hey I recently formatted my hdd and had DD installed but my savegames won't work properly : my char moves but the setting doesn't (just like using the Shift key)

at first I thought that my savegame files were corrupted and anyway I wanted to start the game over so I didn't bother much, but now a few friends told me they have the same problem...

now I know there's an older topic about this but I can't find it anywhere!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Do you have your Caps Lock key enabled? That will act just like holding the shift key down.

What happens if you hold the shift key down, or enable Caps Lock? Do you have Num or Scroll Lock enabled?
Did Windows recognize your keyboard properly when you re-installed it? Do the shift and Caps Lock keys work properly in a text editor, etc?

keyboard works fine....caps lock or shift don't do anything when pressed in the game and I don't have scroll or num lock enabled...

my new savegames are working properly but my older ones don't....so I just thought they were corrupt but when other people started to experience this problem it seemed kinda weird....

If only some saves are doing this, it sounds like they are corrupt. That seems weirder than the game acting as if Caps Lock was enabled.

Does teleporting, via the stones or pads, update the screen location to follow the character? Probably not.

If you are interested in narrowing down where the problem is, you could make copies of a non-working save folder and a working one, then start copying files from the working save into the non-working save until it starts to work after being loaded. Alternately, you could copy files from the non-working save folder into the working folder until it stops working. I would start testing with the data.000 file.
