The 2 swords look good.
If i had to choose i would take the first one.

Which is the class of your char ? Mage or warrior ?
There are some good one hand swords in the game.
If i remember well Pedro drops one when he dies and there is one in a dead village in the wastlands.

I'm having kinda the same problem... I use crossbow/claymore now, but I have a super-duper-keduper L337 shield and also so skill points in shield stuff, so I really want to wear my shield. What's a good one-hand weapon?

I'm a warrior, with 55 str, 47 dex, 31 int and 40 con.
I have skills in the shield stuff, the swords mastery, bows mastery, crossbows mastery and the skill that increase your arrow damage (trueshot I think).

[color:"orange"] A good sword has good stats

So you have to look at the stats of the weapon before to get it.

In Divine Divinity the stats of the items are random.
If you find a good weapon, make a savegame then reload and try again, maybe you will get a better weapon the second time or the third time......

The better swords are these ones :

[nocando] Sword : Near Stormfist Castle (dropped by a rude knight)
Blade of Chaos 2 handed sword : In a cave at the west of Glenborus, the dwarven village
Brightblade : Near Aleroth (dropped by Lord Seth if you kill him)
Cutlass of Totu Chabahl : Thieves’ Guild (in a locked chest)
Nobleman’s Sword 1 handed sword : In the Holy Weapons Crypt
Random Claymore 2 handed sword : In a lich cave near Rivertown
Singing Blade 1 handed sword : In the Rivertown Sewers (dropped by Pedro)
Sword from the Stone 2 handed sword : In the Stone (Dark Forest)
Sword of the Gods 1 handed sword : In the Wastelands (in a house in the dead village)

[color:"orange"]Edit : For the first time in this forum i have used a [nocando] word without knowing it.
I did not want to insult a member, i was just giving the name of the sword !

If you cast Poison Cloud near an NPC, but not directly on them, they will take damage but not turn hostile. You can kill many NPCs this way without them attacking back or loosing reputation points. Most essential NPCs are protected from being killed (more were added to that group in the patch).

Alternatively, Seth sticks around until the healers move, so you can level up a bit and get better equipment if you want more of a fair fight.

Barta;
The name colours are based on the quality of the item, which is random. I've gotten a white named Nobelman's sword, though it is most often orange.

You need to deliberately misspell the word, or something, if you want to post about a bas.tard sword.

Thanks for the info. I am going to edit my post and delete the colours.
About the nocando word, it was fun to notice that it is impossible to name a weapon which is in the game.
