mistake (level 10 => 100), but it wasn't fixed yet... or do you believe that it's fine the way it is?

Or did i miss something?

If you think they are unbalanced then why do you use them? Of course, with AoC on them you are only getting half of the XP for their kills.

I could have been very happy not knowing that. "Game over, man! Game over!"

Thief already has less skills than other classes, so if i play as a thief, i try to use every skill i can get...

I used them because they are very good addition to the thief class.
I didn't put anymore points into the skill - as i said, 1st level of the skill gives 100 level scorpion and i was using them when i found them (didn't buy them, but didn't want to carry them, when i found them, they weight more than they cost; so i used them, just so that i didn't throw them away, they look nice at low levels when i found them, i got 1-3 scorpions, in wastelands i got 10 scorpions per find... used them and the whole level was clean in a jiffy - and i still had my skill at 1st level. I wish i could drop their level to a 5-10 times smaller (100 => 20 or 10), that would balance them and would make skill more usefull (in the terms of putting points into it). Right now it's broken, no need to put points into it after skill level 1 even when you are above level 42.

Btw, other traps are too weak, but maybe it's just because i had skill of 1 only ... 20-50 other traps are nothing compared to 1 scorpion, that's very unbalanced too.

P.S. I did hear other people saying something like "don't use scorpions, they are broken" or "scorpions will get you through the level with no effort" and so on... so it's not just my opinion.

It depends on your class and how you can handle yourself in a fight, I needed like 15-20 level 3 scorpians to kill the dwarvens and Josphina in the first fight with her because I would get killed if the dwarves sournded me!

No class should rely on one skill only and no skill should be so strong that you could rely on that skill only - that kind of takes away all the fun

I guess you were just too low level...

It's a vital part of the "Scavenger" class. It's for people that like to walk around picking things off the ground without having to pay attention those moving things that flash experiance numbers.

I won't surrender that easy...

(These are from http://www.locusinn.com)
First of all, look here.

- Deadly Gift
- Level 1 Trailbombs do 20 damage per bomb. Death scorpion has 100 hitpoints and spidermine does 20 damage.
Required level is 5.
magic cost is 5.
- Level 2 Trailbombs do 40 damage per bomb. Death scorpion has 200 hitpoints and spidermine does 40 damage.
Required level is 11.
magic cost is 8.
- Level 3 Trailbombs do 60 damage per bomb. Death scorpion has 300 hitpoints and spidermine does 60 damage.
Required level is 17.
magic cost is 11.
- Level 4 Trailbombs do 80 damage per bomb. Death scorpion has 400 hitpoints and spidermine does 80 damage.
Required level is 23.
magic cost is 14.
- Level 5 Trailbombs do 100 damage per bomb. Death scorpion has 500 hitpoints and spidermine does 100 damage.
Required level is 29.
magic cost is 17.

In DD, deadly gift has Death scorpions of that levels, not hit points... level 1 skill = level 100 scorpion... so, the questions is, if they are really level 100 or they have 100 hit points (or both?), or locusinn have a mistake there ... i had level 5 monster id skill in the end and i still didn't see scorpions' stats, which means that level-1-skill scorpions have level 50+...

You already replied your question, didn't you? If you couldn't ID scorpions with 5 ranks in "Know Creature", those scorpions should have high levels which means LocusInn made a mistake.

errr, the fact that they are above level 49 doesn't mean they are 100

well, anyway, look here:

(These are from http://www.locusinn.com again)

Some mage's summoning spells/skills:

- Level 2 Summon a level 26 dreadknight.

- Skeletal Wall
- Level 1 Summons five hardened skeletons. Each skeleton receives a bonus of 5 to one of its resistances. Hardened skeletons have level 16.
Required level is 16.
Magic cost is 16.
- Level 2 Summons five hardened skeletons. Each skeleton receives a bonus of 10 to one of its resistances. Hardened skeletons have level 18.
Required level is 22.
Magic cost is 19.

Now compare these skills/spells and the Deadly Gift skill...

(yep, mages DO have some passive summon buffs, but they are skills too, they require skill points and maybe they even affect scorpions too)

Level 5 skill: level 44 dreadknight ; Required level is 48; Magic cost is 36.
Level 5 skill: level 500 death scorpion; Required level is 29; Magic cost is 17.

what do you think?

Much too unbalancing. Plus scorpion traps aren't really traps... they are more like summons. If this is the way that the survivor class was made to be more powerful, then this is a bad, bad thing to do. Read: this is not something that should be done in DD2.

Scorpions might be unbalanced but there's worse: 'Resurrect' & 'Aura Of Command' on Rak Sheen (the dragon).

It's attack can hurt several enemies and it does 3-7 (i think) times up to 100 damage to each of them in one blow. To make it even better it's fast as hell.
Most things are dead before you get to them.

If you haven't killed Rak Sheen yet, you can use John, though he isn't that strong.

you can use it on the first dragon rider you see. at the beginning of the game , zandalor kills him. his body will be prserved during the entire game.

He meant the dragon rider in the imp castle (second warrior's guild test). Also, I think John is the dragon rider Zandalor killed.

ALL Dragon-riders can be resurrected.

However, they are VERY WEAK towards *direct* combat, bodo to body.

if you get to him first
because in the dragonheart quest, i had to run like hell, until i had the change to freese the oversized lizzard

the other ones were relatively easy to kill.

yah, its for exactly that reason i am very happy that scorps are the way they are. maybe they could just make them imune to aura of command. i have never used that skill. my scorps do there own thing. it makes it challenging using them. that female in charge of the dwarfs in the graveyard can kill anything less than level 3 three scorps. same with the dragonrider in the imp castle. i'm very happy the way they are now.

I never used scorps or traps.

Like Bean said. Get to them fast and you bash'm up pretty easely. A good amount of resistance helps ofcourse.
