Mwhahaha another rpg beaten. Funny thing is the last leader was easier than the Black ring members,at leaste for me any way. I just unloaded Elemental Hail on it,& it was toaste. My final stats for my guy was----

That thing that fell out of the sky ... that was the statue that was on the entrance of the catacombs in Aleroth. Just a Joke.

The thing he is carrying is part of the ending. Is it the baby??? is it tresure?? Who knows?

What is the value of resistances?

I see the end game character with 700+ in each of fire, spirit, etc.
My 20th level character has 30 to 40 in each resist.
Does this mean that my character is not really resistant at all, even though the flavorful character description says he could "ignore a dragon's fiery breath..." etc ?

Your resistances are a bit low for the Wastelands, I had 155-200. But I guess, 100 is sufficient.

And I'm sure, your lvl 20 char, isn't there <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> you can boost up res. with charms - the best ones are in the end part, so don't worry.

With vitality close to 300 and poison resist 50+ (I carry "resist gear") my 20th Survivor was able to melee his way through the spider lair, his health dropping fast enough to need Restoration spell now and then, but I definately could tell the resists were working. I had the skill that stops 80 damage from "spells" and that seemed to ablate the poison damage too.

At level 15ish with around 20 poison resist, and no Spell Shield, those spiders individually were a LOT more annoying. The spider lair was a death trap. I had less Vit too, that might have been it.

close to the end of the game i had about 170 str, 215 agility, 50 int. and about 50-100 const. My resistances were about 100 each as i thought these are % and i didn't want to waste money and charms.... With my stats monsters were hitting-and-damaging me once an hour while i was *not* hitting them once in an hour, my sword freezed them and drained life out of them, so i was full in 2-3 my hits after every hit taken, so i got through it all by just dodging, not surviving <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

lol yeah,odd thing is I didn't have any resist charms,those we're close to natural resist stats,minus a few items here & there that gave me weak resist like 10 resist fire etc. As for the other stuff,I had like 8 or more gold charms in my equipment,soo thats why life & magic was soo high,& stats:).
For equipment I think I had, Nobles Sword 2 charms, Dragon Helm 4 charms,Dragon Armor 5 charms,Dragon shield 3 charms (weird thing is when I went to put charms in it,it was called an Iron helm not shield..weird) Boots of the Vampire 4 charms,Dragon gloves 1 charm<-- screwed up on those forgot to save,Strange Amulet Mardec 5 charms,Ruby ring 2 charms,& a Sapphire ring 4 charms. Huh? soo that was the statue from Aleroth? Hey I remember didn't someone say they seen a statue flying through the air one time? & that it looked like Mardaneus,or whatever? Viconia is a Drow, from BG 1 and 2. She is neutral evil (well, not really evil, just a little bit <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />) - and she was my favourite, but didn't like staying in my goodygoody paladin group.
